Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic. We are going to see a doctor about this, but I would like a second opinion. What antibiotic would you recommend for her? This seems like a complicated situation.

d certainly mention the now-gone symptoms to the doc if they come back, explain about the good effect you had from a course of Avelox, and see what the doc says. There are a bunch of low-lying infections that could be what you had/have, and only a doc can tell for sure. If things don't sort out for you, then you might consider looking into Lyme further, and on that point we here might be able to give you some pointers.
I too had problems with Avelox. I don't even want to type it! lol... some people on another site recommened calcium and magnesium. I happened to be taking Milk Thistle and may have spared my liver from damage since it is an amazing healer of the liver. Spirulina is great for energy also Brewer's Yeast and Bee Pollen(make sure you're not allergic to it before you take it. andrew lessman's vitamins also seem to be great.
Certain meds can certainly aggravate anxiety. There is one script for urinary tract infections...don't recall name...that definitely had me in a high state of anxiety ...Many antidepressants do this as well as cold meds...decongestants..etc.
Ask your doctor if you could subsitute another antibiotic for what you are taking...most will cause gastric distress.....but not anxiety..
Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.
treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.

Out of many causes of ankle and feet swelling , one cause is Leg infection . That is the reason why your symptoms subside for a while when you take antibiotics . Whenever you get swelling next time , please get a CBP with ESR test done to know the specific causative organism and take treatment accordingly . Please consult a physician for the same . Symptoms went away for 2 months but came back briefly for a month then went away for good. I think there is a lot of validity to the fact that you shouldn't focus on it too much and carry tension in your pelvic floor thus aggravating the issue. I kept taking tamsulosin for several months then eventually quit taking that as well. Glad to put it behind me. No guarantees it works for anyone else, but worked for me. I guess if you have a couple thousand to spend, hop on a plane.

It's good to hear the ER worked you up for NGU and UTI. (UTI really is too rare in healthy men to be a serious consideration.) I also didn't realize you had been started on a full course of doxycycline. Once started, you should continue it. Since you don't have NGU and probably don't have either gonorrhea or chlamydia, I expect you will find your symptoms persist despite the antibiotic; my bet is that no bacterial infection is present.
I can barely breathe right now except for through my mouth. I cleaned the bedroom real good last night and is that what is causing me to feel this bad? I am yellow and green mucus when I blow my nose.
I also have swollen lymph nodes which came up on MRI. On both MRI and CT only found cysts in maxillary sinuses and some thickening, nothing else so ENTs do not think surgery would help.

t find other people who have overcome this issue or information about this side effect beside the fact that it exists. Is it possible that the avelox triggered some kind of autoimmune disorder that is causing my body to attack my tendons? how would I get it diagnosed? After a week it moved to my chest and about 14 days in, it was diagnosed as Phneuonia. After 8 days on avelox my tongue swole up. They changed me to another antiobiotic, and sent me off to an ENT who did an EMI of my head. He said that the problem with my tongue appeard to be nerve damage because the left side of my tongue was unresponsive when I tried to move it.
What could cause this? I did have a very bad migrane the day before I began to notice symptoms, could it be realted to that?
Did the doctor's do a sputum culture? It might be a good idea since it seems that your pneumonia is lingering. That way, they would get and idea as to what bug is causing the infection as well as be able to see what the best antibiotics would be. It is worth a shot...
I have had asthma for a every long time and my throat is swollen so it is even harder for me the breathe in this weather which temperature is up to 90 degrees F. It feels like i have something stuck in my throat and no way to get it unstuck. I also have a very difficult time swallowing, and every time i drink any type of drink my throat seem to get dry and it is very annoying. If there is any fast cure please post a to this.
I took it for 35 days, and things were well, more or less. Back in port, went to resupply on avelox, they didnt have it, doc put me on cipro/trinidazole combo. Now a week later and the pain is back in my urethra.
Could this be episodes of Herpetic urethritis? I think the avelox worked, but perhaps it was just a good month? The doc in port thought prostatitis (but he was also DDx-ing with wikipedia, i dont know if i trust it)

i actually had my follow up visit with my urologist yesterday and I inquired about moxifloxacin and he said that he it is not available in the untied states. my urologist was still unaware of what to do for me so he referred me to the infectious disease department because, as he said, they can do more extensive lab testing. i am beyond frustrated @ this point and i wonder how many men has had a similar problem.
