Avatar n tn Is okay to take 2.5 mg of Norvasc, 120mg Cardizem and Topamax? This discussion is related to Discontinuation of Norvasc.
Avatar n tn Recently, became a vegan and my BP has dropped so I tried to d/c the atenolol once again. Will I ever be able to get off this med. my BP is 101/60 just on 5 mg. of Norvasc.
Avatar f tn Of the blood pressure medications you listed, Losartan and Norvasc are medications often used to treat blood pressure. Having a lower than normal blood pressure is not dangerous unless there are associated symptoms (light-headedness, fatigue, dizziness, etc.). If experienced, you should speak with her cardiologist/physician about titrating her medications appropriately. Of note, one medication that she should also be on is a beta blocker (given her history of unstable angina).
404682 tn?1324579818 You may be accustomed to a higher blood rate so when the meds cause your BP to drop it may take time for your body to get used to the lower levels which will make you lightheaded. It takes time for your bidy to get used to the effects of a lower than expected BP. You should work with your doctor to find a drug that works for you.
Avatar f tn I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.
Avatar f tn com/product/aspadol-100mg/) (Tapentadol) tab is a painkiller that works in two ways to treat mild to serious short-term (acute )and long-term (chronic)pain.Aspadol 100mg Tablet (Nucynta) is a narcotic analgesic that is medicine used to treat moderate to severe acute pain. [Aspadol 200mg](https://buynetmeds.com/product/aspadol-200mg/) medicine is designed for someone with migraine pain or uncontrolled body pain. Powerful ingredients of the tablet help to relieve pain quickly.
Avatar n tn The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains. Norvasc is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It dilates blood vessels and slows the heart to reduce blood pressure and the pain of angina. Calcium channel blockers may be needed long term. Medications may also include beta-blockers. However, in some cases of spastic angina, beta-blockers may be harmful.
Avatar f tn t the Nephrologist be aware if renal artery stenosis is causing the HTN? What tests are able to determine if there is renal artery stenosis? Is it via blood test or CT scan/ultrasound? Which medication would you consider increasing? In regards to the prograf, currently taking 2.5mg 2x daily. Almost one year post transplant. Very worried. As always, thank you for answering my questions.
Avatar f tn I can't help you with the medicine issue, but I can give you some tips regarding the insurance issues. If your physician writes on the prescription something like "do not substitute generic" then the insurance company cannot deny you the use of that medication. They can always deny payment for any type of treatment, but unless it's an extremely expensive medication they will try to get you to go cheaper just to save themselves a buck.
Avatar n tn t want to deal with low blood pressure, it is just as dangerous and can be induced by taking too many medications. I tried Verapamil, didn't work for me for the migraine's was an ok blood pressure medicine when used in conjunction with lisinopril. I think it reduces your blood pressure by expanding your blood vessels, or making them more elastic or something like that, anyway it works a little different than many other blood pressure meds.
Avatar n tn changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....
Avatar f tn my pmd is trying to down play this, but I am concerned that this is a big red flag for me, and I should listen to my body. what do you think? I wonder if I should push to have the eps to see if there is an actual arrhythmia which would be taken care of with an ablation.
1243333 tn?1296446902 High blood pressure is not good for the heart and can lead to decreased function and an increase in angina. Your blood pressure should really be less than 140/90 and if you have diabetes or chronic kidney disease it should be less than 130/80. If you aren't on the maximal dose of Norvasc which is 10mg and the highest dose of Valturna then your physicians should probably start another bp agent such as Hydrochlorothiazide or increase the cattapress patch. Why are you on spironolactone?
Avatar f tn I am 32 yr old female who has been taking a diuretic since I was 20 for HBP. Now I am also on norvasc which isn't working and is causing angina. The doctor has tried me on several meds with little to no results or severe side effects that made not able to take a cpl of them. I've only had a CMP and CBC done for tests. I've been to him every month for the past year now and he just switches me to a new med without testing anything.
672586 tn?1280933658 I was prescribed by my Internist recently Norvasc 2.5 mg with Metoprolol 25 mg. I used to take Metoprolol with Diltiazem CD 120mg 2X /day for almost 2 months but noticed a "burning chest pain" with Diltiazem that's why I stopped using it. But now I'm afraid to take Norvasc, too.
Avatar n tn From what I understand, once you have an episode the docs want to drive your cholesterol to unnatural levels with drugs. My LDL is 110, which is well below what is recommended.
Avatar n tn I have a question. Are drugs in the benzo family ever used to treat seizures? As in Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, Ativan, Restoril, etc? I have simple partial seizures and was on xanax on an "as needed" basis to control some nervousness about going back to college. I was on it for about 2 months. I started realizing I got less of my sensory and motor seizures which have always been uncontrollable since I started getting them back in 2000.
Avatar f tn and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg. Having read so much about Hypertension and its medications, I'm inclined towards the second opinion, i.e. 50 mg tenormin in combination with 5 mg Norvasc. However, I don't have a problem with the first opinion. My problem is with the third; I prefer to keep taking Tenormin. I Think it is also important to say that I have no side effect problems from Tenormin.
2095551 tn?1333122531 There are other calcium channel blockers like Norvasc out there that may not produce as much swelling. I would talk to your doctor to see if there is a different medication you could try. You also might want to consider adding a beta blocker like atenolol especially if you have a high pulse rate as this can cause your blood pressure to be higher.
Avatar n tn There is patient assistance programs out there where you can contact manufacture if med is high and you may be able to get it free. There is also clinics like HealthRite that provides free meds and health if meet criteria. Talk with your doc and research on internet. Stopping meds needed can kill you.
Avatar m tn Norvasc has a lot of side effects. Do you know what your at home BP was usually before you started taking it?
Avatar f tn 1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?
572651 tn?1530999357 In the meantime I will be talking to my urogynecologist and cardiologist and trying to see what they say. The simple test will be go off the Norvasc and see if my symptoms improve. Maybe it still is caused by my MS but I have hope that this is a solveable problem by eliminating this drug. Please get in touch with me if you have the same scenario or any ideas for me.
