Common Questions and Answers about What are ambien withdrawal symptoms

ambien

Avatar n tn Ambien addiction is a serious problem requiring treatment. The signs of ambien withdrawal are insomnia, fatigue, sweating, stomach cramps, and panic attacks. You should consult your doctor to seek appropriate professional treatment if you want to discontinue Ambien. You should not attempt to stop taking them on your own.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know how long you have to take Ambien CR to become dependant and have withdrawal symptoms? I have been taking it for a couple of weeks, sometimes not every night but at least the past week and a half every night. I am not taking it anymore starting tonight but am nervous about getting symptoms from this and I just got off of Hydrocodone. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hi everybody - Day 21 for me no Hydro. Things are looking brighter. Still have bouts of anxiety and depression and wake up about every 2 hours during the night.... I had a little run-in with Ambien along the way. Took 10mg for 12 nights then realized it was really making me crazy, and probably hurting my Hydo my withdrawal progression. Stopping the Ambien had it's own set of unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.... My Doc says I should be back to normal in about 4 weeks.
18070169 tn?1463175914 hi sic i have seen you around here recently finding ambien threads. sorry you are going through all this. you're right, a ct off ambien cr is not recommended ... or ambien i think. i believe that ambien is not a true benzodiazepine but it acts like one / is similar. getting off both is very, very difficult, and you need a lot of patience. except the eye thing, most of your symptoms sound like things i went through as well, though i was ct'ing off benzos at the same time.
Avatar f tn Going off ambien at the same time means withdrawal from two drugs. Rough way to do things, especially with a history of heart disease. Why did you do this the risky way, if I may ask?
Avatar f tn How long does ambien withdrawal last? I have been off of it for 3 -1/2 months and struggle terribly w/ insomnia. I was on it for 4-1/2 months and it made me very sick with gastrointestinal problems, acid reflux, burning swellingin mouth, white tongue, etc. Doc did not diagnose, and said my symptoms were all caused by anxiety.
Avatar n tn How long and intense will withdrawal be if I stop 4-5 vicodin a day that I have taken regularly for months?
Avatar f tn Take 5mg of what?? Did you mean ambien? Yes...that's okay with me...lol I would take it although I've never taken ambien...but the doctor thinks it's fine and the other ingredients are safe.
Avatar n tn You should discuss this with your doctor right away and see what he says. It does sound like withdrawal symptoms but you should make sure that nothing else is going on. You aren't going crazy at all. These symptoms are real and horrible.
Avatar f tn Hello, According to what I have understood you are talking about the withdrawal effects of Ambien. Withdrawal symptoms (such as nausea, vomiting, flushing, stomach cramps, nervousness, shakiness) may occur if you suddenly stop using this medication. To prevent withdrawal reactions, your doctor may reduce your dose gradually. Talk to your doctor and get it checked.
Avatar n tn I have been on a slew of psychiatric meds since last March including Ambien, Ambien CR, Effexor, Lexapro, Trazodone and now Zoloft and Clonazepam. Most SSRIs cause me to have insomnia which is why my psych prescribed Trazodone. However, I had a very bad experience two weeks ago where I even had to call 911 because I felt like I was having a heart attack. I know what a panic attack is and this was not anything like I had experienced before.
6074055 tn?1378958419 I don't feel tired anymore after taking Ambien for 3 years. I just got off of Ambien 2 months ago. I tapered my dose the right way. I feel like there is something wrong with my brain because i never feel tired or sleepy. I don't have any withdrawal symptoms other than not feeling tired. I feel very alert and awake. I cant sleep at all at night. I only get maybe an hour or 2 of very light sleep. It doesn't matter if i sleep a little bit or none i still wont feel tired or exhausted.
1070971 tn?1299614110 I can really relate to you. Good solid advice above. Does the original pain outweigh the side effects from opiates? In my case the vicodin and ambien combination created much more of a mess in my life than I really knew I had going. I started out slowly on VicodinES because of a herniated disk. Vicodin has a tolerance level and it took more and more to help ease the same pain.

Avatar f tn Is there a withdrawal period for Ambiens? If so, are these some of the symptoms associated with it? I have just not felt good at all today and it is hard enough fighting with the Oxy withdrawals to have to worry about now withdrawing from the Ambiens as well. I put a call in to my physcians office to ask them, but have not yet heard back since my normal Dr. isn't in the office today. Anyone have any idea about Ambien addiction? Thanks in advance and God Bless!
Avatar f tn Hey Shiann, I am not familiar with Ambien withdrawal. I was taking percocets but I am here if you need to talk.
Avatar f tn When I went through vicodin withdrawal I upped the dosage to 10mg, which was my script max. I have had withdrawal symptoms galore. I got body jerks, metallic taste, no memory, disorientation, depression, anxiety, difficulty swallowing, breathing difficulty, panic attacks, vertigo, high to low BP... on and on. My dreams were vivid. The very slow taper and OTC drugs helped with the insomnia. Are you back on Lunesta?
Avatar n tn OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!! what are you doing!? don't ever mix ambien with Lorazepam, xanax, zoloft or any of the likes! There are interactions between these drugs Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients.
Avatar f tn Discontinuing the medications you've been taking for so long is quite difficult for almost all people in similar situations. The symptoms you're experiencing are likely a combination of withdrawal from the drugs, especially the Xanax and Ambien, and possibly a return of the symptoms that originally prompted you to take the medications. If you took high doses of these drugs, it's more difficult it is to discontinue them, and withdrawal symptoms last longer.
Avatar f tn If you are missing out on time awake to join in on life, then yes I would encourage you to withdraw. I took ambien for the first few nights of my first withdrawal from opiates but I have no idea what to expect with ambien.. Keep posting and someone may relate or we will all support you in your decision to get off ambien.
Avatar n tn ) and in second bedroom(Daughter has gone onto college this year) anyway total exhaustion gives way after 3ish hours and gravel/sleeping aids/oxy are taken. What can relieve these symptoms! I tell my hubby if it wasn't for him I'd give up. The good thing is most of my pain in knees is gone.
Avatar f tn s will take me to get back to normal and sleep at least 2 hours a night? And will there be BAD withdrawal symptoms?
Avatar n tn It will help with all the physical withdrawal symptoms. Rehab centers and addiction specialists prescribe it for opiate withdrawal. It is non addictive as it is a blood pressure medication. I took it and it works.
Avatar f tn ambien, lunesta) are not addictive. Widespread Z-drug use is still kinda new in the states and some people do appear to exhibit heavily addicted behaviors. Benzo withdrawal (in this case Xanax) can kill. Be very careful with this. You might want to read the Ashton Manual (a copy can be linked to from www.benzodocs.com). It has a lot of good info. There are even sites linked to about finding Ashton friendly doctors in your area.
Avatar m tn that this drug is highly addictive, very difficult to get rid off and with life threatening effects while withdrawing, like seizures.Believe me,Xanax was my drug of choice and was a nightmare to get rid of it.Nasty withdrawal symptoms, really unpleasant and some can last for months after discontinuing the Xanax.
