Common Questions and Answers about What is quinapril used for

accupril

Avatar n tn Quinapril: If you are not being treated for high blood pressure, there are off-label quinapril uses that includes treating kidney problems in people with scleroderma, among other things, and symptoms of congestive heart failure. Do you have kidney issues? Atenolol is a beta blocker and mainly used to stimulate the heart to beat more rapidly. Aspirin is almost always given to patients with heart issues to help prevent blood clotting.
Avatar m tn Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old). Said it could be Atypical Angina that was causing the chest pain but no way to test accurately due to my age and said he he could not tell me it wasn't PAH.
Avatar m tn That made my a bit skeptical. I want to know if taking amlodipine in conjunction with quinapril for a number of years, for reasons other than heart problems, would basically nullify the value of the NT-ProBNP test and whether there could still be something going on. He said to get more exercise and that he didn't think he would need to see me again. All well and good if all the assumptions are correct.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar m tn First and foremost your father needs to control and manage his diabetes to prevent diabetes side effects. You don't mention what this is, or what his levels are, so I cannot provide suggestions. However, I dislike doctors who dispense drugs like candy instead of finding the cause and cure of the health issue/concern. All drugs have side effects, some nastier than others. I wouldn't be surprised that your father is taking medication to counteract the side effects of a previous drug/s.
Avatar m tn I am thinking of holding off, telling my doctor what my resting pulse and bp is (I already take quinapril, 5mg per day). I have business travel coming up over several weeks and I think I will ask for a 30 day heart monitor test. I wonder how a 24 hour holter shows "normal" but now the doctor wants me on toprol? He said I can continue swimming but my performance won't be as good. And that I might have to drop quinapril if my bp goes too low. I will be taking 30mg (the lowest dose).

Avatar n tn I came across some soma and really do not know what it is for. is it a narcotic? is it addictive?
Avatar m tn Too bad your cardiologist didn't also run the Free T3 and Free T4, so we could see what they were in January, as well. Many doctors do not routinely order Free T3. I had one doctor tell me it was used only for "research purposes", not for diagnostic or treatment purposes. What a crock!! You said: "I do not trust the lab results on TSH was 7.65 now. T4 did not budge"........... when was that? I see TSH of 4.55 (Feb 25, 2011) and 7.64 (July 15, 2011), and 1.
822617 tn?1249596523 I have never posted a poll before. Hopefully this will work. I just wanted if anyone used preseed or preconceive or nothing and got a bfp. Thanks again for your replies!
Avatar m tn my cholesterol is under control and at decent levels My blood pressure was borderline high in the past and I have been taking quinapril for a while now. (max dose). My blood pressure was better at ~ 120/90. I also take bupropion xl and was taking olanzipine. I have stopped the olanzapine, after long term use. Coming off the olanzapine, I have had more anxiety and more emotion, and have not slept very well. After stopping olanzapine, my BP was checked and was now high again at 148/110.
Avatar n tn Well, its most common use is for anxiety - which is fairly common for people with ADHD. You can read more about it here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propranolol What I don't understand is why your doctor didn't explain this to you. Especially if you are prone to anxiety, the not knowing only makes it worse.
