My dr, said she looked it up in her book, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg, is only prescribed for SAD and to quit smoking. She did not want to prescribe the XL at all no mater what I said. She prescribed me Regular Wellbutrin 100mg twice per day. I do not want the regular wellbutrin as it will make me shakey, and I will not follow through with taking 2 pills per day...
i'm on wellbutrin to STOP smoking weed, does it really works for that?....and if i smoke what would happen?....or if i get drunk?......my dose is 150, twice a day so in a day i take 300 mg's...and i also take clonazepam for sleeping disorder....
Wellbutrin 150 mg xl worked great for me while quitting smoking. Today I am tapering off the wellbutrin and I have 60 quit days from the cigs. I also lost 8 lbs in 2 months, however not sure if it was the xl or sr or even the current 75 mg hcl that I'm currently on now.

Actually...zyban is wellbutrin...but in a smaller dosage, wellbutrin is for depression & they discovered it supposedly had an effect on addictive tendencies. I can't take wellbutrin, it gives me panic attacks....sigh....

5mg Ativan for 30 days and I have been on Wellbutrin for 4 months for cessation of smoking 1 month 150 mg xl then 100 mg sr for 60 days to 75 mg 1x d for 30 days and now 1/2 75mg once a day for 1 week. Then I will be on 1/2 75mg wellbutrin every other day for 1 week and finally 1/2 pill twice a week for 1 week then no pills at all.
How long will my Valium withdrawals last? Will the Wellbutrin tapering effect or delay the Valium wd symptoms?
I know Zyban is another smoking cessation aide but that is another name for the anti-depressent Wellbutrin and an anti-depressent alone in bipolar can often worsen mania. Those are the two that are clinically approved and in standard use. Others are in experimental use.

All in all, if you want to try this for quitting smoking I say go for it! If you want to try Wellbutrin XL for anxiety and depression, I say go another way. Ask for other options. What I have been feeling like for the past week is definitely not worth it. (I am out of work so I have been lucky not having to worry about these "side effects" affecting my work performance.

I was prescribed Wellbutrin (buproprion) for smoking cessation and have been on it for roughly 3 weeks. It is the SR, 150mg in the AM and 150mg in the PM. I have also been on methadone for roughly five years and have been at the same dosage of 25mgs for over a year.
Once starting buproprion (i got the generic), the side affects were pretty bad. I felt like I was on amphetamines.
I started taking Zyban about two months ago for smoking cessation. At first I had very little side effects - in fact, I felt fantastic and ceased smoking within the first week. Three weeks into the treatment, I became emotionally very unstable, crying for no reason, feelings of worthlessness - almost an induced depression with insomnia, very vivid dreams, severe join pains etc. I coped well with those until I went out one night, had a few drinks and a total blackout followed.
If you have trouble sleeping, remember to take WELLBUTRIN XL in the morning. Do not change your dose or stop taking WELLBUTRIN XL without talking to your doctor.
It worked like a gem though but I decided to switch because I also want to quit smoking. Will the Wellbutrin side effects go away? What should I do?
Your body may take some more time to get used to do without any medication as you are mentioning of taking Paroxtetine and Wellbutrin XL for quite some years and have now stopped. Hope presently you are not using any kind of medication to assist sleep? You also seemed to be little anxious and stressed out. Keep patience and do your best to go to sleep as usual, do relaxation techniques, regular stretches, listen to some soft music and have a warm shower before going to sleep.
I've been on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg for about 6 months...I recently started taking once a day SR...to me the SR is less effective...I don't fell anything...it doesnt really feel like it curves my depression. I only tried it to compare the difference...I prefer the 2x a day I feel much better and actually feel it working...thats just my personal experience...however when I talked to my M.D. the switch wasn't harmful I guess its the chemical reaction to ur brain/body...good luck!
re asking how long you should be abstinent from alcohol before starting Wellbutrin? The answer for someone who drinks occasionally would be a few days.
You then mention concern over having an alcohol withdrawal induced seizure. That either tells me that you have been drinking a lARGE quantity of alcohol daily for an extended period of time, or you have overinflated views on alcohol withdrawal. You have to think of your safety, first and foremost.
I just started taking Wellbutrin XL 300 mg/day about three weeks ago, could it be attributed to that? Has anyone had similar symptoms?
If I am not mistaken Wellbutrin was used to treat anxiety long before it became a drug used for smoking cessation. As with any new med give it time to reach a therapeutic level and watch your symptoms. If you feel it isn't working do what you did before...see your dr. Hang in there sooner or later you will hit on the med that is right for you.
My doc prescribed Wellbutrin XL since the Lexapro made my depression even worse, excessive sleeping, etc. My question is - can I still take 1 mg of Klonopin to help with anxiety, prevent panic attacks?
I've taken Wellbutrin before for a bad depression and know that it makes a person more energetic but also jittery at times.
Any advice? Could I combine Lexapro 10 mg with the Wellbutrin XL 150 mg?

d stick with the Lexapro and skip the wellbutrin. The main reason for combining the two is if you get certain side effects from ssris, such as sexual dysunction and weight gain. Here's one problem: wellbutrin is a very stimulating antidepressant. Lexapro affects people differently -- ssris are usually sedating, but they can affect some people by being too stimulating. Too much stimulation can cause anxiety.
m on 225 reg. Wellbutrin. The XL, extended release tablets stayed in my system long into the evening strong and kept me from being able to sleep well.
I take it first thing in the morning as soon as I wake up.
Wellbutrin seems to be an antidepressant and for helping with smoking cessation, not for helping people ejaculate sooner when having sex. In your shoes I'd talk to the doctor about its undesired effect on the results of the Viagra, and unless you need it as an antidepressant (or to quit smoking), stop taking it. Give it a while to get out of your system, and see if the Viagra works again.
VE SUFFERED FROM PANIC DISORDERS FOR A LONG AS I REMEMBER. SO I WENT TO MY PHYCHITRIST AND SHE SUBSCRIBE WELLBUTRIN XL FOR A BOOSTER. PERHAPS TO HELP MY EMOTIONAL EATING AND DEPRESSION. I'VE BEEN ON IT FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW FIRST 150 MGS FOR 7 DAYS THEN 300MGS THAT I'M AT NOW.
