I am currently taking 400mg XL of Wellbutrin, one upon rising and one 3-4 hours later and then at night I take 50mg Zoloft. I would like ot have a weaning off of the wellbutrin schedule and eventually the zoloftor both at the same time if possible. They seem to help for awhile and then not anymore and I can't afford to keep paying for them.
I am currently taking 300 mg Wellbutrin XL daily. It has been recommended that I go back to Prozac for my recurring bulimia and I agree as this drug seemed to help me in my 20's with the disease.
My question is - how do I safely transition from/wean off Wellbutrin while also trying to get back to a theraputic level of Prozac? I hear that Wellbutrin is difficult to get off of and am a bit concerned about my depression.

I am a 37 year old male and have been taking 300 mg/day Wellbutrin XL and 10 mg/day Lexapro since experiencing a severe depression episode in September 2005. I have since been going to counseling weekly and maintaing maintenance of these two medications and feel that I have made tremendous improvements. However, I have yet to go back to the stress-free, anxiety-free, depression-free person that I was before this occured.
I was on Paxil also for many years and I switched and went on Wellbutrin XL 150mg. Let me tell you I think the depression was lifted but the side effects were not something I could live with. I also burst into tears and was hostile and very irritable at times and had lots of anxiety! That didn't go away so now I am weaning off. I did try to go up to 300mg and that made the side effects even worse. Everyone is different though so I can only speak for myself.
I was still having some depression/anxiety issues so I saw a psychiatrist who changed me to wellbutrin 200mg twice a day and weaning off the paxil. I have been taking 10 mg of paxil for the last month and now am taking it every other day to wean off. In the last few days I have been so dizzy to the point of almost falling down and not sleeping well at night with crazy dreams. Is this all do to the new medicine or could it be something else.
My dr, said she looked it up in her book, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg, is only prescribed for SAD and to quit smoking. She did not want to prescribe the XL at all no mater what I said. She prescribed me Regular Wellbutrin 100mg twice per day. I do not want the regular wellbutrin as it will make me shakey, and I will not follow through with taking 2 pills per day...
I am currently taking 150 of wellbutrin XL everyday in the morning I would like to wean off of it. I took it to fight a bout of "mild depression." To successfully wean off, I am assuming I take it every other day....then every third day....and so on, but how long do I take it every other day before I start taking it every third day? Essentially how long should I be weaning off the medicine before I don;t have to take it anymore?
I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 300mg/day for over 3 years for depression/anxiety. One year ago, my doc added clonazepam 0.5mg/ 3 times a day and then increased to 1 mg every 8 hrs. I take one in the morning and usually one at bedtime. Sometimes I may feel jittery or overstressed and take one in the afternoon. I originally liked the combo, but soon realized that I was becoming very numb to almost any emotion.
If you have trouble sleeping, remember to take WELLBUTRIN XL in the morning. Do not change your dose or stop taking WELLBUTRIN XL without talking to your doctor.
I was very recently prescribed Wellbutrin XL, after trying several medications that have not helped [including Wellbutrin SR]. When I saw my doctor, she simply said 'I'm putting you on Wellbutrin twice daily' and I assumed it would be the SR. But what I was given was XL, with the instructions to take it twice a day [morning and around noon]. My doctor's office is closed today, or I would have asked her. I did ask the pharmacist, and he said that yes, this is okay.
My doc prescribed Wellbutrin XL since the Lexapro made my depression even worse, excessive sleeping, etc. My question is - can I still take 1 mg of Klonopin to help with anxiety, prevent panic attacks?
I've taken Wellbutrin before for a bad depression and know that it makes a person more energetic but also jittery at times.
Any advice? Could I combine Lexapro 10 mg with the Wellbutrin XL 150 mg?

m on 225 reg. Wellbutrin. The XL, extended release tablets stayed in my system long into the evening strong and kept me from being able to sleep well.
I take it first thing in the morning as soon as I wake up.
VE SUFFERED FROM PANIC DISORDERS FOR A LONG AS I REMEMBER. SO I WENT TO MY PHYCHITRIST AND SHE SUBSCRIBE WELLBUTRIN XL FOR A BOOSTER. PERHAPS TO HELP MY EMOTIONAL EATING AND DEPRESSION. I'VE BEEN ON IT FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW FIRST 150 MGS FOR 7 DAYS THEN 300MGS THAT I'M AT NOW.
I am also taking Wellbutrin XL and have experienced missed periods. I've been to two doctors- both claimed that my missed periods were attributed to stress and/or increased exercise and not Wellbutrin. Though valid reasons, I do think that Wellbutrin XL is playing a factor. You're not alone, but it might be a good idea to see a doctor.
Can you please tell me if Wellbutrin XL will help with anxiety issues. Or can the medication Cymbalta be of better use?
My doctor started me on Wellbutrin XL 150mg and I felt great the first couple of days, however I now get very depressed in the afternoons, dwelling on the past - how I could have done things better and how messed up my life is now, the doc wants to increase the dose to 300mg but these pills are expensive!! I can't afford to pay $120/month just for these....isn't there anything cheaper that would help?
I was on Lexapro for depression/anxiety for a year and half without any side effects. I felt like it was losing it's effect, or it may have that I was experiencing more sadness since my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I tried weaning off of it (I had tried a couple of times before that) and ended up having frequent sad thoughts after the weaning process. My doctor gave me Cymbalta. I loved the way it made me feel (ignoring the 10 pounds I gained and the frequent night drenching/insomnia).
