Avatar f tn It really depends on why your vet put her on Benazepril? Is it for diagnosed high blood pressure - or is it to help the kidneys function better through increased blood flow? Benazepril is a good drug for either, but if it is merely to help the kidneys (in other words, if your dog does not already have high blood pressure), then extreme caution is needed.
Avatar n tn Beta blockers like metoprolol and ACE inhibitors like benazepril have been been shown to be of value in patients with congestive heart failure as well as for hypertension. Simvastatin is of value for patients with both diabetes and heart disease. Talk to your doctor and changes can be made to minimize the side effects.
Avatar n tn I was on benazapril for hbp for quite a while, developed a slight dry scratchy cough my doctor described as benazepril cough. He changed me to valsartan last week and thats where the real fun began :-( 3 days on valsartan and I was having horrible side effects of dizziness, rapid heart rate, general feeling of crappiness, even slight shortness of breath with the slightest exertion None of which I experienced with the benazepril.
Avatar m tn tony thanks for your response the benazepril is to treat the hypertension and to reduce protein loss through the kidneys the amlodipine also for hypertension and control her plood pressure which was elevated the plavix is to reduce the chance of blood clots i also give her fish oil and give her chopped green cabbage with meals , i have started to wake up and give her a meal at 2;00 am and seems to have stopped the vomiting of bile . when karly was diagnosed in oct of 2015 she weighed 9.
Avatar n tn my doc says Byetta is safer for liver people.
Avatar f tn ll guess that is a high cost (as is the case of MD Specialist) option and I doubt there is anything that can be done...could be wrong it may be possible to repair the heart valve, say. I have a repaired mitral heart valve myself.
Avatar n tn I am 75. I take 75 mg of atenolol and 40 mg of benazepril hcl every day. I had an echo stress test (speed increases every two minutes) and at 6 minutes my blood pressure starting falling so the test was stopped and the doctor said sometimes with blood pressure medicine that happens. He said my heart was fine. I had a by-pass 12 years ago. So do I have to worry?

Avatar m tn I have had 2 heart attacks (age 46 and 48) from clots in a tiny artery, branch of a branch of LAD and ever since have issues breathing when it's humid outside. I am working for 1 month in a carpenter shop with no A/C, only fans and it has been as high as 99. I think I've gotten heat exhaustion twice now, missed 2 days of work. This is not my career, only a 1 month learning experience and I'm considering going to half days, early mornings only.
Avatar m tn how much protein do you show in your urine? protein in urine could be a sign of progressive kidney failure. i am going to be taking a 24 hr urine in October 2009, hopefully the news is good. as far as the benazepril 10mg i haven't had any side effects...one of the most common side effects with blood pressure pills is a cough that could appear at anytime. also it is a good idea to keep your blood pressure below 130/80. sorry i took so long to answer.
Avatar m tn Here is what drugs.
Avatar f tn I was disqualified from a job process due to this medical condition called left ventricular hypertrophy. I take benazepril & amlodipine besylate for high blood pressure, and for migraines atenolol. I didn't know they were also used for heart problems. Is this condition treatable or cureable?

Avatar m tn t as bad as I thought, but she hasnt been eating very much the last few days. What else can we do to get her to eat? Is she in pain? or is she just too weak from not eating? How long does she have to be on the antibiotic for? Will she get her appetite back? I've read a lot of the threads on this website, as well as read Tony's guide. Thank you for any input.
Avatar n tn The fact that the side effect is not common does not mean that what you feel is not related to the medication. I cannot really say if the medication is causing you the problem or not. However if you feel that your neuropathy worsens with the medication, specially after doing the trial of going off the medication and seeing the symptoms improve, I think you should discuss this issue with your doctor, and consider changing the treatment. I hope you find this information useful.
88793 tn?1290227177 His movement and eating still very usual. Do you think I need to take him to the vet for a further investigation? Or it is the sign of his aging? End of life symptom? Please give me some advise. Thanks.
Avatar f tn No I don't think they tested me for Hashimotos, what is that? I don't really know how they know my thyroid is still working, I thought it was because I'm only on 30mg of Armour, and before that I was on 35 of Levoxyl and I was balanced I guess. My fear is my nodules will come alive again, and I'll be right back were I started from, but you don't think that is possible.
Avatar f tn I would suggest getting a second opinion from an alternative vet. My rationale for this is not that your current vet is incorrect in his diagnosis, but that a 2nd opinion (without advance warning of what the first vet has said) would either confirm or negate that diagnosis. The problem with a GD diagnosis is your vet may now be locked into a series of treatments that is inappropriate, if the diagnosis is actually something different.
Avatar f tn Out of sheer desperation I asked the local pharmacist for suggestions on what to do when I felt that way. The answer was shockingly simple and yet has at least partially helped me out. That answer was get some Gatorade and drink it. She said it was the salt and electrolytes that I was needing. It's not a cure but it does seem to help me in any case. I just want to know am I the only one out there that has LOW Blood pressure with this? thanks!
17566731 tn?1457903922 The best blood pressure medication for kidney failure dogs is Benazepril. Please encourage your vet to prescribe it and then check blood pressure each week to see if it has any effect. If it does not seem to be bring blood pressure down (or not enough), then a Calcium Channel Blocker should be added to the Benazepril. Blood numbers needed include: Creatinine, BUN, phosphorus, calcium, potassium, sodium, and sodium potassium ratio if given.
