Common Questions and Answers about What does altace do

altace

Avatar m tn Never had a heart attack. The Cardio put me on Metoprolol ( 50mg); Altace 2.5 mg and baby aspirin in addition to Lipitor 20mg. Sep. 2009 he took me off the Metoprolol and increased the Altace to 10 mg. My Blood potassium level at the time was perfectly normal at 3.6; after the spike in the ace-inhibitor my potassium level has risen in two months to 5.6, which I believe is an unsafe level. My family doctor has now asked me to go back to the 2.5 mg dosage and get re-tested after two weeks.
Avatar f tn Why is my systolic blood pressure still high when I am taking Altace. My diastolic blood pressure is normal when I take Altace. Why the difference. Could I have angina since I have had pain in my chest around the heart area and in the middle of the chest. Also, could I have arterialschlorsis from the high systolic blood pressure? This discussion is related to high systolic normal diastolic blood pressure?.
Avatar f tn I take Toprol XL 200 mgs. and Altace 20mgs. and have for many years however recently I have experienced an increase in blood pressure. I have lost some weight and continue to diet as well as exercise. My doctor has tried two calcium channel blockers with the results that I become very ill and unable to continue these medications. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I am on High blood pressure medicine (Altace, which some sites do list tingling and leg weakness as side effects, though my GP does not think so). My Neuro did all the blood work and that is normal (Lyme, ANA, CBC, B12, ESR, CAT Scan) He is somehow asking for a month wait to order any MRI or other test. Does this fall within the McDonald criteria for diagnosis and that is why he is waiting??? Should I be concerned with this and pursue other Neuro?
Avatar m tn After a sleepless night, the nurse told me (by phone) that this was Atrial Tachycardia, that the slow pulse was not a total indication of what was going on with my heart.and to increase my dose of beta blocker from 12 to 25 mg. This made me extremely lightheaded so I went back to my prior dose. While I understand that this is probably a temporary side effect of the ablation and medication is this the case. I am taking Altace, Atenolol and Coumadin. Could this be Bradycardia?
Avatar n tn How much Tylenol were you taking? Were you abusing it?
Avatar n tn From what I understand, plaque can begin to accumulate from childhood. As a child, I was spoiled through treats and dining out. Being from the south our diners were cooked by the motto that gravy and bacon made everything taste better. What can be done to reverse plague that has build up for 30 something years? Other than exercise and diet, is there any kind of treatment, medication, "super-food" (the fad of the day it seems) that will do the trick?
Avatar f tn 5 mg and Altace 10 mg.) 5 hours before having an Endoscopy? Would the pressure go to low with the anesthesia or go to high without the hypertension medications?
907729 tn?1244174363 i had 6 stents put in and just had another angioplasty, but they did not find any blockages. I do have scarring in the front and back of my left ventricale and have what the doctor said Isechmic Cardiomyopathy. I want to have the gastric bypass to help loose weight because the doctor told me evetually I will need further heart sugery and possibly will need a heart transplant. My EF is 25% and tends to stay around that right now.
Avatar n tn I have been divorced 3 years and went about a year without sex nor did I or do I masturbate any longer. I always had an active sex life, and now have a very good sex life again. What is going on, my penis has started this turtle type of thing where it retracts constantly into it self which is very uncomfortable. I take Lipitor, Nexium, and Altace for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heartburn. I had femoral artery blockages 13 years ago and was a smoker.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Common medications in this class of drugs are commonly used medications such as captopril (Capoten), fosinopril (Monopril), lisinopril (Prinivil or Zestril), perindopril (Aceon), ramipril (Altace) and trandolapril (Mavik). It should be noted that this research was not done as a clinical trial but rather an 'observational study' where older adults with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia were being studied. About a quarter were on ACE inhibitors and they observed this benefit.
Avatar m tn It has been working for me without questions. I am on Cholesterol meds and hypertension meds(Metoprolol, Altace and Norvasc) which I have been taking for the last two years. Recently I used some viagra two hours before an encounter with my date. I started drinking after the taking the Viagra. The viagra did not work....I took another one and waited awhile and it still didn't work...I took one more and waited a while with no results....
Avatar f tn I was on Altace and had problems. Then they put me on the Lopressor (metoprolol) along with the Altace. The altace lower my blood pressure too much, so I stick with the beta blocker and leave out the ace inhibitor. That works for me. But man oh man, I cannot run out of the beta blocker without servious side effects. Maybe in this case using both would help more.
Avatar n tn What is a normal increase in ejection fraction with proper medical care? I had an ejection fraction that over the years has decreased to 20% and in the last six months it quickly returned to 60% indicated by measurements from both an echo and MUGA testing. The symptoms of CHF have not changed, so the blood flow per beat has not increased. Why has the EF increased so greatly and what would it indicate?
Avatar n tn Your symtoms are not very specific for MS and certainly it is appropriate to look elsewhere first. Did the neurologist do a very extensive neuro exam (many dozens of tests)? If your exam is normal, it seem appropriate to see if the weakness will disappear like the tingling. The BP meds can have a lot of different side effects - one of which can be muscular weakness. What meds are you on? The headache with very high blood pressure is a common thing. High BP is not related to MS.
Avatar m tn Had multiple stents (4) placed four (4) years ago, two in LAD with no side effects and good nuclear and stress test results over this period. Am currently taking Plavix/Aspirin/Coreg/Altace. Need arthroscopic repair on knee but concerned over cessating of Plavix. One cardiologist recommended ending Plavix entirely, second (same practice) would rather wait for a large study about to be completed. Suggestions?
Avatar f tn You may also consider taking your test results to another doctor for a 2nd opinion. You know your body better than any one else. What do you think is the right thing to do? I know I didn't give you any answers, but hopefully I gave you some good food for thought. Best of luck to you!
Avatar f tn of Cardizem LA once a day and was curious if anyone else here was taking this medication? If so, what side effects do or did you have? So far (only the first day) I haven't had any. Also, did the medication work for you as far as lowering your blood pressure?
Avatar f tn The fact that you only urinate about twice a day makes me wonder if you have problems emptying your baldder. From what you state it does sound like you are diabetic. My wife has some of these symptoms. I myself used to come down with UTI and kidney infections about every 3 to 4 months requiring hospitalization and IV antibiotics. I experienced the pain in the lower back and an urgency to urinate but not being able to.
Avatar f tn What do you do if you have loved someone for 3 years and you put up with their weed habits but you never wanted a guy who smokes but you still gave it a try but you know that that is not what you want but you love them?
