I have never used wellbutrin for weight loss, but I was given a script for it once to help stop smoking. I took it for about 3 months; it didn't help me stop smoking, nor did it help me lose weight.

Thank you for responding, I have been on Paxil for 7yrs and have had sexual side effects and also weight gain. I asked if I could be put on something else that doesn't have these effects. So the doctor told me to stop the paxil and replace it with the Wellbutrin. I have been on the drug for 5 days at 150 mg and have had side effects. It feel like my body is having jolts or zaps. I feel dizzy and can't move to fast because of it, I am nervous about driving as well.

My mood is flat other than wanting to burst into tears, and I am ANGRY. When will (and do?) the side effects fade? When does the Wellbutrin start to boost mood? I have had a return of sexual function, for which I am grateful. However, I would like to have a REAL life and a sex life.
and it is not listed as a side effect in any drug book. But there are always side effects they never tell you about. And different ppl react differently. How long have you been on the Wellbutrin before that started happening?
I have been experiencing short term memory loss and having a hard time concentrating, can't stay focused? Anyone else having that?
im also on xanax was on prozac dr changed it to wellbutrin sr..i have been reading where these meds can cause a seizure...

Can you tell me which is the better answer? I was taking Wellbutrin SR 300 mg for a number of years and then within the past couple of years it was inadvertently changed to XI. Could this be the reason for my anger changes a couple of years ago and is Lexapro really the solution?

I was on it for about a year 3 years ago. I loved it! The only side effects were dry mouth and weight loss(not a negative). About 5 months ago my doctor put me on citalopram which made me feel like a zombie and I started gaining weight so we decided to switch to the wellbutrin. I have been on the wellbutrin for about 7 weeks now and off the citalopram for a little over 1 week. Im having a completely different experience than I did before.
my hormones were low so dr put me on hormone pills and thyroid pills,i haad been on wellbutrin sr about 1 year 300 mg to counteract sexual side effects from prozac,it didnt help though,so my dr changed me from 300 wellbutrin sr to 450 mg xl,tonight for the first time in ages i feel kind of dizzy..ondering if it might be to high of a change over on the wllbutrin,,hoping after prozac is out of system i will have a sex drive any info would help or has anyone switched from the sr to the xl?
I am not good at taking more than one pill per day and I know with Wellbutrin, and Wellbutrin SR, more than one is required. I would wanted a timed release anyway, with one pill only. My dr, said she looked it up in her book, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg, is only prescribed for SAD and to quit smoking. She did not want to prescribe the XL at all no mater what I said. She prescribed me Regular Wellbutrin 100mg twice per day.
The above poster gave you great advice. Wellbutrin is more stimulating and can make your anxiety worse. Not all people have this problem but some do. Have you thought about switching from Xananx to Klonopin? Are you starting off on 300 mgs total a day?
My husband was taking Wellbutrin sr 150 the doctor upped him to 200 sr and they gave him buprion 200 sr(on the bottle it says just Bupr). He had lots of energy on the Wellbutrin sr150 and was a pleasure to be arounds, but on this 200 buprionsr he goes to sleep and is like snappen at me all the time. After reading some of these questions I am worried that things are going to go back to the way they were before he started taking his meds.
