Zyrtec is for the airborne allergies, such as pollen and dog hair, it's a strong antihistamine (anti-allergy) and its side affects can make you drowsy, but it doesn't affect me. I only take it during hay fever season, and avoid dogs. It's better than remembering to take a pill every day!

Hi Ohio: It's my experience and to my knowledge, once you've had a strong allergic reaction to something, yes, it will accelerate. And NO! Epipens are not expensive. I use Benadryl as my first line of defense once a reaction starts. Many times it works and I don't have to use the Epipen. I hate the way the Epipen makes me feel. So do ask your doctor. I don't want to scare you but severe allergic reactions can be a serious problem.

At the first suggestion of throat swelling take small sips of this antihistamine. Then drink a full dose. It take between 5 and 10 minutes for the tremor to set the unit off. It is not like it hurts or anything like that, but it still is not getting any easier after several months of this.
