Avatar f tn I am 32 and we r planning for a baby now. I have been on and off hypothyroid treatment from 2002. but my TSH was never higher than 11.5(thatz my highest reading before the last week's test result which is 37.62). My T3 and T4 are always in normal range. but i have a slightly higher antibodies. My TSH was 7 in june2011 and so i was on Levothroid 0.025mg for 9 months. Then my TSH dropped to 0.23. So i was asked to stop my medicines. After 2 months i again took a TSH test. Now TSH is 37.62.
Avatar n tn I am one of those (rare?) people who do well on Armour thyroid. In many forums, people complain about it being useless since the reformulation and switch to Erfa. However, I briefly tried Erfa as well and did not like it; it tended to make me hyper and I had to multi-dose it, whereas Armour can be taken once in the morning without problems.
Avatar f tn I took 200mcg of Synthroid for about 13 years, now they have changed my dosage to 125mcg of Levothroid. I think that everyone is different when it comes to dosage and how long it will take for your body to show some kind of difference. I had to be tested every 6 weeks with so may dosage adjustments. Just make sure you keep your appointments when it comes to checking the hormone levels.
1263014 tn?1318032697 For example, some contain lactose and if a patient is lactose intolerant that may cause a reaction. One cheap filler that is famous for reactions is talc and is used in most OTC drugs. It Is rare he says, but does happen. Three days later on the brand Levothroid, I am totally headache free and feel great!!!! I hope this helps someone else with the same experience. I switched after only 30 days post TT. I think its important to give your body time to adjust before trying a switch.

I got diagnosed at 4 with juvenile hypothyroidism at age 4 I didn't grow the two years prior to that. All was well until 2009 i had a miscarriage two months later my levels went crazy they dropped my dosage in half it was horrible. Ever since then i' ve had hormone level problems and put on an extra 25 pounds.
Avatar f tn He asked me to go on your website for help with a list of questions to ask the rheumatologist. Is this possible for lupus or Celiac Disease?
Avatar n tn what is the difference between levothyroxine and thyroxine if they both are the same dosage.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar f tn Your Free T4 is a little low, but that is probably because you are taking cytomel as well as the Levothroid. Your T3 looks a teeny bit low, but if you feel good, it's good enough. Your TSH is low. This is just a guess, but; Your TSH might be low because of your Adrenal glands. When your adrenal glands get tired, they can inhibit TSH production to slow the thyroid down. The slow adrenal glands make the metabolism slow down to a rate they can keep up with.
Avatar n tn That is one way to look at it, if the doctor is too dense to order the proper tests and determine what your hormone levels actually are. Changing your brand of medication was a mistake, and shoddy on the part of whoever did it. That is going to further muddy the waters. You need to get that resolved with the next doctor you see. In the mean time you will have to limp along on the lower dose of a new brand until you can find a better doctor.
Avatar n tn P So, the answer is yes, you can take it. What the potassium iodide does is occupy the thyroid in place of regular iodine to prevent radioactive iodine nesting in your thyroid and causing thyroid cancer. I'm presuming you are hypothyroid since you are taking l-thyroxine. A pokey thyroid is actually a bit of a protection (the folks without one don't need to take the potassium iodide at all).
1182559 tn?1305787988 Yes - most likely hashimoto's with appropriate increase in levothroid w/ TSH of 5.9. The nodule should be considered for FNA biopsy. 90-95% of these are benign. The overall size of thyroid is normal.
Avatar m tn Taking yourself of medication is dangerous. Have you asked Walmat or Walgreens what their price would be for your meds. I know that they offer large discounts to people without insurance. You could (Should) inform your doctor of your situation, they should be able to help as well. As far as the Hypo/Hyper...if you type that into google you will find some great reading. From what you say..you seem hyper but "How long have you been off your meds" could be a withdraw side effect.
