Wellbutrin 150 mg xl worked great for me while quitting smoking. Today I am tapering off the wellbutrin and I have 60 quit days from the cigs. I also lost 8 lbs in 2 months, however not sure if it was the xl or sr or even the current 75 mg hcl that I'm currently on now.

I took Wellbutrin 150 for about a year and did not gain weight. I went up to 300 in May and still have not gained all the weight back from my last anxiety attack. So in my case, no it does not make me gain weight.

My dr, said she looked it up in her book, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg, is only prescribed for SAD and to quit smoking. She did not want to prescribe the XL at all no mater what I said. She prescribed me Regular Wellbutrin 100mg twice per day. I do not want the regular wellbutrin as it will make me shakey, and I will not follow through with taking 2 pills per day...

I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 150mg for a little under two months, for a combination of fatigue/very mild depression, plus I wanted to quit smoking. Well, I quit smoking, I am in therapy for the depression, and I have made some lifestyle changes (healthier diet, regular exercise) to help with my fatigue. I am a 37 year old male and have been taking 300 mg/day Wellbutrin XL and 10 mg/day Lexapro since experiencing a severe depression episode in September 2005. I have since been going to counseling weekly and maintaing maintenance of these two medications and feel that I have made tremendous improvements. As for taking the Wellbutrin to stop smoking, how is lung cancer for a reason? Wellbutrin has been very effective for me to stop smoking and continue to stop smoking. I have had one lobe of my lung removed. I think it is well worth the risks and even the side effects. I am hoping that this subsides. I am reading and finding that a lot of the side effects come and go. This didn't start until I was on the medication for over 6 months.

Wellbutrin...it did the trick for me years back with I used it for un-polar. After being diagnosed BP I was on Lithium for awhile and they added in the Wellbutrin for my depression. Works great. I have more energy and feel tons better. It is the same active ingredient as Zyban and safe for BP along with a mood stabilizer.

I know alot of people try different ADs until they find one that works for them without the side effects. On the notion of quitting smoking while doing tx, I started up smoking again when I was really stressed (no excuse) and my doctor thought it would be a good idea to quit after finishing tx. d tried twice previously with Zyban (Wellbutrin) and the drug works but the side effects were too much for me. The reason I was able to quit the last time (it's been 3 yrs now) is because my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer from smoking (he died in 05) and I had lung xrays and a heart xray to see if there was any damage. There was. My Dr told me if I continued to smoke I'd end up with emphysema. I also had some calcification in one of my heart valves. That scared me.

My doctor prescribed me wellbutrin yesterday for anxiety and depression. (I'm also quitting smoking.) He said that one of the side effects could be suicidal thoughts. I have never had these before in my life. I am scared to death that this medication is going to make me think about things like that. Does this happen to a lot of people? And, does it happen with people who don't usually have these types of thoughts?

Your body may take some more time to get used to do without any medication as you are mentioning of taking Paroxtetine and Wellbutrin XL for quite some years and have now stopped. Hope presently you are not using any kind of medication to assist sleep? You also seemed to be little anxious and stressed out. Keep patience and do your best to go to sleep as usual, do relaxation techniques, regular stretches, listen to some soft music and have a warm shower before going to sleep.

I have no problem for someone to temporally use Wellbutrin to stop smoking since smoking is so terrible for you health. If you want to stop without any pharmaceutical Rx you might want to consider Rhodhiola rosea bought from a food supplement store. It will affect your serotonin level and dopamine level as well as having a stimulant adaptogen similar to nicotine. I really hope you stop smoking.

I took Wellbutrin XL 300 mg for a number of years. Last year I was given effexor with the Wellbutrin. I was also taking Topomax, 25 mg twice a day. I have since slowly weaned off all three because of the combined side effects. I lost weight very rapidly, started twitching, had anxiety, etc. I am now taking nortriptyline with dry mouth being the only significant side effect. You should not stop Wellbutrin without weaning. It can cause "brain zaps" which can be quite painful.

I've been on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg for about 6 months...I recently started taking once a day SR...to me the SR is less effective...I don't fell anything...it doesnt really feel like it curves my depression. I only tried it to compare the difference...I prefer the 2x a day I feel much better and actually feel it working...thats just my personal experience...however when I talked to my M.D. the switch wasn't harmful I guess its the chemical reaction to ur brain/body...good luck!

I went from brands name Wellbutrin SR 150 mg once a day, which made me energized and active, to brand name Wellbutrin XL 300 mg once a day. Now I am sleepy, lethargic and there is no buzz or energy at all. What's up??

My doc prescribed Wellbutrin XL since the Lexapro made my depression even worse, excessive sleeping, etc. My question is - can I still take 1 mg of Klonopin to help with anxiety, prevent panic attacks? I've taken Wellbutrin before for a bad depression and know that it makes a person more energetic but also jittery at times. Any advice? Could I combine Lexapro 10 mg with the Wellbutrin XL 150 mg? d stick with the Lexapro and skip the wellbutrin. The main reason for combining the two is if you get certain side effects from ssris, such as sexual dysunction and weight gain. Here's one problem: wellbutrin is a very stimulating antidepressant. Lexapro affects people differently -- ssris are usually sedating, but they can affect some people by being too stimulating. Too much stimulation can cause anxiety.

i have taken wellbutrin xl 150 for a while now. i also wanted to get off of them because they are so expensive, my dr. said the same thing about weening off of them will i made it about 2 weeks of 2 one day and 1 the next i thought i was losing my mind so i went back to 2 a day. My husband is glad i went back on he said i was a mega B.

m on 225 reg. Wellbutrin. The XL, extended release tablets stayed in my system long into the evening strong and kept me from being able to sleep well. I take it first thing in the morning as soon as I wake up.
