Avatar f tn wellbutrin causes no weight gain...I was on it for years and had no problems...I am now allergic to it as it causes severe seizures for me.
Avatar n tn Can you please tell me if Wellbutrin XL will help with anxiety issues. Or can the medication Cymbalta be of better use?
Avatar f tn Have taken paxil, celexa, effexor, xanax, and lexapro through the years but experienced weight gain of at least 40 lbs. My OB/GYN helped wean me off the meds this past spring but within the last month I have again started experiencing severe anxiety with bouts of depression. Family doc started me on Trazadone which just made me feel like a zombie and shortly after switched me to Wellbutrin 150mg daily.
1868532 tn?1320173057 I took Wellbutrin 150 for about a year and did not gain weight. I went up to 300 in May and still have not gained all the weight back from my last anxiety attack. So in my case, no it does not make me gain weight.
Avatar f tn My dr, said she looked it up in her book, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg, is only prescribed for SAD and to quit smoking. She did not want to prescribe the XL at all no mater what I said. She prescribed me Regular Wellbutrin 100mg twice per day. I do not want the regular wellbutrin as it will make me shakey, and I will not follow through with taking 2 pills per day...
Avatar n tn I took effexor but gained weight so my dr prescribed wellbutrin as a mood stabalizer. I have read that it causes anxiety, which I dont need. Is there anything else that will ease anxiety but no weight gain?
Avatar f tn It is my general doctor, as i don't go to a psychiatrist. I was diagnosed with anxiety, not depression. I also have a prescription for ativan to take as needed, which i never normally have to use. Either medicine (bupropion or pristiq) works for me for my anxiety, its just the side effects are the issue here. My doctor told me with pristiq, most people don't have issues with side effects.
Avatar m tn I switched from Paxil 75mg, with no weight gain or appetite to Wellbutrin 300 XL with uncontrolled appetite and the inability to feel satiety after eating which has led to mild weight gain. Wellbutrin has been a nightmare for me this last year but I'm not willing to go back on Paxil and possibly subject myself to the torture of withdrawing from it again. I'm lacking options at this point on what to do. The Wellbutrin has worsened my sleep disorder.
Avatar f tn Hi there...I take Wellbutrin XL (300 mg extended release bupropion) and no I didn't gain weight on it. I have been on differing doses for over 2 years. Also, no loss of sex drive if that is important to you which is a common side effect of most of the other medications used for anxiety.
Avatar n tn I have been taking lexapro and wellbutrin XL for a few years. I didn't seem to gain weight. About a year ago I was put on elavil to help with IBS. I have gained a lot of weight in the last year. I don't have a scale so I don't know how many pounds, but, I have gone from about a 33 waist pant size to a 36 inch elastic waist being too small. I understand that elavil can cause weight gain. Would the lexapro also be adding to this?
Avatar f tn The paroxitine is an SSRI and the weight gain can be a side effect. I just looked on the web for a statistic and it said about 25 percent of people experience weight gain. As with any medication, it should never be stopped suddenly. These medications need to be tapered down slowly so that you don't experience side effects. The best thing to do is to talk to your doctor as soon as you can and tell him/her that you have stopped taking it.
Avatar n tn I am on seroquel and abilify, and so far they havent caused any weight gain for me, or weight loss! I was on geodon at one point to, but that was a nightmare! You will have to sit back, and see what happens. If you really dont want the weight gain, then exercising should definitely help! I cant say for sure either, what the result will be!
Avatar f tn No dry mouth or weight loss instead headaches, ringing in my ears, clenched jaw, continued weight gain and irritability. Is this a different reaction to the wellbutrin or due to the combination of the two drugs? The headaches are more recent so I figured they may be withdrawal from the citalopram. I will be really disappointed if the wellbutrin doesn't work this time!
Avatar n tn t know if it was because it helped me feel better and I ate more, or just a side effect, but I did do a few things that actually helped me to lose weight while I was on it. First, the weight gain motivated me to look at how I eat, which was not good. I did nothing drastic except I decided to bring a lunch to work vs. go out more often. Then, I decided to join the gym and keep up with a regular exercise plan. I know it sounds overly simplistic, but it worked for me.
Avatar f tn In my opinion, weight gain can really go hand in hand with anxiety and depression in many people. When I was going through this, I quit exercising and did not take care of myself like I normally did and thus put on a lot of weight. But I also lost it once I started eating right and getting normal exercise. For me this was just as important as talk therapy and any medication that I was taking...keep working through it...and keep us posted!
1190024 tn?1264688422 Hi - I have a pretty extensive background, but will try to make this as short & easy to comprehend as possible. I'm a 33 year old single mom who has struggled with "mental issues" for many years. At the age of 15 I was placed on Prozac for depression. Over the next 15 years I tried Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro, and several others.
Avatar f tn I started on 150 xl then went to the 300 mg xl of wellbutrin I was crying all the time anxiety on max.the doctor put me back to 150xl I still have a lot of anxiety after being on the 150xl for 3 weeks.I had my last wellbutrin yesterday and started 20 mg of prozac today.lets see how this goes.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Lexapro? If so, did you gain weight on it or experience other side effects? Did it give you motivation to do things again? My neuro doc prescribed it (10 mg) but I'm not sure if this is any good... Thanks!!
Avatar f tn t seem to find an answer as to whether it is the medicine that makes you gain weight, or mentally feeling better that makes you eat more and you gain weight. Can you address this please? Thank you!
Avatar n tn If you have trouble sleeping, remember to take WELLBUTRIN XL in the morning. Do not change your dose or stop taking WELLBUTRIN XL without talking to your doctor.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions of different medications that may not cause weight gain or sexual side effects? Could an increase in mg of Wellbutrin help? I am already taking 300mg of Wellbutrin XL.
Avatar n tn Many SSRI's cause weight gain, although Wellbutrin doesn't as much as some of the others. You didn't state how long you have been on Wellbutrin, but don't expect any changes for 3-4 weeks. Neither did you describe you ailment.
Avatar n tn I just started wellbutrin four days ago. I am taking 150mg XL with Lamictal. (The reason I started the Wellbutrin is because I was taking Celexa and couldn't handle the weight gain). The last two days I have been edgy, angry, yelling, up and down in my emotions. Fine one hour and angery the next. This is worse then when I wasn't on it. I am wondering if these are symptoms starting out with it, gets worse then better? Did anyone have side effects starting this medication? Thanks.
Avatar f tn wellbutrin is a very stimulating antidepressant. Lexapro affects people differently -- ssris are usually sedating, but they can affect some people by being too stimulating. Too much stimulation can cause anxiety. But if you try two meds when you're starting out, you'll never know if that med works or not or if just one med does the trick. That's my two cents worth.
