Common Questions and Answers about What is epipen used for

epipen

Avatar f tn It should only be used in case of life threatening allergic reaction. Epipen is known to be associated with shaking esp. when the larger doses are taken. You should not take more than recommended dose; otherwise you may land up in complication. This is due to stimulation of the muscles. Hence, epipen should be better used under doctor's observation. If you are allergic to water following measures will help you- - Stay away from water as long as possible. - Avoid going in rain outside.
Avatar n tn The heart is regulated by nodes, the SA node is the primary pacemaker for our hearts, and when it is regulating things our hearts beat the best. Sometimes the SA node stops, fires rapidly/irregularly. Other times other nodes fire causing erratic, or quivering like v-fib. Epipens will increase your heart rate for a short while, which means the number of PVCs will increase in proportion. But to put this in a like perspective.
Avatar n tn Is Epipen available in India? If not, what is the alternative emergency treatment for anaphylactic shock commonly used?
Avatar n tn Most of the time in some situations epinephrine is used to save people from arrhythmia. I would go with the epipen and feel safe with it.
Avatar f tn s typical to retest at approximately 6 week intervals to make sure medication is right for you. Additionally, it takes time for your body to "heal", since you have really been ill, even if symptoms weren't real bad. The worse your symptoms were, the longer it might take for you to get well. With Hashimoto's, the antibodies attack your thyroid, to destroy it; as the destruction progresses, your thyroid will produce less and less hormones, which make you feel more hypo.
645800 tn?1466860955 My land-line phone goes out about every other month for weeks at a time, and even when it is working most of the time t is so noisy that it is hard to hear anyone. My cell phone is also not that reliable as I barely get any signal most of the time. I also don't have any neighbors near enough to be able to hear any kind of alarm as the nearest one is almost never home.
1639028 tn?1300617084 if you do do you struggel emotionally as well? what is it like for you? what symptoms do you get? how many reactions have you suffered from?
Avatar f tn Hi catie, Well you don't have to take meds for food allergies - unless you eat the foods you're allergic to of course! Zyrtec is for the airborne allergies, such as pollen and dog hair, it's a strong antihistamine (anti-allergy) and its side affects can make you drowsy, but it doesn't affect me. I only take it during hay fever season, and avoid dogs. It's better than remembering to take a pill every day!
Avatar m tn I was just wondering if ere was a name for this and what keywords I should be searching for in American online pharmacies because I really can't afford a doctor's visit to see what I'm allergic to and I have an epipen from my shellfish allergy.
230262 tn?1316645934 Hi Ohio: It's my experience and to my knowledge, once you've had a strong allergic reaction to something, yes, it will accelerate. And NO! Epipens are not expensive. I use Benadryl as my first line of defense once a reaction starts. Many times it works and I don't have to use the Epipen. I hate the way the Epipen makes me feel. So do ask your doctor. I don't want to scare you but severe allergic reactions can be a serious problem.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar f tn The other day my friend had a major asthma attack that almost sent him to the ER-- he thankfully had an epipen nearby. He thinks what triggered it was a laxative (sennosides in pill form) he took a couple of hours before. Is this even possible? And if so, should he be avoiding all things laxative? I wouldn't be asking these questions here, but he is too stubborn to go to a doctor like he should.
Avatar n tn No facial numbness but extreme dizziness and breathing difficulty. I have an epipen but have never used it. Does anyone know of a common allergy to food additives or preservatives. I have to eat out a good bit for my business and am getting very nervous about eating in restaurants. How can I narrow down what is causing these problems?
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
20451547 tn?1498215245 I have been having panic attacks ever since early 2015 when I was first ever stang by a wasp and went into anaphylactic shock.(the er doctor said I am allergic to bees/wasps/hornets venom. That day I was rushed back into the er and bum rushed by 5 different nurses and a doctor, one nurse asking me which arm I want the epipen in? I am like Idc I can't breath stab me! ) I almost died that day, and now I have been having panic attacks almost every other day.
Avatar f tn I think you are saying that you have "urticaria." Try this. Get yourself a bottle of liquid Benadryl, commonly used for children's allergies. At the first suggestion of throat swelling take small sips of this antihistamine. Then drink a full dose. This has always controlled the swelling for me, but in my case I have eaten something that I am allergic to and the reaction starts in the throat. For you, the throat swelling seems to be part of a systemic reaction.
4451049 tn?1387153437 The oldest reference (that I'm aware of) to 'what is a Herx?' when applied to Lyme disease is this one by Donna Herrell. http://www.angelfire.com/biz/romarkaraoke/Herx.html Now the word Herx is applied helter-skelter. One woman wondered if her newly applied nail polish gave her a 'Herx'. A Herx is real and presents with mild to severe problems. And the ever-asked but never decided "What is a Herx?
645800 tn?1466860955 It take between 5 and 10 minutes for the tremor to set the unit off. It is not like it hurts or anything like that, but it still is not getting any easier after several months of this. In fact it may be getting harder to do as I find I am not taking my Glucose reading as much as at first. I'm actually quite envious of the members here that do their DMD shots. I wish I could do it myself so much. I am very paranoid about bees and wasps.
Avatar f tn I have carried an epipen for the last 11 years for my son and Thank God we have not had to use it. But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. Or if you have any information on urticaria pigmentosa? ( I know alot about it but I always would like to know more. Please share any information you may have or experiences you incountered.
