What does a yellow discharge mean

Common Questions and Answers about What does a yellow discharge mean

discharge

it feels like I peed my pants, I have to wear a tampon so it will stop. it started out white and now its a yellow color. it smells really bad like fish. I also have started experiencing horrible cramps and I normally don't even get cramps when I'm on my period. My roommates keep saying its a yeast infection but I think it must be something worse because it does not itch at all.
I've been having yellow discharge that has a foul odor. I always have to wear a pad or a pantie liner because the yellow discharge stains my underwear. The odor is not noticeable, unless I smell my underwear or my pad up close. The texture is not very thick and it is smooth. The texture is not clumpy or lumpy and does not have the "cottage cheese" like texture. There are no itching or burning sensations. Also, it is not swollen or red in my vagina area.
My period is about to start for this month, so i was wearing a small pad just in case. I noticed though that my discharge had changed a little. its a yellow/green color and its sticky like mucus or snot, and it doesn't normally smell, it just smells like my discharge normally does. The only time it ever smells is if i've been wearing the pad all day or for a long time. When it does smell the only think i can think of is sweaty gym socks if you know what i mean.
I am particularly worried because some websites seem to indicate chlamydia or gonorrhea etc if there is a yellow coloration in vaginal discharge. I am kind of confused as to what to do in the meantime...I mean I always practise safe sex, I use condoms all the time.. so I am not worried that I caught anything, but it does affect whether I want to have sex with her or not again. I dont know what the next step is.

is he neutered? A yellowish pencil discharge on a male dog, called smegma, is normal. However, if it seems heavy and he is not himself, he could have an infection in the sheath, bladder, etc. wash and rinse that area off well and watch it to see if the discharge comes back, how fast and how heavy. Probably best to get a Vet check. He may need to be flushed and/or given an antibiotic.
I have a slight increase in discharge as well and it is white mostly and sometime even a pale yellow. I have had this only in one other pregnancy and it was the only one that went full term. With my two m/c I seemed to have a lot of watery d/c a lot of the time but everyone is different and I wouldn't neccessarily correlate that with any true meaning either (don't want to worry anyone out there)!

what is a lotiony, white discharge, and why might you get it? My doctor said it's a sign of pregnancy but I highly doubt that's the case here. Can a UTI cause it? I might have one right now, so I'm not sure if that might be the case. it also has a..weird kind of odour. Smells a little like rubber. Maybe an infection? I know it can happen at random times in your cycle, but I've not had one in almost 2 years and have no idea when to even expect one.

Yes, discharge is normal at your age. However, if it has odor you may have an infection which may require medical treatment. does your discharge come out yellow or is it clear/milky? it shouldnt be colored but sometimes discharge can "dry" a pale yellow color (it may get mixed with a trace amount of urine for example). If your discharge actually exits your body w/ a yellow color that is another sign you may have an infection.
