Common Questions and Answers about What does altace treat

altace

Avatar m tn Never had a heart attack. The Cardio put me on Metoprolol ( 50mg); Altace 2.5 mg and baby aspirin in addition to Lipitor 20mg. Sep. 2009 he took me off the Metoprolol and increased the Altace to 10 mg. My Blood potassium level at the time was perfectly normal at 3.6; after the spike in the ace-inhibitor my potassium level has risen in two months to 5.6, which I believe is an unsafe level. My family doctor has now asked me to go back to the 2.5 mg dosage and get re-tested after two weeks.
Avatar f tn Why is my systolic blood pressure still high when I am taking Altace. My diastolic blood pressure is normal when I take Altace. Why the difference. Could I have angina since I have had pain in my chest around the heart area and in the middle of the chest. Also, could I have arterialschlorsis from the high systolic blood pressure? This discussion is related to high systolic normal diastolic blood pressure?.
Avatar m tn After a sleepless night, the nurse told me (by phone) that this was Atrial Tachycardia, that the slow pulse was not a total indication of what was going on with my heart.and to increase my dose of beta blocker from 12 to 25 mg. This made me extremely lightheaded so I went back to my prior dose. While I understand that this is probably a temporary side effect of the ablation and medication is this the case. I am taking Altace, Atenolol and Coumadin. Could this be Bradycardia?
Avatar n tn How much Tylenol were you taking? Were you abusing it?

I have lost some weight and continue to diet as well as exercise. My doctor has tried two calcium channel blockers with the results that I become very ill and unable to continue these medications. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I am on High blood pressure medicine (Altace, which some sites do list tingling and leg weakness as side effects, though my GP does not think so). My Neuro did all the blood work and that is normal (Lyme, ANA, CBC, B12, ESR, CAT Scan) He is somehow asking for a month wait to order any MRI or other test. Does this fall within the McDonald criteria for diagnosis and that is why he is waiting??? Should I be concerned with this and pursue other Neuro?
Avatar n tn From what I understand, plaque can begin to accumulate from childhood. As a child, I was spoiled through treats and dining out. Being from the south our diners were cooked by the motto that gravy and bacon made everything taste better. What can be done to reverse plague that has build up for 30 something years? Other than exercise and diet, is there any kind of treatment, medication, "super-food" (the fad of the day it seems) that will do the trick?
Avatar f tn 5 mg and Altace 10 mg.) 5 hours before having an Endoscopy? Would the pressure go to low with the anesthesia or go to high without the hypertension medications?
15695260 tn?1549593113 Common medications in this class of drugs are commonly used medications such as captopril (Capoten), fosinopril (Monopril), lisinopril (Prinivil or Zestril), perindopril (Aceon), ramipril (Altace) and trandolapril (Mavik). It should be noted that this research was not done as a clinical trial but rather an 'observational study' where older adults with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia were being studied. About a quarter were on ACE inhibitors and they observed this benefit.
Avatar m tn It has been working for me without questions. I am on Cholesterol meds and hypertension meds(Metoprolol, Altace and Norvasc) which I have been taking for the last two years. Recently I used some viagra two hours before an encounter with my date. I started drinking after the taking the Viagra. The viagra did not work....I took another one and waited awhile and it still didn't work...I took one more and waited a while with no results....
907729 tn?1244174363 You make a great point that losing weight is good for your health, from diabetes to heart disease to everything in between. It would be helpful to know what kind of heart surgery is being recommended, because sometimes there are procedures that are less invasive that could be considered, and could result in some improvement in how you feel. Weight loss surgery can be a great option for some people, but keep in mind that it often does come down to surgical risk.
Avatar n tn What is a normal increase in ejection fraction with proper medical care? I had an ejection fraction that over the years has decreased to 20% and in the last six months it quickly returned to 60% indicated by measurements from both an echo and MUGA testing. The symptoms of CHF have not changed, so the blood flow per beat has not increased. Why has the EF increased so greatly and what would it indicate?
988694 tn?1332359479 If my problem (sex hormonal imbalance) does not resolve after been in my new dose for at least 5 or 6 months, does it mean that I am not in the right dose?
Avatar n tn I always had an active sex life, and now have a very good sex life again. What is going on, my penis has started this turtle type of thing where it retracts constantly into it self which is very uncomfortable. I take Lipitor, Nexium, and Altace for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heartburn. I had femoral artery blockages 13 years ago and was a smoker. Guys, I'm not making this up, somebody please advise if you ever heard of such a thing, this is very alarming.
Avatar f tn I was on Altace and had problems. Then they put me on the Lopressor (metoprolol) along with the Altace. The altace lower my blood pressure too much, so I stick with the beta blocker and leave out the ace inhibitor. That works for me. But man oh man, I cannot run out of the beta blocker without servious side effects. Maybe in this case using both would help more.
Avatar f tn He said the cough was a known Altace side effect and that I would have weigh the benefits of continuing to take Altace against the annoyance of the cough. I continued on Altace and but after a few months I coughed up blood for the first time. Prior to this, my cough had been dry. In June 2008. I found a new MD and explained my cough and family history (2 parents with lung cancer). She immediately took me off Altace and ordered a chest X-Ray.
Avatar m tn Had multiple stents (4) placed four (4) years ago, two in LAD with no side effects and good nuclear and stress test results over this period. Am currently taking Plavix/Aspirin/Coreg/Altace. Need arthroscopic repair on knee but concerned over cessating of Plavix. One cardiologist recommended ending Plavix entirely, second (same practice) would rather wait for a large study about to be completed. Suggestions?
Avatar f tn I know the risk of stroke is higher. How much higher - and what can be done to reduce the risk? My husband does not smoke, is not overweight and his blood pressure and cholesterol are both well under control. I am frustrated because no one provides us with a solid answer. All I'm sure of at this point is that he's had a procedure that was probably completely unnecessary and he may now be at greater risk for a stroke. Does he need to be on Plavix the rest of his life?
Avatar f tn Your doctor needs to run more testing - like free T3 and free T4 to determine what the thyroid is really doing. I hope your doctor puts on your medications to treat the hypothyroidism.
