Avatar m tn The main effect of Carvedilol it is not to low the BP but to reduce the heart rate. Does he take other medication? It normally takes 3-4 weeks to get used to the medication, anyway, if his body behaves like mine, days of low BP can appear at any moment .... I am on the same dose of it for more than 4 years and right now I am having days in 80/40 range, but I am in a lot of other medications. Jesus.
Avatar m tn 175 dose X 2, and it gave me a lot of symptoms such as exhaustion and I do recall a lazy peristalsis (swallowing) issue, but my body got used to it, and he doubled it, then doubled it again. carvedilol is very effective at re-modeling the heart, which includes bringing life to 'stunned' heart cells that aren't dead but in limbo, so to speak, but it is a very difficult drug to take. I'd discuss the effects of carvedilol with your doctor.
Avatar n tn m so torn between trying to do what my doctor is insisting I do and with what my body is telling me but I also want to be doing what is best for this cardiomyopathy that they feel is either tachycardia or chemo induced. Thanks for reading and for any suggestions. I've tried addressing it with my cardiologist a little but he gets somewhat defensive when I question his recommendations.
Avatar f tn thank you everyone for your comments, my major concern at this point is my platelets cause they are not at a normal range and have not been for awhile. My platelets run in a 2 digit right now they are 47 so they are pretty low. My blood pressure is never high either, the blood pressure meds that I take at the moment are to help with my kidneys. I am going to call the doctor and get a better explanation .
Avatar m tn First observation I know is correct, Coreg and Carvedilol are the exact same drug, except Carvedilol is the generic form of Coreg. Increasing the combination would mean over 120mg, an unheard of dosage. You are already taking a gorilla dose and that can cause a drop of EF in my opinion. EF ratings fluctuate. I'd ask for a BNP test that is used to determine the level of CHF one has. Usually less than 100 indicates no CHF.
Avatar m tn Dear p1954 Carvedilol belongs to a class of drugs called beta blockers. It is responsible for inhibition of beta receptors present ubiquitously on the heart muscle. By blocking these receptors, it helps prevent the effects of adrenaline/noradrenaline on the heart thereby maintaining a low heart rate and reducing the energy expended by the heart per beat.
Avatar m tn That said, carvedilol lowers blood pressure, sometimes to an extreme. Were you taking carvedilol when your heart rate went to 150? After being off carvedilol, what is your blood pressure, and did your heart rate change after being off the drug? I'd ask your doctor if you should have a nuclear stress test to look for a blockage in your heart arteries, and/or a heart echo to look at valves, etc.
Avatar f tn I don’t know about that side effect.
Avatar m tn conclusion nonobstructive coronary artery disease markedly elevated left ventricular end-diastolic pressure.recommendation is medical therapy for heart failure only symptoms were shortness of breath at night before going to er. now on aspirin, lisinopril, carvedilol, bumetanide. its been three weeks and i have less energy now than when i went to er. any info would be very appreciated.
Avatar n tn Everyone reacts different on medication, so despite the low dose it could be the medication causing your problems. The Carvedilol is of course especially suspect if you did not have the symptoms before you started taking it. I suggest that you talk to your doctor about temporarily stop taking it to see if the symptoms subside. A bp of 140/100 for a few weeks is probably not such a problem. Or you could ask your doctor to switch to another betablocker.
Avatar m tn s at time, so I have been prescribed Carvedilol to help control the heart rate. My question is, doesn't Carvedilol control hypertension as well...Why should I be taking carvedilol in addition to amliodipine?
Avatar m tn I would like to minimize the coreg and statin. The diet I am on is helpful for Nitric oxide and for endothelial health as well as providing some level natural ACE inhibition, and platelet aggregation inhibition, and is high in natural anti-oxidants. So, what will staying on 6.25 mg coreg and 10 mg pravastatin do for me in the long run? I would like to try going back to 3 mg coreg for a bit if my echo is good and drop pravastatin all together.
Avatar f tn I was put on carvedilol, after covid, when I developed heart palpitations. After all the tests were done, they didn't find anything wrong. My doctor told me to stop carvedilol. So I did what he told me. And it has been an awful 3 weeks. I asked if I was having withdrawals from this medicine, He didn't think so or if I was it wouldn't last long. I know that the medicine is out of my system but has my body had time to readjust from it? I was taking 12.5 2X a day for 5 weeks.
Avatar f tn The reason it is not for the CHF itself but because I take statins for my cholesterol and they are supposed to inhibit the body production of Q10. My cardiologist think that they only have a "placebo" effect abd are useless.
1210142 tn?1266077031 I am currently on Plavix, Aspirin, Simvastatin, Lisinopril and Carvedilol/Coreg/. Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up. Then my PCP substitute it for Losartan- have been taking this drug/25 mg/ for a week and feel extremely dizzy and nauseated. The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
