Jmike1 thankyou for your advice, I am in the middle of getting tests done to evauluate a GI cause as my stomach is also causing the pain - it is ths frequency that this chest tightness and pain occour that i can not let the heart question drop. I have only had the regular strees test - but if all my test come back negative I will pursue this nucular strees test. If you dont mind me asking what sent you to the doc's in the first place.
Micheal, I got the butterfly feeling in my chest, it follow with few beats, big dumps and tightness. My tightness in the chest can last half a day long. I discovered it could be a LBBB. Just my discovery. As everyone has LBBB is being told it is harmful and the Drs "DON'T CARE". I learn to live with it. Have a run, power walk or strong coffee. You may have luck!
For the past three days I've had a tightness in the middle of my chest right under my breast bone/above my stomach. It doesn't hurt but it's uncomfortable and it comes and go throughout the day but I notice it more at night when I'm laying down. Has anyone experienced this feeling? The best way I can describe it is a feeling like someone is squeezing the inside of my chest. I have don't have any breathing problems.
as CJ said you have to trust the tests i know it is hard cause i find it difficult to trust too, but if we want to get rid of this anxiety thats the first step forward, i hate the chest tightness but the more you worry and think about it the worse it will get.
Has anyone ever experience your chest feels pressured/tightness/ or rather a brick on it? I've been goin thru this for the past month of Sept 2012 til now. I know its part of my anxiety symptoms etc, but any remedy on what to do? i try to relax and stay calm and as much as i want to refrain from taking my stress pills (alprozolam). I only take when i feel the onset is def strong. Any advice on what to do when this occurs? Thanks!
Iam 40 yrs old- in relatively good shape- 6' 3 about 230 lbs- do not smoke- very light alcohol-daily and exerise 3- 4 time a week- recently i have had daily episosodes- of a non predicatable chest tightness followed by weakness some shortness of breath these occurences happen almost typically late in aft or early eves..
I had an ultrasound that showed a nodule on my thyroid. what does this mean? My doctor has ordered further blood tests and is sending me to a nose, throat and ear specialist who he said would use a needle to take fluid from the nodule to see what is going on there.
I thank you so much for your answer it has helped a great deal. The symptoms I experience are greatly intensified under "load" what I mean by this is that if I do a barbell overhead lift with 50lb weight for ten reps no problems are felt. If I do 15, even though it is not difficult to do my left side chest tightens considerably and I have difficulty breathing, it almost feels that I could go either way, recover or collapse.
Hx of anxiety/palpitations,sinus tachy up to 130-140,recorded on event monitors and in office ekg. Last year while on trip chest felt tight, around whole chest. No chest pain associated with these episodes. Started to panic, hr up to 130s. Upon seeing Dr. had echo/stress, ekg, chest x-ray, blood etc, repeated. EF% normal, no ischemia, all sizes wnl. All good, no changes. Possible allery or anxiety related was the thought. No asthma. Sinuses are swollen/congested.
When you say tightness of your L chest that sort of leaves us open to interpetation. The heart sits dead center of your chest, between the nipple lines and very slightly to the left and would be in most cases the size of your left fist. Is that the area you are speaking of or further over and higher or lower? If you are concerned about having a heart attack as i always say there is nothing on this earth that looks like a male having a heart attack.
I'm kind of afraid to go to the doctor with it, it's been so long. I did have a chest X-ray and EKG for what turned out to be a pulled chest muscle about 3 years ago. Both were fine. The one thing that seems to snap me out of it last time was just trying to really believe it was "nothing to worry about", and really relax and breath through my stomach. Which I did initially when lying down watching T.V. The next day I felt better, but of course it came back.
Right now the neck is too tight, I have keep taking Advil which is not good to relieve this tightness. I feel like no doctor cares to help and that I'm the only person in the area with this problem. It all started around the time I was experiencing symptoms of mono before I was diagnosed. I see another endo in November. what else can I ask for to see if this problem can be solved (aside from having the thyroid removed). I'm at my wit's end! Thank you for any help!
