Avatar n tn My question is can a boy that young already develop kindey stones and what causes them? Is there anything that can be changed in his diet to help prevent them?
Avatar n tn If you have stones and will have the rest of your life, I would encourage you to check out our forum for MSK patients. We have a defect in our kidneys that causes stones. It is called Medullary Sponge Kidney disease. Many of us live with a life time of stones so the site maybe a help to you http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger? Are these stones causing damage to my kidneys? They don’t seem to be causing any blockages based on the ultrasounds that have been done, but I still have had frequent flank pain and blood visible in my urine prior to the surgery. Is there any hope that I will be able to be stone free and prevent more stones?
Avatar f tn i have something called MSK or medualary sponge kidney, it mean that i have tiny cysts that create "pockets" which hold fluid in them that causes me to get stones and infections all the time the only way to find this disease is to have a CTscan or an IVP they found mine when they were checking to see if i had a kidney stone stuck this disease causes me to have pain almost all the time and i have infections that dont show up on regular urine tests good luck and i hope you feel better so
Avatar n tn They did a liver test, kidney for stones and pancreas which all came back normal. Finally they did an ultra sound which showed my bile duct was enlarged. What would cause that?
Avatar m tn s anything viral or bacterial (the urine test showed no signs of infection) and his preliminary diagnosis was kidney stones..but he also brought up the (remote possibility) of kidney cancer, due to the presence of hematuria and my right-side flank pain. He referred me to a urologist and I will likely see him next week. So, of course, with all this time to poke around the internet, I've convinced myself that the latter is the more likely diagnosis.
Avatar m tn I have had rounded grains of reddish-orange sand in my urine for over a year. It's painless and they are there in ones and threes, or dozens, hundreds at a time, about once every sixth or eighth time I urinate. The Urologist tells me they are not kidney stones, but at bladder stones, and common, but I can't find a single word about them on the internet (regarding humans). They seem to be mentioned in cats and perhaps goats, and remedied by changes in diet.
1012861 tn?1250949418 Causes include lesions of the urinary tract, contamination during menstruation, disease of the prostate, trauma, tumors, malaria or stones in the urinary tract. In your case as kidney stones are present, so these definitely need evaluation as nephrolithiasis or kidney stones are known to cause hematuria. My sincere advice would be to consult a urologist. I hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
1966687 tn?1325731223 m not saying this is what caused the blood in the urine, just using it as an example because kidney stones are pretty common. As it is, do your best to not be afraid, and make sure you keep up with your doctor.
Avatar n tn What would the probable main cause of Kidney stones in a 50 Year old female, considered to be in general good health? What treatment should be considered once the stones are gone?

18533109 tn?1465640552 OK, first off stones start off in the kidneys, most are formed from oxalate, not from a urinary infection. Now, kidney stones can make you feel like you have in infection, or may indeed cause an infection in the area (ureter) they are, if they are in the ureter, that is one of two tubes that come from the kidneys, one tube for each kidney about 6m or so in diameter, in females they are about 50-70mm long each one empties urine in the bladder and then pass through the larger diameter urethra.
Avatar n tn Causes for the formation of renal colic can be inadequate hydration, diet comprising of animal fats and too much calcium, infections, errors in metabolism which lead to accumulation of some salts preparing a ground for the formation of stones in the kidney, malfunctioning of the kidney etc. It is advised to get a ultrasound of abdomen done along with DMSA scan of both kidneys which would reveal the functioning capacity of the kidneys.
Avatar f tn Regarding your chest pain, causes maybe cardiac in origin or not, but not from kidney stones. But if you experience this, it is important that you seek medical help for proper evaluation. You can read more about this through this link: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/chest_pain/page2_em.htm#Chest%20Pain%20Causes I hope this helps. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I have had a KUB that has detected approximately 8 stones in my left kidney and 14 stones in my right. I even had lithotripsy on a 7 mm stone on the left. I continue to have the pain on the right. My doctor says that I should not be having this pain because none of the stones are big enough (all 3-5 mm) to block anything. However, still the pain. He has prescribed Vicodin, which helps a little, but I am beginning to feel a little like a druggie.
Avatar n tn Urinary tract infections can cause hematuria (blood in the urine). Other causes of blood in the urine are urolithiasis (bladder stones), kidney stones, bladder cancer, or kidney disease, bleeding disorders and others. It is best to take her the vet first thing tomorrow for a urinalysis, X-Ray of the abdomen, and complete blood work. If she has bladder stones thay would have to be surgically removed.
Avatar n tn I have had soft stool, sometimes watery for about a month now. I am also having pain on my right side. It started under my rib in the front and is now on the actual side and sometimes radiating up the back. My doctor sent me in to have an ultrasound of my abdomen. 4 years ago I had one and they found polyps in my gallbladder. In this ultrasound, they were still there. However, he also ordered an abdominal x-ray and found calcifications.
Avatar f tn The common causes for painless bleeding in the urine are infections of the kidney/bladder, disorders of the kidney/bladder, certain blood disorders, strenuous exercise and certain medications. The commonest causes are urinary tract infection or kidney stones. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. He may do tests like urine analysis, blood tests, X rays, ultrasonography, CT scan and sometimes cystoscopy to detect the cause for painless hematuria.
Avatar n tn My cat has a large stone in her bladder and a small one in her kidney she is on Hills CD food and antibiotics right now I"m not sure if I should wait a couple of months to see if the bladder stone dissolves or just have it removed now? They said they can't remove the kidney stone but they can remove the bladder stone, but I don't know how the kidney stone is going to effect her health in the future.
Avatar m tn If your doctor wants to reevaluate position of kidney stones and/or exclude other potential causes of hematuria, consider CT urogram.
Avatar m tn Causes can be divided according to the affected organ and they are Kidney conditions (infection, pyelonephritis, kidney stones, polycystic kidney disease), Bladder conditions (cystitis, bladder polyp, bladder tumor), Urethral conditions (Sexually transmitted diseases, urethral injury) and certain bleeding disorders. When the blood in the urine is at the beginning of urination, it most likely comes from the urethra, (the tube from the bladder to the outside).
Avatar f tn I have been suffering from chronic kidney stones for 19 years, multiple stones, multiple sizes in both kidneys. I hae not been stone free anytime since the first one passed in 1991. I hve had over 200 + stone related surgeries, everyone of them. I made 50 new stones from Nov. to Jan, this year. I am on my 3rd surgery since september now and awaiting another one due to an 8 mm stone.
