Thank you all for your feedback, am a little overweight but I never had shortness of breath before changing to metoprolol and atacand, plus I do exercises not less that 30 minutes daily, I watch my diet to include only the food with less or no bad fat and carbohydrates. I eat a lot of fibers, vegs and fruits etc etc....
Hi all I am 50 (will b 51 in few months), with high bp managed with Atacand plus and last visit my doc said im perimenopausal.
At the end of last year my cycle missed then it came on 18th Feb and lasted till 22nd March.
It then returned couple days ago and I've spent the day with horrible cramps and each evening around 6pm it's as it a tap has been turned on and I bleed profusely. I am going to my doctor first thing Monday but just wondered if anyone else has had this experience?
The important thing is not to lie down for two hours after eating. This alloows time for the stomach to pass the contents down to the intestinal tract. You must also avoid "floor-living", which is eating while lying down or on a couch or in bed. You should also avoid chocolate and coffee, which contain chemicals called methylxanthines, which relax the lower esophageal sphincter, the "valve" that prevents regurgitation of fluid upwards.
I already take Efexor XP 300mg daily, Alapam 30mg daily and medication for high blood pressure, Aldomet 500mg night and morning; Atacand 16mg daily, Dapatabs 30mg daily and 1800mg Caltrate following a bone density test, Somac 2 x 40mg tablets daily for Barrett's Disease and have a yearly endoscopy. Stress factors contribute to my general feeling of unwellness. I suffer with fibromyalgia and have arthritis in the spine and knees.

I assume you had a urinary catheter, just for a few days post surgery? What you describe is not at all uncommon from one of those tubes being used. Some Doctors argue that it is from long term usage, but many people have different symptoms from just a few days usage. I found I was going more often and to let out the same volume as pre-op, it was taking me less than half the time. I was also hyper sensitive.
I am now on betaloc 100mg half a tablet / 12 hours and atacand 8mg at lunch time. my BP is average 130/80 and my HR is average 70 bpm. I still suffer from these attacks of irregular heart beats lasting fo seconds and without any other symptoms. another doctor advised me to do an upper GIT endoscopy or barium meal. I am very much confused ...
My BP is under control 110/70, with a low dosage beta blocker and Atacand. I also stopped all weight lifting---something that I have done for over 35 year. Recently, i have the urge to weight lift as my upper body has literally shrunkj. My question is if I restricted my lifting dumb bells only, a max of 30 minutes 3x per week and not to exceed 25 pounds, would i be putting my self at any risk? I speed walk every day for an hours and i have no other restrictions.
A couple months ago I had an outbreak of shingles....in my throat. It was excruciating pain in my throat and ear. With medication, the blisters disappeared, but my sense of taste was all fouled up when I was able to eat again. At first, things tasted metallic or chemically, then that subsided and things tasted like cardboard, and now, I can taste mostly extremely salty or sweet food.
I wish they could feel what I feel so they would know this is no picnic for me. I would do anything to see straight again! I have not seen straight in 4 months now!

I am taking Crestor 20 mg a day, my ejection factor is 55 which they say is normal but I still take all these medicines for Congestive Heart Failure. Have you ever been tested for Atrial Fibrillation? If not, it is very important. It's when your heart races real fast. I have it and I am 61 years old but I take Multaq and Digoxin in very small doses. Some days I feel so weak. It seems like after four hours of doing anything, I have to rest.

You mention his depression. Depression is common anytime someone's heart show signs of wear and tear. There may be a chance that the issue is entirely psychosomatic. There are many documented cases in the literature where this happens.
I guess I am one of those (lucky) less than 20% that do convert spontaneously from the anti-arrhythmic alone. NSR....what is the real normal? I am on metaprolol and atacand so what is the real story? This chapter may be over but, the book is far from finished. It was so good to be able to walk nonstop from the parking garage (stairs up and down) all the way to cardiology without being out of breath. I suffered a lot from dyspnea. It was my only major complaint about having afib.

Thanks for the response. The heart rate and low bp is at rest. I sit and check it consistently at the pharmacy.
A couple of weeks ago, my blood pressure was around 110/50 and my pulse was usually in the 70's and 80's, unless my heart was racing, then it was around 120.
