Avatar f tn I have kidney failure (Gfr generally between 40 and 50 but recently closer to 40), and also crohns which has been in remission for years but has recently been shown to be very active. My problem is for about 12 months now I have been prescribed ramipril for my kidneys and high blood pressure, but in the last few months and weeks (it seems to me since crohns has become active) it is making me feel absolutely terrible.

Avatar f tn It is inadvisable to increase medications than what is prescribed by the doctor. First, discuss with his doctor if he should continue with Ramipril. If yes, inform the doctor what you told us here that the chemist [pharmacist] has only the larger dose available. Usually the doctor can ask/call the chemist to order the proper dosage.
Avatar f tn My pulse is low a 59 but my BP is still high. Is this normal? Im worried if they put the dose up my pulse will go even lower.
Avatar f tn Here's some input 6 years after the OP from someone that is not a doctor. Most people are happy with weight loss (under appropriate circumstances). Weight gain though...not so much. Most people will label that (weight gain) a problem and search for a solution. If Ramipril is the most significant change in their lifestyle, that may stand out as the culprit. I went on Ramipril 1 month ago. Personally I have never, and I mean never in my life, experienced unwanted increases in weight.
1020296 tn?1251475359 that is quite a high dosage of beta blocker and is likely to give the low pulse. Is the cardiologist aware of this pulse? The blood pressure medication is quite low and could be increased. Ask the Cardiologist if the beta blocker should be reduced and the Ramipril increased.
Avatar f tn That's what we're wondering. The doctors said the ramipril is not just for blood pressure but is also for his weak heart to see if it improves the EF. They've sent him for additional tests and even recommended a higher dose of ramipril despite the fact that his oxygen level was 114 when he did the bicycle test. The doctor kept talking about him being in a state of heart failure which is very unsettling.
Avatar n tn Hello, Your blood pressure is obviously high but you have started with the lifestyle modification with exercise and dietary changes. Moreover ACE inhibitor drugs like Ramipril is a good antihypertensive and should lower the blood pressure. However ensure that you take this drug regularly as prescribed and get your blood pressure monitored at regular intervals.
Avatar n tn Before deciding to change your dosages on your own check with your doctor to make sure your problem is related to the drugs and not due to changes in your cardiac function.

Avatar f tn t hurt when I urinate or have a bowel movement although certain body movements cause it to occur. My question is can this be caused by ramipril along with my lasix and potassium with a delayed reaction or buildup?
Avatar m tn Taking Ramipril In morning for several years. Recently started taking Laxido & banana (for breakfast). About the same time started coughing frequently but intermittently & became slightly breathless when walking. 2 days ago doctor called Emergency as I had persistent chest pain & burping. No heart attack but abnormal ecg, which however improved after being in A&E for several hours. Wondering if Ramipril + laxido + banana too much potassium?
Avatar m tn It is just one day after my mom skipped Ramipril, and still continue to have the cough. The doctor was saying the cough will not stop immediately after stopping the Ramipril, will take at least a week to reduce. Is it correct?
Avatar n tn Since my high blood pressure just reach 150, I would like to know how I can effectively treat or control the hypertension, medicine, exercise or what else? My weight is 183lb and I never smoke. I have no other disease. Thank you for your answer.
544430 tn?1283712658 i have an occasional cough...the DR says it is caused by Ramipril but cant change my med because im been treated for Excema which i've had now for 18 mths..
Avatar n tn My doctor agreed to me trying without this for a month. Two weeks in my BP is mostly between 125/67 and 159/75. The problem is that it does sometimes go higher and when it gets to upper 160s I get irregular heartbeat. I take garlic and Co enzyme Q10. What is the solution?
Avatar f tn Hi there. According to the numbers you posted, The 150 number in lower than the diastolic? Its a bit strange? Systolic 150 would be moderately high. diastolic of 155 (If thats correct) would be quite high indeed and may need prompt evaluation to investigate and control it. (Its a little unclear in your post if its Systolic of 150/155?? Anyway, In people with added complications like you describe, they like to go for closer to 120 over 80 as ideal.
Avatar n tn Is it possible for ace inhibitors to raise your blood pressure? I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.
Avatar m tn One other thought, sometimes statins can have side effects I see she is taking Crestor and Ramipril check out thats not the cause .
976897 tn?1379167602 My Ramipril is hardly working now, it looks as though I'm becoming immune to its effects. My current BP is around 145/105 and sometimes higher. Is there a natural substance which helps with BP that anyone knows of? Or, do I need to ask the Doctor to change me to another med?
Avatar f tn I take ramipril for my blood pressure.
