Common Questions and Answers about What is quetiapine medication

seroquel

Avatar f tn i was just wanting to know if lamotrigine and quetiapine can cause sore throats I've been taking these meds for 4 days and I started getting sick after day 2
Avatar n tn m not entirely sure why I was prescribed this medication. The reason I am not sure is because I just started to see a new doctor and it is hard for me to be in a big building that I'm not comfortable in because I have agoraphobia. She told me to take these pills at night time and not to drink alcohol with them. I am always scared to try new pills because I have had a bad history with taking different pills and the side effects. Should I be worried?
Avatar m tn I take lamotrigine for my depressive episodes , this is what I call my staple medication as my combinations rely on this medication to treat my depressive episodess. Like a lot of people with bipolar I can't take antidepressants they make me very ill. I was taking depokote with this but like you we found that it stopped working I just started getting horrendous side effects. I took quetiapine for my mixed state episodes and to try to help my anxiety.( rather than a benzo..
Avatar n tn The good news is Cipralex (escitalopram) is a very safe and effective treatment unlike older products. Seroquel (Quetiapine) is a little more sensitive to competing liver challenges via the CYP450-3A4,5. So keep any alcohol intake to a minimum and drink plenty of water just as a benny for your kidneys. Just be careful with "natural remedies" as many of them are as dangerous (or more so) than prescription meds.
1052851 tn?1307741160 Finding the right mood-stabilizer, if that's what your doc. is prescribing it for is really like looking for a needle in a haystack.....Even for an excellent, experienced Doctor like I have. I am extremely sensitive to meds and just taking a few mgs. it acts (so my doc. informs me) like a lot more on most other people. Tried Abilify and Lamotragine as adjunct to my anti-depressant hoping it would give me more energy and although I'm slim, I didn't want the wait gain.
Avatar m tn I think you need to talk with your doctor about a medication to lower you heart rate. Beta Blocker is one commonly used and rather effective in controlling my atrial fibrillation driven heart rate. My sleep HR goes into the 50s and up and about is under 100, perhaps in the 70s if sitting and typing, like now. A resting HR over 100 should be treated, I understand.
1052851 tn?1307741160 Can you tell me what is in Zeldox that is not in Quetiapine, and if there are any other meds I could try that wouldnt cause these side effects but also not make me gain such a massive amount of weight?
1052851 tn?1307741160 This means that the chance of developing unwanted side effects, such as weight gain, may increase by adding Abilify to Quetiapine. This is not to say that an additional weight gain will occur, however there is a risk. While these two drugs are both in the same class, they still are different drugs and some of the side effects do vary between them. For example, Quetiapine has been shown to be more sedating than Abilify.

Avatar f tn What is the lethal dose of aripiprazole, quetiapine and lamotrigine? Mix of them.
Avatar f tn Hi! I'm just trying to do some research for my friend ... She's been on Quetiapine (an atypical antipsychotic) for about 2yrs, but previous to this she was diagnosed with borderline hypothyroidism. Suddenly, she has fallen really ill and blood tests have confirmed minor hypothyroidism (T3 levels around 9)... but the symptoms look like hyper!
534105 tn?1226157177 If you stop a medication and right afterward get symptoms you've never had before, it's withdrawal most likely -- never overlook the obvious. Your doctor will, so you have to look out for things. The fact the symptoms are diminishing may mean the withdrawal is passing, assuming that's what it is.
Avatar n tn i have pb disorder and have no sex drive i take 200 milagram sodium valprate and 300 milagram quetiapine a day is there any thing to take or do to get my sex drive back i am 43 and my wife is only 35 and it frustrates her..
Avatar f tn Have to be honest I was only on that for a while because it was activating and kept me up at night. I also had a problem with heart palpatations (I believe everyone has to get an EEG first as I did) so I had to discontinue it and change back to a previous medication with my psychiatrist's superivision. But some people have done well on it so it depends. It is often activating though so if you have that problem you could ask your psychiatrist if you could take it in the morning.
Avatar f tn s taken a while for my doctor to let ME be the judge of how the medication is workiing. The main benefit for me on this drug is that it puts me to sleep, which is why I take about an hour before bed time... I've noticed that it does help reduce anxiety levels, but have never heard of a pdoc just prescribing it for someone on an "as needed" basis... Like any drug, it takes a few weeks to really get into your system.
Avatar f tn Who prescribed the quetiapine? If it was a counselor or therapist, what kind of help does he or she suggest, and is he or she any help? You are totally within your rights to find a new doctor if not. Also, get going on an exercise regime. It can do wonders for emotional issues. No matter what has happened to you in life, you still have a choice about the person you turn out to be.
Avatar f tn all i want to do is jump up and down and scream and sing and talk to anyone who is there, and if no one is there i will talk to myself. I get all these ideas of things i want to do and if someone suggests something to me, it's a brilliant idea no matter what it is! I twitch all over, especially my leg will twitch and my hands will shake badly because i have to move fast i cant be slow i have to keep moving and if someone talks to me and i have to stand still, i get soo irritated and angry!
Avatar f tn at night and stop panic attacks, I been on the medication for 6 years. I don’t have schizophrenia or bipolar disorder so I don’t believe I should be on this medication to begin with but I know I am on a very low-dose. As well I have been on clonazepam for 14 years, 2mg in the morning and two at night. I have tapered myself off of the clonazepam so I’m down 0.25 mg at night and one in the morning. I really want to come off of the quetapine and I was wondering how to start coming off of it?
Avatar m tn Well my medication is going to have to be changed because of the reaction I had to it when it was increased and I didn't gain any weight on Geodon so I was wondering what other antipsychotics have a low chance of causing weight gain like Geodon because I used to be fat and got picked on a lot for it and don't want to go through that again.
301640 tn?1302652334 Some anti-anxiety and/or anti-depressants cause weight gain. A frequent side effect of quetiapine is weight gain. You might talk to your doctor and see if there is a medication that could give the same results without the side effect.
644988 tn?1236364548 Citalopram (Celexa) is an SSRI, and that whole group of very useful drugs is unfortunately notorious for producing night sweats. You can google it.
