depo-provera

i've gone 6 months without getting it without being pregnant or anything like that. My doctor prescribed me Medroxyprogesterone about a week ago and told me to take it for 5 days until i get my period then start taking birth control once it starts. it's been about 8 days and i still havent gotten my period. she says that it you dont get your period for more than 3 months (without the medicine, naturally) then i have a great risk of uterus cancer.
Pre cancerous condition) so I need to reverse the cells so I can keep my uterus and have children. How many months does your doctor want you to do this? I will be doing this for 6 months. Why is this medication prescribed? Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat abnormal menstruation (periods) or irregular vaginal bleeding.
I have had one doctor tell me that I did have PCOS and another tell me that I don't...I honestly think that I do. What is funny though is the doctor who told me I don't is the one who gave me a never ending supply of the medroxyprogesterone. I have to take it every month. Are your periods just kind of irregular? At this point I actually don't get one at all unless I take the provera "medroxyprogesterone".
Weight gain, weird cravings for sweets, ugly bad moods and at times emotional and cramping from time to time. Does anyone know what can be the cause of this or why the pills haven't brought down my period. (Btw, its my First time taking them.
What does your doctor say? I just read that progesteron vag. inserts and oils do not stay in your system long (you pee them out) which is why RE recommends taking 3x a day along with the shots (that is what I had to do going thru IVF cycle).. Anyway, I would ask your doctor if you should stop taking this med if it is something he/she prescribed. If not, I would still call and ask the nurse. Never hurts to ask questions... Hope this helps some...
She told me that I should wait two more weeks and if I still haven't had it yet she will give me Provera. Does anybody know if there are any side effects to Provera and why she would hesistate to give it to me? Also how long does it take to get your period after you start taking it and how long do you have to take it?

We are still unclear as to why I am bleeding so much. I've been placed on medroxyprogesterone until surgery which is less than one week. Doctor does not feel I have cancer but we're still awaiting results of RA125. Are there any alternatives to having the surgery?
Do you know what name of her med is? Is it two different meds, or one combo? Most Drs will not put their patients on HRT if you keep your ovaries because they still produce hormones. But, all Drs are different.
Hi I would like to increase my breast size, but I am worried about taking to much estrogen. i currently take 4mg morning and night of estrofem. What time frame do I need to take estrogen in order to increase my breast size to around a B cup. I am not a trans sexual or a transvestite. However, I really would like to increase my breast size. I am 52 years old. Also, is there any other health problems that may arise because of my estrogen taking?
Should I break the pills in pieces and take a 1/4 of it with my birth control pills? I just don't know what to do but doing what my doctor told me does not sit well with me. Thank you in advance!

Hello and thank you for taking my question. I do apologize in advance if this is posted to the wrong area. For the most part I have always had normal menstrual cycles until this past July. I had two which lasted 10 days each and is not normal for me. I also had/have vaginal discharge and odor. In August I had a normal cycle and this month (Sept) I had another lengthy cycle. Since, approx. two weeks ago, I started having dark bloody spotting, bloating, cramps and a back ache.
I have a few questions 1) what could the uterine tissue samples show and what does it mean to have enlarged uterus and lining 2)Is it premature to discuss hysterectomy already? (I am 33, done having kids) 3) I would really prefer not to be on the pill, my husband had a vasectomy so that I wouldn't have to deal with side effects I have had in past from birth control. any suggestions from ppl that may have gone through this would be appreciated?
4 weeks ago I had a dermoid cyst removed along with my right ovary and fallopian tube, which were too damaged to save. The cyst was bigger than a grapefruit and was thought to be a functional cyst until they actually performed the surgery. Now I have another cyst on my left ovary that is approx. 2cm. I am told by my ob/gyn that this is a functional cyst and we are using the "wait and see" approach.
I was prescribed Premarin, at the highest dosage, all throughout my treatment and no one seemed concerned. What is the reason for not using ERT during chemo? Have you heard of this before?
My questions are this, what are the chances that this is cancerous? Most of what I've read say that drs. tend to leave the spots there if they feel really good that they are harmless. Could the hormoes be to blame?
Hi Everyone, The last post I placed on here, I was convinced I was pregnant based on the symptoms I was havng and the length since my last period well, as I stated before I do not normally have a period on a 28 to 31 day period. I kind of have them whenever they feel like coming or whenever I take medroxyprogesterone to make it come. But back in November my doctor did a wedge resection surgery on my ovaries to hopefully induce ovulation all on its own.
i had a cyst removed a few months after my baby was born, it was the size of a softball, it was sitting on top of my right ovary, i wonder if that had anything to do with my missed period, i went for an appointment a month ago and they said my pituatary gland or how ever u spell it was imbalanced, what does that mean? they also said my ovaries were sleeping? wut couldve caused all this, i am only 19 turning 20 this august?
And it only seems to be getting worse. What do you do when you want to put on a bathing suit? Or dress in something a little revealing? I feel like moving to Antarctica so I can cover myself up all the time...
After going off the birth control my period is back with a vengance sometimes changing every 25 mins with super tampons or sometimes an hour or so but no longer during the larger part of the day. I was put on another hormone medroxyprogesterone which is supposed to stop the bleeding. It seems that after I take it in the evening, it does seem to slow me down. The problem occurs after taking my Levothyroxine again in the morning. I get very heavy bleeding again.
I have to admit that I am very confused!! What does bioidentical mean? As you can tell, everything happened so fast that I was not able to do much research. The doctor was hoping to save the ovary, but that was not meant to be. I appreicate all of the info. I am not very smart when it comes to internet research, so I am so greatful for the info you have to share. It is women like you who help the rest of us get through these tough times.
Hi, I haven't had a period in about 8 weeks, I am 38 years old. NOT pregnant. I have a Hemorrhagic Cyst on my ovary. Dr. says THAT is not causing my period not to come...so I am undergoing a "TEST" he says....I am on Medroxyprogesterone for 10 days to see if it will jump start my period and dissolve the cyst. IF my period does not start, he says we could be looking at some other issues such a my pituitary gland. Or possible early menopause.
Also my DH is gunho about this time, but I since that he's a little skeptical and when I asked if he was sure or if he wanted to wait for a while longer he said NO he was ready now and I believe that, but I still can't shake the feeling that the poor thing is nervous, How do I help with that?
