Avatar n tn D The best way to go is absolutely NO table scraps since human food prepared FOR humans (ie with spices and other things added to it) is the major cause of pancreatitis in dogs. Please understand there is a difference between human-grade food that is prepared specifically FOR dogs and table scraps. Spices, rich sauces, butter, basically everything that we use that makes our own food yummy to us makes it unsafe for our dogs to eat.
Avatar m tn ploryi blood test/liver/pancrease panel and possibly a endoscope to find out what is going on in your stomach. A gi specialist would probably be best. If this is truly pancreatitis you would need to stop drinking to let the pancrease heal before permament damage is done...(normally) BUT i'm not a doctor.. a visit with a gi specialist would be the way to go..
936335 tn?1246412231 I have pain in about ten minutes after I eat that causes severe pain. I keep a food journal to try to avoid different foods that causes the trigger. But the pain is so severe that is debilates me for the remainder of the day and causes severe back pain on the left side of my back near my spine. If I take whatever stomach medicine I am trying at the time, my enzymes to break the food down, and pain medicine then I can usually function pretty well without going into that severe pain.
Avatar m tn The purpose of patents is to protect ideas that investigators hope to investigate. There is no credible evidence that I am aware of that FIV causes disease in humans. Please do not worry and do not worry about your cat, the possiblity of it infecting you or you infecting your girlfriend.

129422 tn?1222699589 s office and three blood profiles (one comprehensive one), other than initial dx of pancreatitis, vet is stumped as to what might be wrong. Initially (first week of August), our Maltese did vomit and wouldn't eat (and he always eats voraciously). Taken to vet around first week in August. Xrays showed nothing. Blood workup showed mild pancreatis and stool sample did show some minor blood in it. He was started on mild Rx diet and sent home. We were told to give him 5 mg.
Avatar n tn I had to put my 11 year old Llhasa apso to sleep yesterday because he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was in so much pain that they could not guarantee that he would survive even with treatment. It came on suddenly...he was fine Saturday but began throwing up in the middle of the night and continued...he couldn't even hold down water and was very weak. I took him into the veterinary hospital on Sunday and he was too weak to come home.
Avatar f tn In pancreatitis both lipase and amylase are usually elevated. Other tests (CT, MRI) are needed to confirm pancreatitis. But elevated lipase doesn't mean you have pancreatitis. Or, lipase level doesn't necessary correlate with severity of inflammation. ERCP was probably suggested because a small stone, either from gallbladder or pancreas can block pancrteatic duct - what results in pancreatitis. There's another, noninvasive investigation - MRCP, which could be done instead of ERCP.
Avatar f tn My 9 month old puppy was diagnosed with pancreatitis today, they kept him at the vet all day giving him IV fluids. They let us take him home tonight so he was only admitted for about 12 hours.
Avatar f tn In the absence of these findings its unlikely that you have chronic pancreatitis. The other causes for the pain could be infections of the bowel and bladder, prolapsed intervertebral disc or inflammatory diseases of the colon. So, if your symptoms persist discuss these options with your doctor. Regards.
Avatar f tn I recently had an ultrasound that said I had a borderline enlarged pancreatic duct (4.2 mm). I do not have pancreatitis. I am wondering about causes, if there are any besides cancer or pancreatitis. That is all I have found on this subject. Am scared.

Avatar n tn Did the vet perform a CPLI test to see if your dog had pancreatitis? The causes of vomiting and diarrhea can be many things, such ingestion of a foreign body, ingestion of something toxic, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, parasites, organic causes and more.
Avatar f tn You more than likely have chronic pancreatitis. Every attack causes damage to your pancreas. Even though you quit drinking the damage has been done. You need to read up on chronic pancreatitis and get more of an understanding.
Avatar n tn also done mrcp, which stated no dilatation in my pancreatic duct and no stones in my bile duct but the doctor said it already went down. whats ur opinion guys i feel very tired to find a correct analysis.
4454327 tn?1405203128 Pancreatitis should always be ruled out in such cases. Pancreatitis is one of the causes of cholecystitis. You should consult your gastroenterologist and get pancreatitis evaluated and investigated in detail. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
1674610 tn?1317002220 I was wondering what causes pancreastitis and can that turn into cancer? my Mother died of pancreas cancer, but she never complaind of pains like mine, does this mean that i am a candidate for getting waht she had because my pancrease is swelling! last check was up 480 was hospitalized and starved! whats really going on here?
Avatar m tn m really sorry to hear your dog has pancreas trouble. There can be various underlying causes for pancreatitis and since your dog seemed to respond to antibiotics, it's possible his pancreas is infected. That may be due to a structural problem either within the pancreas itself or further down in the pancreatic duct. If imaging studies have not been done, it's time to take a look to see if there is a tumor or psuedo-cyst (pocket of infection) present.
Avatar n tn I came down with acute pancreatitis March 28, 2010. I spent 27 days in the hospital. Nobody has been able to tell me why I got so sick. I was a heavy nicorette chewer for years. I quit the day I went to the hospital. I do not know if there is an association with the nicorette and pancreatitis. Wondering.
Avatar f tn An acute pancreatitis in my experience does not normally cause ascites. FIP is a possibility but I would be more interested in looking at causes of a low serum protein. Low protein causes a buildup of fluid in the abdomen and is often associated with a condition called exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. Protein could be lost via the intestine (protein losing enteropathy) or in the urine (protein losing nephropathy).
