1260320 tn?1270394906 I'm on Benicar HCT, have been for many years. Benicar is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!
Avatar n tn However, some patients complain from persisting cough for 6 months and even for longer time. A good alternative in this case is Angiotensin II receptor blockers (eg Candesartan, Telmisartan, Valsartan..).
Avatar n tn In June of 2008, I had a cardiac/echo stress test. I did fabulous during the stress test, and I felt very good during and after it. Quite innocently and accidently, the results showed what was called a "mild dilation of the ascending aorta." I then had my first ct scan, with contrast, a few weeks later. The results read "mild aneurysmal dilation of root of the aorta measuring 4.3 cm by 3.9 cm.
Avatar m tn what is different now, than in months past? That can be useful, especially in a case like this where you say the docs are puzzled. The thyroid test was probably a TSH, which would probably be high indicating that the thyroid hormone is low (like a seesaw). Should have not been released? Well, maybe. Then again, if every uncertain case was handled that way, then possibly your father could not have been admitted at all because all the beds were occupied.

Avatar n tn I came across some soma and really do not know what it is for. is it a narcotic? is it addictive?
Avatar n tn The important thing is not to lie down for two hours after eating. This alloows time for the stomach to pass the contents down to the intestinal tract. You must also avoid "floor-living", which is eating while lying down or on a couch or in bed. You should also avoid chocolate and coffee, which contain chemicals called methylxanthines, which relax the lower esophageal sphincter, the "valve" that prevents regurgitation of fluid upwards.
822617 tn?1249596523 I have never posted a poll before. Hopefully this will work. I just wanted if anyone used preseed or preconceive or nothing and got a bfp. Thanks again for your replies!
Avatar n tn It may be replaced with valsartan or candesartan which do not usually cause this side effect. The verapamil usually does not cause this side effect. This may not be related to your medications, and chronic cough or ' bronchial asthma' may actually be cardiac in nature ( e.g. CHF). Make sure your physician takes this other consideration into account.
336017 tn?1263579257 Some other ARBs and ACE inhibitors may work less effectively or not at all (some ARBs I know to be good - besides telmisartan - are valsartan, irbesartan, candesartan. Most of them are good EXCEPT for losartan, which is a surmountable antagonist and, theoretically, would lose its effect over time). Next fact: you need to take a high dose.
Avatar f tn Has anyone any experience with developing widespead multiple chemical sensitivity and allergic reactions to all kinds of foods and unknown allergens involving swelling of the tongue and respiratory distress following a medication for high blood pressure? This is a senior citizen who is in otherwise very good health but is losing so much weight because she cannot eat anything and this is baffling doctors.
Avatar n tn Well, its most common use is for anxiety - which is fairly common for people with ADHD. You can read more about it here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propranolol What I don't understand is why your doctor didn't explain this to you. Especially if you are prone to anxiety, the not knowing only makes it worse.
Avatar n tn I went for an MRI of my breast and found out that over the past four years my aortic root has dilated from 3.3 in 2005 to 3.7 in 2009. The biggest jump from 2008-2009 3.4 to 3.7cm. Does this mean I have an aneurysm? I don't have any of the risk factors. I am not overweight, have low blood pressure, never smoked, don't drink over 1 glass of wine. So what is the risks and what is the prognosis?
