I've had a purple rash on the crease of my leg next to groin for about 4 weeks now. Started using a cream to treat jock itch although it helps the horrible itching it hasn't taken it away. Just recently started having a slight burning or itching sensation at the tip of my penis but at some times I think paranoia is getting to me. I have had urine test for clamydia and ghonerria with negative results.
If it's a red patch, whatever caused it in the first place he now doubtless has a bacterial infection (maybe cause by the scratching). He should get to the doctor and at least get a series of antibiotics. The doc can do testing for various things (yeast infection, fungal infection, bacterial infection, STDs, etc.
The rash had a well-defined outline and a pink center. After doing some research, I figured I would try a jock itch cream. I used Lotrimin (clotrimazole) for about a weak - which seemed to work - but the tube ran out. The next day, the rash came back. Now, it's just red with no defined edges. It's not really itchy, and I probably wouldn't have even noticed it had it not been for the oral sex.
My rash actually looks more like Erythrasma than jock itch. Does itching come with Erythrasma? Is this a serious condition especially since I've had it for so long?
I read treating it can include erythromycin, fucidin cream or ointment, or with antibacterial soap. Well I think the soap I use is antibacterial although I don't always use soap sometimes I take bubble baths.
I will try changing my diet and excerising and scrub the rash with more soap and see if this helps.
Hi, I was just recently diagnosed with jock itch by a PA that I saw at a dermatology office. I noticed the tip of my penis is also somewhat red, can it spread to the tip? I did not mention this to the PA because I did not notice until I got home. Could it be an std? I have sex with one girl(my girlfriend) that I know does not have any diseases. It is red, is NOT itchy, and does not seem irritated until I think about it. What could this be?
t ever had a diagnosis of jock itch before that you go and be seen and get properly examined before treating this. Dry flakey skin can be jock itch ( which is what jess was refering to in her post to you ) but it can also be many other things so it's never a bad idea to err on the side of caution and go be seen and get checked out.
I have what I assume is a fungal infection on my inner thighs. It's a reddish-brown with clearly defined borders. I've had it before but kind of forgot about it, and recently noticed it again. The skin is slighty more scaly there than surrounding it. I just don't know that it's jock itch because there is no itching, burning or discomfort. The only symptom is the discoloration itself.
Yes, symptom wise, it does sound like jock itch (or Tinea cruris infection/sometimes also caused by candida). Though it is called jock itch, it may not itch always. Usually a reddish rash or area of darkened or tanned skin appears on penis/scrotum/groin fold/adjacent thighs. This is often accompanied by a burning or tingling sensation.
An itch the way you describe it is most likely something like jock itch, which is not a STD. I certainly would not go to the emergency room for it! You can get over the counter creams which will work. If you try that and they don't work, at that point I might get myself checked out. But I'd try that first, it's cheap and easy to do.
The only other possible risk would be HSV, which can be itchy. But since you have no sores, fever, etc, I doubt that's the case.
It started as a jock itch, i used anti-fungal cream for 2 months. After the first 2 weeks the jock itch marks went away, but the redness and itchiness stayed, after 2 months i gave up on anti-fungal and did some research. The scrotum skin is very absorvent compared to normal skin and anti-fungal creams can easily cause dermatitis there. So i used a weak hidrocortisone cream for about 1 month (after 2 days the itchiness was all gone!) and it was back to normal.
I've been having on and off itch problem in my scrutum. I tried most jock itch over the counter medication but they only provide temporary relief. I noticed that when I sweat in my groin area, the itch worsens. The itch is so discomforting. I tried scabies treatment also, but no effect. Natural Tea Tree oil don't seem to cure it. Please help.

Did so only for him to conclude (literally after a 10 second look) - that yes infact it was jock itch and prescribed me some alternate cream. This was about a week ago of applying night and day and avoiding scratching as much as possible.
Today I noticed that it was maybe spreading onto the shaft of my penis, not 100% sure but no other logical reason for the occurrence of the redness and itching. To be honest, starting to get worried. What should I do now?
I don't think I have herpes. I had what looked like jock itch but very bad jock itch. I feel like I irritated it by scratching and showering it with extremely hot water... Because that felt semi soothing due to the itching. But now I'm paranoid. My jock itch has sense gone away as I used OTC Limotrin for jock itch. I feel as though it was jock itch because it was in the in fold between my thigh and pelvis. Also, I had a rash that was circular on each side of my pelvis.
