I have (related to transflap surgery 2 years ago) a hernia, only recently diagnosed. I have had a large amount of fluid there for months and it is difficult breathing when I bend over or by the end of the day when the fluid accumulates, both hands spread over the area where fluid is accumulated will not cover the size of the area. It is very uncomftable and limits my activities of daily living and working. I am tired all the time. I have been telling doctors about it for several months...

It was actually a female doctor. She told me to make an appointment for a cardiologist, gastroenterologist, dermatologist and opthomologist. I think that the kind of hernia surgery you are looking at it is a relatively simple surgery, as far as surgery goes. I don't think the dog will have to be put under deep anaesthesia, the procedure is something that is done close to the surface, and it is a fairly quick operation. I would expect a healthy dog to recover well. Your boy might have some activity restrictions while he is recovering, to keep him from pulling the stitches loose and undoing the procedure.
Ugh man I don't know what to do because when it does hurt I can't even touch that part of my belly. So putting something over it will really kill me. I have a maternity belt but like I said I hardly can let shower water hit my stomach because of the pain. And wow only 32 weeks. Mine didn't start bothering me till 35 weeks. But we will get through it.
