Well i not going to take any..I want off the drugs. I don't have any craving for them, just hate the wd's...Why doesn't the Dr. want me off them??...The surgury - Im have an spinal cord stimulator put in.(2nd one)..It helps the pain..Has anyone heard of drinking green tea (found in the supermarket)for detox?
Children are very smart and they pick up on things going on around them much more quickly than we give them credit for. Do what you have to do for them without reservation. Also - keep asking questions here and doing research on addiction. Learn as much as you can and be prepared so that it's not as easy for him to pull the wool over your eyes. I'm here for questions if I can help and if you need someone to vent to. Good luck and follow your instincts... they're always right!!
Everytime she cried, they gave her morphine. She would tell them that she wasnt in pain. She was dep. about being there. They made her take it. This has been so devastating to watch. My mom is a fighter but they are forcing her to give up. Such a shame! ary This discussion is related to <a href="/posts/Addiction/Opioid-induced-Central-Sleep-Apnea/show/1704775">Opioid induced Central Sleep Apnea</a>.
Hi there, I'm tying up loose ends before my surgery Monday, and I have come across a concern and need to know if any of you have had this hiccup, and what to do. In the past few years, I have begun having a histamine reaction to Morphine and Dilaudid, which knocks out Demerol by association.
wd would also depend on if it is extended release and what not...but it is not too much different from what i have heard from a friend who withdrew from it...dose, time used and type all play a part...
I am really scared for them. Does anyone know what it does n how u act if u chew them they have been actin really diffrent lately is that why?
I have taken myself off several times only to not be able to work because of the pain but when I do take them I end up abusing them. What to do ? I have had legal problems too. I got a DUI from falling asleep at red light, I went to rehab and got divorced all because I started off the legal way. I also had a car accident because I fell asleep at the wheel. So please don't say there is a difference. What makes it worse is that I am an RN and knew what I was doing.
Oro but everything I read on here is all about Ms and other pain meds. I had to take hard drugs in the 90's and became severely allergic to everything from Ms to Vicodin; all opiates. Also to steroids; all of them. My body just rejected them and I ended up with some pretty interesting/frightening reactions and hospital stays. I was told in '97 not to ever let a doc give me steroids or opiates again. Good luck having brain surgery w/o them; am I right? Should I even get started with Dr.
I just spent 8 days in the hospital. I was given 15mg of morphine every hour. They released me with nothing and that is fine. Accept I feel like I am dieing. I am so scared, I dont know what is normal withdraw if I need a Dr. or what....
They're not going to give you morphine in the hospital!!! If you go to an inpatient detox, they'll give you things to help ease withdrawals and they'll monitor your blood pressure and make sure you're hydrated, but no one is going to give you IV narcotics or narcotics in pill form. It doesn't solve the problem. You need to decide what you're going to do and make a plan. YOu can go inpatient to detox; you can go CT at home, or you can taper at home.
I know they shouldn't make me chose but they are mad and think I am throwing my life away. Your right he will always be in my life I am raising his children, I want them to have thier father in thier life, CLEAN. He is a really good dad and the boys really love him. You asked me what I felt in my heart... I have never loved or cared about anyone as much as I do him. I want him to get better and come back to be with his family.
i have run low befor and used methods to suplement it but never run complete out o f the morphine, so I have cut it in to for four days it wasn't that bad . So my plan is to stop. Everyjingfo five dAys.
Only when I get a refill, and I can go back to over 100mg/day, do I feel normal. And recently I started vein-popping the 15mg morphine IRs; in an attempt to make them last longer, as taking them orally affords an incredibly low bioavailability level of morphine. I tried plugging them a while back, but that didn't work very well. But IV'ing the morphine was the last straw. I'm sick of it.
I say, consult a pain specialist, if this guy you're seeing isn't one, rather than an addiction specialist, FIRST. If you take morphine for the right reasons, what have you got to be ashamed of? That not being an addict; you're just experiencing the inevitable side effects of this class of drug. Whatever you do, don't let you're programming result in you denying yourself enough morphine to relieve your pain, yet keep taking too-small doses that will leave you in pain AND leave you dependant.
i read an article about how the drugs are stored in our tissues after we stop and over time our tissues turn over releasing the drug in to our brain therefore causing relapse or cravings. i have never heard of this and would like your thoughts on this. thank you....
