Avatar n tn I have an area of my gums, upper left side, right beside a crown, where it swelled up. It's been swelled up for about two weeks now. There's no pain in or around the crown or the swollen gums, little discomfort, just a little swollen area about the size of a small pea, that's covering about half of the tooth with the crown. As far as I know it wasn't brought on by eating hot food.
Avatar f tn They would try to break through my gums, leaving me with swollen, aching gums. I would chew gum all the time just to give myself something to do - plus, for some reason, it would take the 'edge' off the pain. I went through that for several months until I had them all out at once. I was 17 and quite relieved. As long as that tooth stays where it is, there is the chance that it will apply pressure to the teeth nearby and cause shifting.

Avatar f tn I'm not sure if the meds have anything to do with your swollen gums. I do know a deep cleaning can cause them. Swish around some warm salt water to get the swelling down. If it does'nt get better in a couple of days, get in to see your dentist again.
Avatar f tn I am 15 weeks tomorrow and I have been waking up with swollen gums. My sister had it too when she was pregnant but not until after 20 weeks. I rinse my mouth out with salt water and brush them softly every day but they are just always swollen every morning!
397982 tn?1210924921 Yes, bleeding swollen, sensitive gums can be an early sign of pregnancy. My gums hurt a lot when I was pregnant and bled everytime I brushed my teeth, I asked my Dr. because I didn't know if it would affect my mitral valve and she said it was common in pregnancy.

Avatar m tn After the check up the female dentist told me that there was nothing wrong with my teeth and the lump was just the bone that was left after the extraction and the gums were swollen because of food touching the empty space of gums where i had the extraction. But she told me to come back the next day to make a crown for another tooth which was damaged. I came in the next day, and this time i had a male doctor.
Avatar n tn For over a year I have been experiencing sore and sometimes inflamed and swollen gums. I have seen both my dentist and hygienist and we have been unable to solve the problem or what is causing it. The pain is now there more often than not now, whereas before it was intermittent. I have not managed to pin point what may cause the symptoms.
Avatar f tn A decayed tooth can cause infection in the gums...if your gums are swollen, red and/or bleeding then you have Gingivitis. This is caused my not brushing your teeth thoroughly and flossing. Food gets trapped between the gums and teeth causing the gums to pull away from the tooth and it turns to plaque which can only be removed by your dentist. If left untreated it can also lead to tooth loss due to bone loss. I hope this helps and wish you all the best.
