What is hydrocodone used for

Common Questions and Answers about What is hydrocodone used for

vicodin

Avatar f tn The cut-off value is chosen based on the purpose for which it’s being used e.g. whether for forensic or medical reason. Ask your doctor about this cut-off level. Is the lab detecting minor amounts of hydrocodone -- then this is normal for codeine metabolism. But if it is detecting a therapeutic dose of hydrocodone, then its presence can't be due to the metabolism of codeine. Here's a reference for your doctor's use: http://www.wardelab.com/22-2.html#t1 I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn It is hydrocodone or vicodin. I believe norco is just the brand name. It comes in strengths of 10 mg and 7.5 mg and maybe 5 mg hydrocodone and also includes acetaminophen.
Avatar m tn There isn't an OTC for Hydrocodone. Try looking it up under herbal remedies. Maybe there are some similar herbs that can help. If I know what type of pain and where you are experiencing it I'm sure we could help you more.
Avatar n tn What dose did your dr give you of norco? 5/325, 7.5/325, 10/325? Norco is a different name brand of lortab with the same narcotic in it as lortab & vicodin which is hydrocodone. Norco has LESS tylenol in it....which is where the 325 comes in. Usually when you get your lortab it probably says hyrdocodone 10/500...so he is just reducing the amt of tylenol b/c it is hard on your liver. Hope that helped you some!
1405919 tn?1281175167 I keep reading- "hydrocodone may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide." Anyone feel like giving a few examples of these "other purposes?" Very curious. Doctors??? Patients??? Anyone have any beans to spill on this subject? Thanks a bunch!
Avatar f tn It doesn't surprise me your doctor isn't giving you Vicodin for a headache. What does surprise me is you can't take Tylenol. My understanding is the recommended daily amount is ok. It's when people take excessive amounts that it becomes a problem. Many people have taken Tylenol with there interferon shot while on treatment for hepatitis C. Are you sure your doctor just doesn't want to give you Vicodin? If I were you....
590280 tn?1310087366 Percocet is Oxycodone and Vicodin ES is Hydrocodone.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
703238 tn?1297098358 I take hydrocodone when I need a break from the depression and pain. I am most often depressed and at times suicidal. I feel normal when I take it. I have taken it intermittently for 20 years and have no addiction. The most often I have taken it is once a week. Also, taking 150mg of cymbalta lifts the depression and physical pain. I can not find a dr. who will prescribe this amount. I only have a few extra a month so I exist in depression and pain for most of the time.
Avatar m tn ve been in pain for about 20. For most of that time, I ran the gambit of opioids from hydrocodone to morphine to fentanyl. If it was on the market, I was eventually told to take it. I got good relief with opioids, but even at the very beginning, I had a tolerance problem. My mother is the same way. She takes a med once and then she's taking the highest possible dose -- not because she wants to, but because the lower doses do not work. I am the same way.
599170 tn?1300973893 And again what works well for one does not necessarily work as well for another. It makes no sense that Vicodin is more effective for me that Percocet is but it's true in my case. I hope that the information is helpful and addressed your question. If not or if I have misunderstood please feel free to rephrase your questions. Best of luck with your surgery. Please let us know how you are doing.
Avatar m tn re on the right track. If you think that tapering is the best option for you right now, then by all means. Everyone is different, and I was one of the ones who opted to just go CT with the pills all together. I didn't have the willpower to NOT take the pills regularly instead of just tapering. If there were pills around, they got swallowed with a glass of milk or water like my everyday routine used to be. I'm not over 70 days sober and happier than ever. You can do this...keep posting!
Avatar n tn What is causing the cough? Thats the question that needs to be addressed. I'm assuming you are working with your vet about it?
Avatar f tn If you tooth breaks or is connected to your mandible than your dentist will most likely order you Percocet (oxycodone), which is a bit stronger than hydrocodone. However hydrocodone works better for me than oxycodone. Every one's system is different. I doubt you will be able to talk for 8-12 hours straight post-extraction, with or without pain medication. You will most likely have some swelling.
Avatar m tn Norco IS hydrocodone. I'm not sure what you are asking, but Norco also comes generic and is rather inexpensive.
12946799 tn?1427894912 I went for years believing that every woe I ever had, was attributed from residule effects of being busted up so badly and healing crooked.... I am now in a catagory of Fibromalgia.... It is a broad term used for too many unexplainable things. It is a syndrome not a disease, but for the life of me I can't wrap my mind around it.. I have attempted different online groups with other people diagnoised the same.... "Gentle Hugs"...
Avatar f tn 15 years and 4 seizures (from overdoses) later, I finally quit and have been clean now for 5 months. This medication is dangerous and withdrawal from it is extremely hard; it does NOT let go easy. Please, please consider an alternative, and if not, at least proceed with extreme caution in using it. Good luck; hopefully the injections will start working very soon.
Avatar m tn Initial first two weeks immobilization is necessary for the newly placed sutures from being disrupted. But immobilization should not be for more than this period as this would lead to stiffness in the joint and permanent damage. Initial physical therapy is very mild, active lifting begins at 4-6 weeks. Physical therapy has to be continued for several months after surgery to expect complete recovery. Follow the advise of your doctor and discuss the above mentioned possibilities. Best.
Avatar m tn Oxycodone is an opiate analgesic which some people feel is a stronger than hydrocodone, and comes in a long-acting/ extended release formulation called Oxycontin. Maybe ask your doc about Oxycontin?