My system is very sensitive to drugs and I have a lot of allergies to many different types and family of medications. I have respiratory issues with morphine in addition to little relief. So for the most part I deal with my pain and take Vicodin. In time your physician may feel more comfortable with you. As you build a relationship she may change her mind or at least order something that is more effective for you. Cost may be a factor also.
DEAR TUCK, WENT TO DOCTORS TODAY AND DECUSSED TO HIM ABOUT MY HUSBAND AND I WERE REALLY UPSET ABOUT THE MORPHINE FOUND IN US. WHEREAS ALL WE EVER GOT OUR DRUGS OR MEDS WAS THOUGH HIM. I TOLD HIM ABOUT HOSPITAL IN MACHIAS BUT HE SAID IT WASN'T SENT THEIR. THE URINE TEST WAS SENT TO SECON OF NEW ENGLAND IN WORCESTOR ,MASS. I ASK FOR A COPY OF OUR URINE TEST AND GOT IT. I TOLD HIM WE WANTED ANOTHER TEST BUT HE SAID IT WAS FROM STATE AND THEY WOULDN'T LET US DO IT SO CLOSE TOGETHER.
I had a busy day today and was so glad to get home but still taking 4 hydromorphones today, I hope to either deal with this volume or eliminate them. I still have some energy but the diareaah kicked in today but that's about all as far as withdrawals. You are lucky you do have any symptoms when you get off your meds.
I had neurosurgery in 1998, Dr. prescribed morpine and told me I would have to take it the rest of my life. I go to a pain clinic every two months to obtain the rx's. I take 90 mg of time released morpine daily. I just lost my 2 mos. rx. I am going to FL. on the 10th of this month and am quite worried that I will not have my rx. I also take neurontin for nerve pain, also lost. What can I expect? The pain clinic has a policy you loose if you loose.
For me I have found morphine to be not as effective as other drugs. Currently I'm taking Methadone and Oxycodone for break-thru pain.
Neither is Lortab. Both have paracetamol in them, which, after months or years of everyday use, will most likely take it's toll on the liver, esophagus or stomach, or all three. Pure morphine is a much better choice. Ask your doctor to do a liver function test (AST/ALT and ALP) while everyday on paracetamol and see for yourself. On the other hand, morphine, hydro/oxycodone (without paracetamol) in the doses you're taking, are highly unlikely to cause any liver toxicity.
About how long would it take for a person who is addicted to pain killers and morphine to begin to detox after his last dose? Is this detox dangerous?
I have asked my doctor, the one who prescribed these drugs, to help me get off the morphine...he was very casual about it and told me to skip a dose here and there! As I have tried this and find the withdrawl quite unbearable. I work 6 days a week and drive to and from work and I'm scared I'm going to cause an accident when I feel so sick from the meds. I'm not sure I have come to the right forum because I see alot of addicts who do it for the high, I don't get off on these!
Any one know anything specific about this? What other drugs are similar to this? Anything you may know...
I take morphine (avinza) 60 mg and percocet 10/325. I don't have insurance right now so I can't afford both scripts at the same time. When I take the percocet, it releives all my pain and allows my body to relax, but when I take the morphine it feels like it does nothing. I still have pain, stiffness, etc. I thought morphine was stronger than percocet, so why doesn't it work?
I have been taking Morphine Sulf 30 MG ER tabs off and on for about 2 months due to rheumatoid arthritis pain. I have not abused them in any way. I took a tablet 2 days ago, and things really fell apart last night. Here are the things I've been experiencing over the last 1-1/2 days: 1) Insomnia; 2) Restless legs; 3) sneezing; 4) diahrea; 5) Feel like ****; 6) Cold and hot flashes; 7) my eyes tear up; and 8) achy. Is there a way to taper off these things?
My Doctor prescribed first dihydrocodeine and then after the codeien didn't really touch the pain Morphine. (Severedol) Today I have to take 60mg of Morphine each day and since being prescribed this drug have been very cautious not to, quote, become an "addict". In fact, for the last 18 months the 60mg dose of IR Morphine has not increased at all.
There are supplements that you can take that will help with the wd's or you could go to the doctor and tell him/her what you have been doing.
