Common Questions and Answers about What is benicar used for

benicar

Avatar f tn I was told by a notable researcher that 90% of the marshall protocol patients would not recover since it did not address the coinfections/viruses present. I was on the protocol and JackieCalifornia and I discussed it. That is why I am using a LLMD with a newer approach. My MP Dr did not even consider testing me for "other" infections. But Ree is correct that the Benicar helps the effacy of the antibiotics.
Avatar n tn I'm on Toprol XL, Cardizem, Benicar along with Lasix for HTN. I have a BUN of 32 (up from 24 a month ago) with a creatinine of 1.2. Can it be medication related? I am not overweight nor do I overuse salt, but am concerned about kidney failture.
1260320 tn?1270394906 I'm on Benicar HCT, have been for many years. Benicar is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!
Avatar n tn My blood pressure was 120s/60s on sotalol and Benicar. Is this opposite effect (higher instead of lower blood pressure) common with this medication? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I am taking Losartan, which is the generic of Cozaar. Like Benicar (which is not available in generic yet, I believe) it is an angiotensin II inhibitor. There are usually very few side effects associated with these drugs, but their action on the biochemistry of the body is complex, so anything is possible. I have Hashimoto's disease, which means I am HYPOthyroid. Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily.
Avatar n tn My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time. What could be causing this other than the fact that I just (3 weeks ago) had open heart surgery. I feel that it's one or a combination of medications causing this??? Does anyone else have side effects from this combination of drugs???
Avatar f tn I have tried many BP medications with some bad results. Thought we finally found one that worked. The doctor gave me Benicar 20mg and it helped (so did losing 20 pounds) but my BP was still borderline. Then he increased the Benicar to 40 mg. I am having some strange issues that I think are from the Benicar. When I awake from sleeping I have trouble opening my left eyelid. Once I am up this goes away.
Avatar m tn I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
Avatar n tn s be caused by the benicar? I also was put on 20mg of Paxil 6 months ago for anxiety I think due to thinking there was a problem with my heart from feeling the PVC's all the time. The PVC's would come and go for the past year, but now seem to be getting worse and worse.
Avatar m tn Did you have impotence before starting treatment for hbp? I know that Toprol can cause impotence, however 25 mg is a very low dose and shouldn't affect libido. I don't think your impotence is caused by narrowed arteries. A normal stress test (given that you pushed yourself maximal) makes CAD very unlikely. Your age makes it even less likely. Impotence can have a variety of causes. Narrowed arteries is not a very common cause. Medication side effects is common.
Avatar f tn Those are really good questions. I have done a lot of research on this disease. When is enough, enough? I think this is a question for your doctor but what I have heard from LLMD's is that they treat until symptoms are gone. I really do not think it is curable at this point. My personal opinion is that once it's spread throughout the CNS it is really tough to get rid of since it hides deeply into tissues etc....I think it's possible though that IV treatment could work.
Avatar n tn Mike, He just means you can feel them, Many people have them and never know its going on. The doctor is also right about the Benicar, I've been taking 40mg a day for a few years, never affected me. Bottom line, if your echo is normal and your heart is normal structurally, these are normally not dangerous, but they sure can be annoying though!
Avatar n tn My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?
Avatar f tn The chest pain has returned and the diastolic pressure is 53.I am currently on benicar hct 40/25 and my bp has been 126/53. Should I stop taking the benicar? Not sure what to make of the chest pain.I am a 48 yr. old female other wise in good health.
Avatar f tn t even think straight nor walk straight for that matter. My vision is blurry when pressure is high accompanied w/ CP and upper back/arm pain. I'm at my wits end .My cardi has ordered a Renal MRA. Am I going in the right direction and do you think I should be flying under these conditions. onederful This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/647761'>uncontrol high blood pressure</a>.
Avatar n tn and the other protocol is a research protocol that uses low dose antibiotics along with Benicar... it is called the Marshall Protocol.
Avatar m tn My resting pulse rate was between 50 and 60, now with benicar is above 70. My question - Is this really the medicine side effects ? which drug could be better to not affect my running performance? Am I really with high blood pressure, because I've read some people saying that for people who are very active, it's common to have low pulse rate and relatively high systolic pressure?
Avatar f tn Did your diet or exercise regimen change when you started taking this drug? This class of drugs is famous for making exercise more difficult, and also slows down the metabolism which means less calories are burned, etc. I had a rather impressive weight gain after I started taking a beta blocker and my cholesterol level increased, but apparently after my body got used to it, the weight went off and the cholesterol level was reduced.
159619 tn?1707018272 I do have white coat syndrome so it tends to run above 120/80 at the doctors office so he is hesitant to take me off the Benicar. My question, is it reasonable to expect to be able to get off blood pressure meds? I was told when I went on Benicar that it would most likely be for life, but I would like to cut back if possible. I have to admit I have no side effects from the Benicar, it has been a great drug for me. You thoughts?
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar f tn t know if I spelled it right) she is on this med for some time now and has big time side effects as in extreme fatigue and caugh. The fatigue is so bad that its hard for her to function. Her doctor REFUSES to switch her to anothr BP med, her doctor says "no way are these side effects from that med, this is the best BP med on the market and I will NOT switch you".
Avatar m tn Welcome and thanks for your question. A couple of thoughts, the first being that anytime you have chest pain, pressure or discomfort you need to get that checked out, it's not worth the risk. About your blood pressure, it is very unlikely that you would feel symptoms from a BP of 150/100, while high it normally takes a BP in the 200/120 range to really feel the symptoms. What you describe sounds like it could be the side effects of your meds.
Avatar m tn t know what to do next. Some doctors tell me the last thing I need to do is look for anxiety, and some say that's all I need to do. Half of them say go to the mayo clinic, but my health care provider doesn't cover that type of procedure where you go in and have a complete workup done. It would be very very expensive, and I just graduated college a year ago and don't have any money.
