Avatar f tn For the management of anemia, ribavirin dose reductions should be used (refer to the prescribing information for ribavirin for its dose reduction guidelines). If ribavirin dose reductions are inadequate, discontinuation of INCIVEK should be considered. If ribavirin is permanently discontinued for the management of anemia, INCIVEK must also be permanently discontinued. Ribavirin may be restarted per the dosing modification guidelines for ribavirin.
Avatar n tn what do you suggest her now?should she go for pegulated interferon?how is the result of pegulated interferon?
Avatar n tn There is NO cure for HCV except for our SOC which is Interferon & Ribavirin. Taking the holistic approach can lessen liver enzymes but WILL NOT CURE the disease. This is a blood disease. Many have been cured!
962490 tn?1406841002 Thanks for the information. As a naive HCV person it is what I was looking for.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar n tn Yes this forum is all about clearing the virus, but nobody minds if you want to use herbs. Just don't come on here selling them, I think that's what the main consensus is. If you want to clear the virus then you can't do it with herbs. By the way, I thought you were starting tx yourself? If you have used herbs for years and you are so healthy then why would you even look into txing with interferon and ribavirin since you think they are so "harsh"? Just curious?
Avatar f tn Hi- i was in your same position this time last year. It is hard to predict what to expect as everyone is different and has different situations at home. For me the treatment has been tolerable with a few bumps in the road. I had more difficulty with the sides early in treatment (first 5 months) and am just now feeling like I am getting used to them. I would say my biggest side was absolutely no appetite with nausea. I lost alot of weight and am just starting to get my appetite back.
Avatar f tn Yes pretty much they do all mean the same thing ... the "polyethylene glycol" is what is add to Interferon to make it pegylated which lasts longer in our body than un-pegylated interferon ... And - "Peg" can sometimes be referring to the actual drugs Pegasus or Pegintron depending on who and how the word is used .. Here is a hcv term reference link in MH .. if you need to know any of of this new language .. Hope that helps ... http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn The term RVR was used with peg-interferon and ribavirin treatment and is no longer used. It is already known that when a person becomes undetectable makes no difference in outcome with at least some treatments. Also the addition of ribavirin to Sovaldi + Oyysio makes no statistical difference in outcome as was found in the COSMOS phase 1 and 2 studies.
Avatar m tn I have been reading about the new drug and there is a term I don't understand. What is lead in? They are talking about lead in this and lead in that. What does this lead in mean. Also now that Victrelis is FDA Approved does this mean is out on the market already?
Avatar n tn *****But it also said that sofosbuvir plus ribavirin for 24 weeks may be considered for genotype 1 patients who are ineligible for or unable to tolerate interferon.***** http://www.hivandhepatitis.com/hcv-treatment/experimental-hcv-drugs/4438-fda-approves-sofosbuvir-sovaldi-for-hepatitis-c-genotypes-1-2-3-and-4 As willbb said, "Have you had discussion about possibly waiting a while longer to do an approved treatment with a comb. of the all-oral drugs in the near future?
Avatar n tn hi, im just wondering is there anyone around on here who can remember when interferon was only being trialed for hep c interested to know what sort of results they were posting ref viral load reductions and the such like?
476246 tn?1418870914 Like you, I don't like to smoke pot, but it really helped me through my last treatment, as it now helps me through my insomnia. It was the doctor that actually recommended it. There is something else that may work for you, but didn't work well for me. It's called Marinol. This is a synthetic TCH (marijuana main active ingredient) that comes in a soft jell capsule. You may want to try that. It has the same effect but without the smoke. It's a prescription drug. Ask your doctor.
Avatar m tn Although the pegylated interferons are the primary drugs used to treat CHC, a combination with ribavirin is more effective than pegylated interferon alone. Ribavirin-associated AE may be lessened by ribavirin dose reductions and by maintenance of the hematocrit..."
