How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger? Are these stones causing damage to my kidneys? They don’t seem to be causing any blockages based on the ultrasounds that have been done, but I still have had frequent flank pain and blood visible in my urine prior to the surgery. Is there any hope that I will be able to be stone free and prevent more stones?
Intermittent sharp pain between left kidney and moving round to the front. Ben tested for infection(none) and kidney stones(negative) no blockages in renal system. Doc says some kind of muscular problem and has given me anti-inflamatory pills. Seems to have very little effect. Often when I urinate the pain goes. Its disturbing to say the least. If anyone has any thoughts - grateful to hear from them.
they took several viles of blood and a urin test as well as a ct scan, and everything seemed fine , except that the dr said i have calcified kidneys an not jus one but both are calcified she also said that they are not kidney stones so i am completly at a loss of what this means an what i should do aside from making my follow up appointmemts... i dont understand any of this.. and im at a loss of what to say to my family???
Last year EWSL was attempted 3X to remove small, stubborn stones in my right kidney. Stones were not blocking the ureter but were causing pain for months. After 3rd attempt at EWSL it was decided to try laser treatment cystoscopically. This was "partially" successful. Some of the stones were removed, some he was not able to reach. I was left with a stint which came out before I made it home from the hospital.

I have had soft stool, sometimes watery for about a month now. I am also having pain on my right side. It started under my rib in the front and is now on the actual side and sometimes radiating up the back. My doctor sent me in to have an ultrasound of my abdomen. 4 years ago I had one and they found polyps in my gallbladder. In this ultrasound, they were still there. However, he also ordered an abdominal x-ray and found calcifications.
Weak, lightheaded, shortness of breath and constipated again. An EKG was normal, chest x-ray normal, an ultrasound did not reveal any kidney stones or gall stones, but liver enzymes were elevated. Two subsequent blood tests showed liver enzymes continued to elevate. My PCP wanted me to go back to the gastroenterologist, but first I went on a strict diet for 3 weeks as part of a fast, eating no meat, animal by-products, sugar or grains. Two days after the fast ended, I ate some chicken and rice.

I was born with a condition that causes my body to create kidney stones. I have been to the emergency room 4 or 5 times in the past 18 years for the large stones, small ones pass ok. My first stone caused bleeding and severe back pain also with pain in the lower abdomen area along with hot/cold flashes and vomiting. It may feel like someone is squeezing your kidney while at the same time stabbing it with an ice pick. I first though it was my appendix. I was wrong.

I'm only 19 too and I just found out I have medullary sponge kidney. (I don't have UTI's, but it is an effect from MSK) You may want to see a urologist... that's how I found out I had it. The pain sounds similar to mine and anyone who has kidney stones.. have you had a cat scan to see if you have them? I know your pain though..because I feel like that all the time and it's a bummer because this is when we're supposed to be "young and healthy".
A few days ago, I started having a nagging right side pain and by the next day it was so intense I ended up in the ER. They did bloodwork, uralyisis, ultrasound of my gallbladder and ct scan to check for kidney stones. Everything came back normal and now I'm very frustrated. They sent me home with painkillers and told me it could possibly be my gallbladder, to follow up and get a HIDA scan. Now a couple days later, my side doesn't hurt as bad but is sore.
I have primary hyperoxaluria type one my liver does not produce and enzyme that take the oxalates out of my body, causing many stones and kidney failure, if your having cronic stones get checked for it, a nephrologist is who u need to see, urologist only treat the the stones effects on you. Not what causes them, I will one day soon need a liver and kidney transplant they will not do only a kidney because it will be destroyed by my liver.
It took a while but the pain I was having was finally diagnosed as a kidney stone and I have another symptomatic one in the other kidney. But I wonder if kidney stones cause anemia because I suddenly became anemic just over a year ago and we have not been able to find a cause. Although I had occult blood in my urine due to the stone, it was not a lot.
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this too or if anyone might know if stones can cause anemia?
