20003388 tn?1515166040 Unfortunately yes, I have tried CBT for both sleep and my anxiety disorders as well as my OCD and never had any success. As far as asking my doctor's, I've come to realize they know very little about the medications they prescribe. I recently found out the average doctor only has to take a 3 month course on medications (not sure exactly how true this is, my therapist claims this is true. He has 4 phd's and a masters.
Avatar f tn t know if these side effects are just in my head, if the numbness is just my inability to deal with problems or if it is actually the Fluoxetine. Should I up my dosage or ask if I could change meds???

Then again, everyone has their own peculiarities when it comes to this stuff. Melatonin is a hormone made naturally by the body to set the body clock and as an antioxidant. It doesn't affect serotonin in any direct way, but obviously if you're not sleeping well it won't help serotonin do its thing.
Avatar m tn He said nothing wrong in me and wrote Mustong (a herbal compound), Alprazolam and Fluoxetine tablets. Accordingly I used but, no result I observed. I gone thru some medical books for sexual impotence and gathered some information on various tests. Later, when I was 29, again I met the same urologist Mr. X and expressed my willing to go for Doppler ultrasound test and attended, which revealed that there was arterial insufficiency.
Avatar m tn My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
Avatar n tn Another way to avoid withdrawal is to take fluoxetine (Prozac) for a few weeks after stopping Lexapro (or any other SSRI), then simply stopping the fluoxetine. The very long half-life of fluoxetine causes it to leave the body over a period of months, tapering so slowly that the person doesn't have any withdrawal. My recommendation at this point would be to go back on a low dose of Lexapro--maybe half of what you used to take.
Avatar m tn Hey, I have been taking the generic fluoxetine hydrochloride 10 mgs tablets for about 1.5 years now. My pharmacy recently changed manufacturers and the tablets are now blue... I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-...
Avatar f tn What you're now on is Prozac. Two problems potentially here. First, you can't just quit Zoloft -- you need to taper off it as most people get some withdrawal from quitting these meds. That most likely explains your symptoms more so than the Prozac. Often, at the tail end of a taper down, Prozac will be used to help when withdrawal is bad because it's considered easier to stop taking, but that's only at the very end of the taper.
Avatar m tn In my opinion, you are taking WAY too many different medications. Sometimes, "more" is not always better. If it was working for you, then I would say..."great, keep doing what you're doing", but obviously the regimen you're on isn't effective. I would discuss that you are still struggling with a high level of anxiety with your MD, and even seek a 2nd opinion about your meds/condition.
1063764 tn?1272821064 Hi, I've been on levothyroxine since July, the smallest dosage. I'm also taking 20 mg of fluoxetine. The past few years I've been very tired (which I contribute somewhat to the fluoxetine and is normal), and my memory seems to be declining (way before I started taking the fluoxetine). I am only 22 years old, so I'm HOPING it is due to the hypothyroidism. My question is if this is a possibility or not? I have trouble concentrating, but I'm pretty sure it's not ADD or ADHD.
Avatar f tn I was on fluoxetine (Prozac) for over a year from July 2011 then weaned off as was feeling and doing great and not wanting to be dependent on them, I had a bad week 5 week ago now with sleep so my doctor put me back on them and after 1/2 week felt great off 20mg at tea time, now this last week mainly from Wednesday I feel rubbish I know I'm getting 7/8 hours sleep but not feeling refreshed was wondering if changing to take it morning at 20mg and see if it works better or carry on tea time ta

Avatar f tn I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.

1817640 tn?1323045243 i am taking fluoxetine for anixety, panic i feel sick and nausea all day , i can only eat a little bit then i feel very full. i am also having heartburn with this does anyone else take this medication and if so do you have or know if these symptoms are normal?
6021583 tn?1413069126 I think you need a different psychiatrist. I know this is hard to do, but if what you say is how this is happening you're getting odd treatment. Are you saying you had an appointment but the psychiatrist wasn't there? That you've been on a med for two years and the psychiatrist isn't tapering you slowly off before putting you on a new med? And that this psychiatrist isn't responding to you? If this is how it's happening, you need a better doctor.
