what is chantix and how does it work

have wanted to for a long time. Does Chantix work, how well, how long did ya smoke, how many packs. How long does it take to work. I could use and would really appreciate any info on the matter. I've gone cold turkey befor but this 49 year old Bird aint as tough as she used to be. I did defer the Subloxone for hydro w/d tho after research. Any success stories would be most graciusly received.

Smoking provides immediate relief and over the counter meds or diet/exercise changes do not seem to work. Does it just take many months for the Nicotine to leave the system and for gas symptoms to stop? Do I just need to stick it out longer?

It also targets norepinephrine, which is like adrenaline, so it can very stimulating, which doesn't suit everyone. If you're an anxiety sufferer it can make it worse because of this. Now, here's the big question -- how did you get the wellbutrin?

So, I have heard horrible stories about the side effects of Chantix, how was it for everyone that has used it?? Despite what people say about the side effects, everyone I know that has used it has successfully quit smoking, but I'm nervous about about what they say it does. I have had several people tell me that they have horrible nightmares, have SUICIDAL THOUGHTS, and feel like they are just down right going crazy???

I also smoke and have gotten a perscription for Chantix. It is supposed to help me stop smoking. It releases dopamine slowly in your body to help you fight your cravings. My question is this: can Chantix also help with coming off of these pills? any advice will be very appreciated. I will post again to tell my story. Many people in their thirties that just had a heart attack one day out of the blue (this is what I am most afraid of happening to me) Does anyone know how to undo the damage that chantix is causing?

I have a twin sister also used the chantix and is going through the exact same thing. We need help and do not know what to do - we seem to have the doctors stumped. PLEASE help.

Last june i was hospitalized with pneumonia, being a smoker they put a patch on me, i am to understand that they are not for 24 hr use and should be moved from one place to another, when i was realeased i bought patches and had a very bad reaction my Dr.

He was even wearing his own clothes. Chantix does what it says for me with no side effects to date (unless you consider GREAT vivid dreams bad). It has really curbed my urges and cravings. Down to a few cigs from 2 1/2 packs. And the taste is so bad I only take one or two hits before I have to dispose of them.

I am just hoping someone can help me. I am a 34 yo female. I started having problems in Oct 2008 after taking Chantix for about a month. I quit taking the meds because I had a really bad reaction to it. I was angry, very emotional and thought of suicide. I have never been this way before and didn't like so I stopped the med. About a month later I had an episode where I was having slurred speech (alot) and I would drive to work and then sit there and think "how did I get here".

As for taking his prescription, the first week is a half dosage so you might really need to get your own. It is expensive, but depending on how much you are paying for your smokes, it will be worth it in no time. Many others have their own opinions on chantix but the success rate is fairly good for those who stuck with it. Side effects for me were vivid dreams and slight stomach upset. Do your homework Erin and whatever method you use, you will be better prepared.

does anyone know if chantix is hard on the liver? im taking it to stop smoking before TX? anyone knows of anyone who took it does it work?

IVe been on prednisone many times and the only side effect i ever notice is it makes me eat ALOT! I know it can cause alot of weird side effects though. Hope you feel better soon! PS this is just another reason why I wont try chantix to help me stop smoking! ive heard nothing but bad stories about it!

for some people chantix makes the addiction less than what it is without chantix...it makes it easier to quit. the problem is that it doesn't deal with all aspects of addiction, including addictive personalities and the behavioral habbits of smoking. anyway, i am not entirely sure what to suggest...but i'm glad you shared this. people should be aware of the risks and give it their very best try at quitting before resorting to it. see...

I will pay the $215 on monday for my shipment then I am waiting the 2 weeks suggested and beginning. Here is my question. I am also on chantix.. the stop smoking drug. So I did, and I will try, and maybe it will work, but I like what you did and can only hope that that is the way it will finally work for me too. That just little by little, over time, those urges WILL begin to fade and I can see that I'm smoking less and less and will just one day, like you say, "that's it!" I know we still need to go through the physical w/d, but if your down to just a few a day (from my normal 45+) then it would have to be a great deal easier.

I will tell myself if i clean the kitchen then i can have a smoke, or if i got to get up and make dinner then i can reward myself with a smoke. my DR, is putting me on chantix does it work or am i waisting my money?

I have had extreme breast swelling (visibly noticible) and tenderness, as well as very irregular periods. This is very weird and disconcerning. Does anyone know if it is just a temporary thing or maybe I'm having a very uncommon reation to it. Does anyone know if the nauseau and headaches subside over time. Not horrible, but really obnoxious! I just don;t want to do more harm than good.
