amaryl

Avatar f tn I am young and rather active, but have a bad family history with diabetes and inflammatory bowel diseases. Sometimes I feel like no matter what I do my genetics always win. Just wondering if I am alone here or if others have the same problems.
Avatar m tn Please do not put off calling your doc today. I looked up Amaryl (glimepiride) and it is used by type 2 diabetics to lower glucose levels. There's a discussion going on in this forum about type 2, after long periods of time (how long is unk), reversing into type 1 diabetics. In your case it seems you are combating low glucose levels and may have a flipped 180º. Let us know what your docs says. You will help a lot of readers by posting your history if you did turn into a type 1.
Avatar f tn The reason she has to have insulin injection is that all other drugs upset her stomuch ( except diamicron MR ) .Doctor has prescribed her with Amaryl ,Glucophage ,Glucobay ,but they upset her stomuch .Although she take it after meal but she still have stomuch pain .So I want to ask what diabet drugs that don’t upset stomuch (because she hate to take insulin injection ).
Avatar m tn I also have congestive heart failure and diabetes. Just wanting to know what I can do to improve the kidney function or at least slow the progression of the disease. I take an imodium easy chew tablet and it works and I do not have diarrea or burning for 2 or3 days and then it wares off and starts all over agin. I never have a stomach ache when I have the diarrea but I still have a strong urge to strain alot sometimes, almost like being in labor! Sometimes I also have anal bleeding, sometimes alot.
783159 tn?1236291818 I took metformin for 6 months and it made me sick. My stomach reacted to it and I had pains in my muscles all the time. I am now on amaryl and get no side effects from it. But a lot of people are on metformin. Since it makes your stomach loose, you lose weight from it. And it controls the sugar level. Why don't they list it?
Avatar m tn Prior to surgery, she was taking Amaryl 1mg tablets once a day. Is this increased BSR levels following a surgery common enough, are there any implications and what should be the desired course of action?
Avatar m tn The sugar level remains around 125 fasting and random. I also do take 90 ml of Whiskey/Vodka around 4 times a week. My question is that is it ok if I continue to take this much of liquor or shall I reduce it.
Avatar n tn If in fact you are a type 1 diabetic, you should not be taking Amaryl. I would say to find yourself a new doctor if he/she thinks that Amaryl is appropriate for juvenile diabetes. But, perhaps there is something I don't know. Otherwise, just cautiously play with your carbohydrate intake and your insulin dosages. Yes, I agree that a doctor should be consulted about this at first, but eventually you should be running the show.
Avatar n tn I have been controlling my type 2 diabetes with actos, lipitor, lisinopril, amaryl, and metfirman for the last 2 years. Recently, i was laying down and when I got up I felt my neck grinding. A few days later I noticed my tonuge was numb and tingling. then I noticed my right eye and right side of my face and head was numb. I have been having reduced mucle movement on that side. I do not have insurance and am unable to see a doctor. I get my diabetic medical treatment at a clinic.

Avatar m tn I am a diabetic 2 since last 30 years.I take 8mg of Amaryl in the morning and 2 to 4mg in the evening (prescribed by an Internist 14 years ago). I also take Metformine 1000mg once in the morning and once in the evening. My last HbA1c (in February,2009) was 126 ( 7.00 mol/lit.) I was asked to see a diabetic nurse (as a normal routine) and she has aproblem with the dose of drugs that I take and advises me to shift to insulin. The doctors did not have any problem with my medication though.

Avatar n tn Hi, Good work taking your meds and starting to get on a exercise program. It is already showing n your numbers and it will improve further. You have lots of room to go up on your metformin before heading to insulin, so discuss this with your doctor. The usual dose of metformin, assuming your kidney and heart function are fine, is 1000 mg twice daily. It may also help with your weight loss. Continue with the dietary changes to lose some weight.
Avatar n tn Typically people with diabetes while pregnant are treated with diet, and if diet alone cannot control blood sugars then they are given insulin. This is because these drugs can cross the placenta and affect the baby. However, insulin does not cross the placenta. Controlling blood sugar to normal levels during pregnancy is important to having a healthy pregnancy. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn After being off the actos (I still take amaryl and lisinopril) for 3 months I still feel occasional bloating and pain on left side but now I feel like something stuck in my throat. I don't have any trouble swallowing saliva or food/drinks. I have been to a gastro doctor who scoped me and only found in my colon a few internal hemorroids and nothing in my throat or stomach but mild inflammation in upper duodenum. He prescribed nexium.
