Avatar f tn I would like to know how long after taking Sumatriptan/Imitrex could any drowsiness side effect be considered to have worn off for when I get a migraine away from home and have no reasonable option to get home without driving myself. A few years ago, I got a migraine while some distance from home. I do not drive with a migraine.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me trazodone hydrochloride for anxiety, sumatriptan succinate for migraines, zopiclone for sleep, I've been told I can take the trazodone with zopiclone, but I have the new sumatriptan tablets, it says in the medical pamphlet that it is an MAO-A inhibitor and can't be taken with antidepressants/anxiety tablets. Would it be ok to take both the trazodone hydrochloride and the sumatriptin succinate together?
Avatar f tn This was a steady pain in my left eye. You believe this is from my TN? I am on tegretol right now for TN. It seems to help most of the time. I am also on sumatriptan for migraines. This was the first time I experienced this constant pain right behind my left eye. Thought the pain was from migraines so I took sumatriptan . So migraines are a throbbing pain on one side?
Avatar n tn The more drastic option for people who get really bad migraines that do not respond to other treatments is sumatriptan in an injection form... your doctor will have to teach you how to inject yourself, but, if it works, it's worth it. Sumatriptan really does NOT work as a tablet, so... if you are taking a tablet form of it, you NEED to get onto another triptan. Talk to your doctor. You could also try taking the following supplements too...
Avatar f tn And I have learned that sumatriptan helps with cluster headaches. Is there any other trigeminal neuralgia sufferers out there, who suffer the same symptoms as I do? Help me please I am very confused about this condition!!! Sarah.
Avatar f tn When the migraine is around, it is constant. Ocassionally, the pain is what I think is really bad and then kicks up a notch for a short time (like what some might call a stabbing pain). My GP also considered allergies (or sensitivities) to certain foods and sometimes I find dark, gray days I will have a migraine. I think you should talk to your doctor about hormones or food sensitivites and ask him/her about if sumatriptan is right for you.
1102283 tn?1257817472 But, due to cost constraints, I would suggest getting a prescription for the cheapest generic triptan which is called Sumatriptan tablets. The Sumatriptan tablets work well for many people, so if they work well for you then that would be excellent and you can just stick to them as your only prescription. Although, due to the extremely low bioavailability of Sumatriptan tablets, they do not always work well for everyone (although Sumatriptan is still the most prescribed triptan on the market).
Avatar n tn I wanted to know if it is ok to take my amitriptyline after i took my sumatriptan.? Can someone please help me? I took bith pills and i don't know if i was supposed to i can't remember what my doctor said.
Avatar f tn Also, consult with your Doctor as to whether it is safe for you to take prescription medication like Triptans etc, at this stage. Unfortunately it's a fine line between taking medication at the right time but expensive if at the wrong time because of their cost. By the way, would you consider answering a post below yours that deals with the ability to predict when a migraine might hit you. In other words would such a thing be valuable or beneficial to you? Thanks for your help as well.
612876 tn?1355514495 -) Even though the injection creeped me out a little, if anyone else has considered this, or is looking for a different migraine medicine I definitely recommend talking to your doctor about this. I guess it works so well because it works so quickly, and as many migraineurs know, one of the keys to getting migraine meds to work is how soon you take them once you feel the headache starting.
Avatar f tn should I keep going back to the doctr or had anyone outthre had the same sympton and can give me an answer as to what it is and how I can cure it. I usually wake in the night with it and it sometimes goes once I am upright.
Avatar f tn Anyone suffering migraines from a car acc? I never had any until a year and a half ago when I was T-boned. The specialists I see say this is quite common. I don't seem to have any food or odor triggers, but the weather, especially rain, bring them on. I have a migraine of some degree about 28 days of the month. I get Botox injections, am on Topomax, Sumatriptan, anti nausea meds...the whole works. My life was changed in an instant.
Avatar m tn If he has a chronic sinus infection, typical antibiotic treatment is for 4-6 weeks. A nasal steroid spray is also beneficial as well as oral steroids. Nasal saline irrigations over the counter like NeilMed or Neti pot are very effective. The best diagnosis for this problem is a CT of the sinuses. Surgery is recommended to patients that fail maximal medical treatment. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar n tn hi, im just wondering what i can do while taking Imigran like can i still drink alcohol while taking them or will it make me sick?
Avatar n tn Have you tried any of the anti-epileptics? Usually the first one that is tried is Topamax. That helped me for awhile. The only side effects that I had from it were some numbness and tingling in my hands and feet. They say that is pretty normal. I also tried Lamictal, Keppra, and Depakote. The drug that I have found the most relief from is actually an Alzheimer's drug. It is called Namenda. There has been some research that has shown that it helps to prevent migraine.
Avatar f tn From your profile, you stated that you get migraine headaches. What medicine do you take for migraine prophylaxis and treatment, any triptans, like sumatriptan (Imitrex) or zolmitriptan (Zomig) and etc? Please inform your provider(s) and pharmacist of all your medical conditions and medications, including over-the-counter and supplements. For additional information, please go to: 1. Avatar f tn Hi I am a 32 year old female who has been suffering with debilitating daily migraines for 13 or so years . I have tried so many preventative medications with no success. I am now taking sumatriptan injections which masks the pain and also have gone oxygen. I am still suffering daily and have had no success with any medication . I am still under a neurologist who are still not sure why I am getting these horrendous headaches , I have told them I get them when hot .
1761287 tn?1313824787 Not sure if that can contribute to migraine onset. I take Advil PM to help me sleep because that is the only way to stop the pain. Thanks for any advice on treatment...Oh...I was prescribed Sumatriptan for them & it works only sometimes, although it does have some dizziness as a side effect...