5 mg of Amlodipine for HBP and angina. So far, I have not had the chest tightness or shortness of breath or left arm pain. 2D echo and treadmill stress test performed in Feb 2009 revealed normal heart muscle movement but I am out of shape. I was only able to jog at an incline for 7 minutes instead of 10. Took skiing lessons last month and was so very tired but no symptoms. My heart was racing though for 3 hours during the lessons. I had to take 5 minute breaks.
I can't even bend down, turn around, or take a deep breath without grabbing at my chest cause it hurts so much. what I'm wondering if maybe it's just a pulled muscle in my chest, a heart problem or just my lungs. It feels like there's a knife in my chest. The strange thing is it comes and gos. Tommorow I am going to see my doctor if I can afford it and hopefully I'll remember to tell him about this.
Kinda curious if this could be an indication of another problem even though it is better???? what exactly does non differentiated mean? and the term non glassy? There is mild hilar and mediastinal adenopathy. I have also been diagnosed with anemia that is not responding to treatment. However, I do have a fibroid tumor in my uterus that is said to benign. Surgery has been recommended but put off due to the CT irregularities. Any and all help would be appreciated.
of course chest tightness should be mentioned to a doctor. Must remember to take my own advice sometimes. Good luck.
Does your tightness in your chest come on all of a sudden at rest and if you do activity? My ribs and sternum do not really hurt though I do get a cramping, dull ache type of pain below my ribs and sternum. I notice if I sit down at the computer, chest tightening comes on and if I put my feet up on the coffee table, I get chest tightening and need to change position. Even get chest tightening just lying in bed or on the sofa. Activity makes the chest tightening worse.
you may have exercise-induced asthma; only thing i can think of. my boyfriend has it. the pain could be just generally from working your muscles, however i do feel the jaw pain could be a little odd. try to see a doctor. best of luck.
i have chest tightness, bit of reaching difficulty, occasional skipped heartbeat. pulse rate and pulse strength seem fine. i thought it was my usual anxiety and tension, but lately i haven't had too much to worry about that i know of, and the chest tightness is still there. no pains or headaches to speak of. just feeling weak and crappy, even though i have fatigue syndrome. it seems separate from that.
I suffer from chf-cardiomyopathy recently I had some tests done including an xray that they compared to one from a year ago ( the reason was for chest pain and tightness)compared to the older xray which read normal the recent xray said borderline normal and my doctor said there was no significant change. When they say significant change it seems in my mind there was some change but not a "red flag".
I'm 22, and I've recently been getting shortness of breath, tightness in my chest..and my throat does some weird wiggle thing at the top. I'm getting a chest xray and a pulmonary function test within the next two weeks, I was wondering if this sounds like asthma, I don't smoke, but I understand that that doesn't matter...I understand what she is going through...it can be a little scary, not knowing what you have...and scary for you. I hope she is fine.
hi eveybody. could you plz tell me. what does Hyperkinetic heart mean???and the best management? i have a forcible heart beats. thats palpable by my hands. normal ECG but sort of sinus tachycardia. . Normal ECHO. no anemia . ESR within normal range.. normal thyroid function test..
It could be changes in red blood cells, mechanical chest wall tightness( which can be neurological), or a srtained shoulder which sounds like it could be the case.Try laying with a pillow under your mid-back while on your back, arms back, and take deep breathes to stretch out the inercostal muscles. this should do it.
Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! Just because the pain is on left side of chest does not mean it is a heart attack. You have had ample of tests to rule this out. Yes, as the doctors are saying, it could be gastric reflux. You do not have to be anxious for this to start. Also more often than not it causes a stabbing pain. The symptoms could indeed be exacerbation of the GERD. It could also be hiatal hernia. Treatment is a combination of drugs to reduce the acid and lifestyle changes.
