I've noticed a totally decrease in my spending habits, and, while I have noticed a bit of short-term memory loss at times, I seem as though I am coming out of some kind of fog and things are becoming a lot more clear to me. Thanks for your advice and your post, but you are not an MD, and you should not be so critical or judgemental of others.
and on the other comment, i am a nasty ***** right now...thats a reason for going on the wellbutrin. For months I was just up and down and up and down with emotions..lately i havent wanted to look at anyone, i havent wanted anyone to look at me (in fear that i might bite someones head off)i havent wanted to go out in public, afraid that everyone that sees me will think...what a horrible, ugly, fat person....although i know none of this is true, i cant help but to think it..

I've noticed my memory getting worse over time. When I was in high school I could remember everything. Every appointment, assignment, birthday, phone numbers of friends and relatives, birthdays, past events etc. Slowly over time I seem to be losing this. It seems to be something with my short term memory. I don't remember things I say or conversations I have. I can forget things as soon as they happen. I have trouble remembering birthdays and phone numbers.
I've been on wellbutrin for about 5 years and it's worked wonders for my depression. I also believe it's been a key factor in losing weight and maintaining my weight loss. During the first year and a half of taking it, I lost 30 pounds. Although I didn't necessarily feel less hungry, I felt like I had more energy and I was more in control of my impulsive behavior.
I was at my doctors today and he prescribed Toprol XL 25mg's this is a first for me and I havent been taking it before BUT he told me to NOT get the generic brand of this, he said MAKE SURE the pharmecy gets you the TOPROL XL and not generic because it doesnt work as well and there has been some big complaints. SO there is something behind it all......
I am weaning myself off and have started wellbutrin XL up to 300mg now. I agree with the withdrawal symptoms. It's almost as if the manufacturer doesn't want us to stop it (more money for them!!) Good luck to everyone.
But I just have a meter, and can regulate that myself and am not insulin dependant. I have short term memory loss, and often can't focus on a particular thing someone is asking. Eg. If it's a Wednesday, and my manager asks me what I worked on Monday, I won't know. It will take me a long time to figure it out......It's so embarrasing! Is this normal? Often my headaches can be so bad I want to scream, and I just want the pain to stop. I've been given medication for Major Depression Disorder.

It's not funny but I'm so tired and just can't get pregnant due to work rules (military deployment) so I need some relief and some weight loss!!!!
Horrible, closest thing to death I have experienced. Head shocks, stomache spasms, inner thigh spasms, severe short term memory loss, confusion, dizziness, (shouldnt have been driving)CRYING, sobbing every hour on the hour, suicide thoughts, screaming at other drivers, MAD!! (not me at all)..and so on...this went on for two weeks steady, then started to taper off BUT....still cry every day...feel like I have lost my mind in a sense. I am unable to work with my Insurance as I am so confused.
The drs have reassess and redid the MRI if brain neck and spine and EEG with more blood work and a nueropsch test for memory with reasoning questions, I scored average which to me wasn't impressive for a honor graduate in college. I also have bruising that develops for no reason and rashes that come and go. The drs tested the blood for enceophalopathies which are brain disfunction diseases but all normal results with anemia tests also normal.
About this same time I had decided to start weaning myself off of Effexor for several different reasons. I was taking both wellbutrin XL and Effexor XR and was just tired of taking so many medications ( I am also on hormone replacement therapy). The side effects I had from Effexor were not that totally bad; sweating and being hot when nobody else was, decreased sexual feelings, not as intense orgasms. I had quit about a year ago but don't remember feeling like this at all.
The other symptoms I have are definite loss of hair, dry hair, some memory loss, and depression. I'm taking wellbutrin XL, but that's to help me focus on handling the affairs of my Mom who has dementia and also the affairs of my handicapped brother. A little overwhelming. I'm 65 yrs old, working full time and went through a nasty divorce at 60, so I don't think the depression has anything to do with the thyroid problem. I'm due to have blood work at the end of March to check my TSH again.
Hi , I am also bipolar 2 and ADHD. I was very suprisd to hear I was ADHD, because like you I did not consider myself hyper. Then I started to see that I was one of those people that moves their legs and hands constantly! I can never seem to finish any project that I start, but I always thought that was just my bipolar, but my shrink told me that they often go hand in hand...he prescribed me adderall along with my bipolar meds and it seemed to even me out alot!
muscle twitching eye floaters and eye pain difficulty swallowing extreme sweating underarms and palms, sometimes feet shaking sore jaw, teeth dry mouth hot and cold loss of appetite paranoia and irrational OCD sudden, intense pain at back of my head, like an axe just split it open, lasts 1-2 mins cant relax i have constant worry there is something wrong and the dr is too stupid to find it i had one ocular migraine but never had one since. im also a chronic marijuana user.. i live in aust.
Many, many, many people take wellbutrin and have never had that type of reaction and are very happy. In fact you may see a little loss of weight not gain. wellbutrin is one of the better antidepressents out there.
) I am new to this forum and thought I would share my story. I am on wellbutrin XL 300 mg and Topamax 25 mg (going up to 50 next week) once a day for depression/anxiety. I was on wellbutrin and Lexapro for two months, but that combination made me GAIN 10 pounds in a month! I felt like eating all the time, and it didn't make sense to me since wellbutrin is supposed to cause weight loss!
I was browsing the web about topamax again because I have used it several times but always quit because of the memory loss, numbness and fatigue. I was put on it in rehab for alcoholism. It really cuts the craving for alcohol, which I think ties into it cutting overall appetite.
constant Mind fog poor memory (long and short) irritability feelings of "blah" occasional dizziness right side of head went numb for a month (My hospitalization was within this time) sensitivity to cold low libido I am unsure of what to do now. Could you please recommend a direction for me to take now.
I have been extremely effected by the side effects.Mostly memory and spelling.I have tingling in the fingers and toes.I also have little appetite and have lost 17lbs.Witch is great for me. I am over weight.I am tired more than normal, but i did sleep alot due to migrains.I do have more side effects and stuff, but I wont over load you all at once.I know this sounds like alot, but it has gotten better as time goes on. I have started to level off and become more normal.
Im worried about the memory loss and inability to form sentences mostly!!! I am hoping for a weight loss but wont put too much hopes on it. I am like a diet coke addict! SO it would be shocking if it ends up making that taste bad if thats true?

First of all I am not a nurse ot doctor but I wanted to comment on the hair loss. I have also been prescribed topamax for pain, mood stabilizer and weight loss so I have been looking a lot on the net. I have seen a few things about hair loss. I wanted to comment on that. I have been a hairstylist for 24 years and one thing that I have noticed without doubt is that when one of my customers loses a significant amount of weight (25 lbs or more) they always have a loss of hair.
