wellbutrin prozac weight loss

I'm on 10mg of Prozac and have noticed some weight gain within the past 2 months or so and my doctor has suggested I start taking Wellbutrin along with the Prozac but my biggest concern is having panic attacks. I suffer from panic disorder w/ agoraphobia and the Prozac has been helping but I'm afraid that adding on the Wellbutrin may counteract that. (I know it is considered a stimulant for a lot of people - hence the usual weight loss.

t know if Wellbutrin will work for my OCD, depression and weight loss. I see your post is from 2008. Are you still on Wellbutrin and how has your experience been? Does it help with your OCD?

I am actually feeling more anxious now BUT love the assistance it has given me in weight loss. Wondering if I need to quit the Wellbutrin altogether or if it would be a possibility to keep it and add prozac or effexor.

Most people switch to Wellbutrin but another very good choice is ask your doctor about prozac..it works well and there is no weight gain or sexual interest loss.

EtteBette is right ~ trust your doctor, give the prozac a chance, it may take time for it to begin working. Not all ssri's (one type of antidepressant/family that includes paxil, prozac, zoloft, effexor, etc.) make you in to a zombie. Prozac is not a new medication. I know several people that are on it for years now with very good results! Just know that it may take 3-6 weeks to see an effect, and maybe even an increase in the dosage. Many people take 20 m.g.

I have read that wellbutrin is safe to take during pregnancy and can cause weight loss (I am talking weight loss before pregnancy), so if it works as an antihistamine as well, it might be perfect for me. Thoughts??

What I meant was, you've been on both Prozac and wellbutrin. Wellbutrin is often combined with an ssri to combat sexual and weight gain side effects. But as you taper down on the Prozac, you're mostly on the wellbutrin, and it's possible without the counterbalance of the ssri you're feeling the full effects of the stimulating qualities of the wellbutrin, which isn't generally used for anxiety problems for this reason.

I have taken 20mg Prozac and 150mg Wellbutrin....works great for me for thirty years....although there are times my psychiatrist has upped my Wellbutrin to 350 mg and the Prozac to 80 mg. Sometimes it is not that they have stopped working you may just need your dosage tweeked to be effective. My opinion is these adjustments should be made under the care of a psychiatrist who can monitor their effect. Please discuss this with a professional who may change both of these medication.

I have been taking prozac and wellbutrin. Some Drs. say its ok and some dont. I have been going on my second week with no wellbutrin and am staying nausea all the time. I felt like the Wellbutrin was causing me to gain weight.

I remember being a puffy mute on lexapro and zyprexa. Not only was my usual 130 pound jewish frame elevated to 170 within months I felt suicidal for the first time in my life. I found a combo of wellbutrin/zoloft that seems to serve me well. After hearing my complaints of fatigue he added adderall. It does help but it's but you can develop tolerance fairly quickly and it's drawing on your body's essential vitality (chi) to do this.

Like you i am on Wellbutrin 150 mg amd 20mg of Prozac i do well on both have been for 2 yrs now. The prozac makes me tired i tried no prozac and 1 wellbutrin in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. I had more energy but i was snapping at everyone and being hateful so went back on the prozac my Dr. said the prozac dosnt make you tired but my body says the different.

My daughter started going to phychiatrist(she just turned 18 she was on 40mg of prozac) he put her on valium 5mg,celexa60 mg and and 100 mg of wellbutrin what is this combination usually treat? She has some aniexty and depression ?Her hands shake after wellbutrin,but doctor said to try and see if it subsides after body gets use to it.Please let me know if this combination is used alot?

t like the side effects)...I was a little hesitant to try Wellbutrin since I had success with Prozac in the past, which works on Serotonin (like Zoloft) and Wellbutrin works on Dopamine (a completely different drug)...well I have to say, after 3 tough weeks of severe nausea, lightheadedness, dizziness, headaches, and dry mouth, I had to stop Wellbutrin and will be going back to prozac.

im down from 50 mg to 20 mg of proxac now,,,i feel tired all the time but i kinda did on the higher dose of prozac i have lost some weight,but even with the wellbutrin i still feel some depression..sex drive is better,i was put on the estradoil estrogen patch and im not to sure about it..i dont know why i would feel some depression as im on the wellbutrin and im trying not to take much adderall.i dont see my pshy till sept and i tried to call but tey ddint return my call...

t want me to come off the prozac as it was working for me in lots of other ways.They prescribed me Alli, a weight loss aid, which I am reluctant to take. I have an appointmentwith my doctor tomorrow so I'll discuss with her again.

I have been taking Prozac for many years, recently my Dr added wellbutrin xl. It worked very well except it gave me horrible hot flashes. Is there a good alternative that doesn't have the side effects?

ve been on prozac for 10 years and hate the weight gain. no matter what I do I keep the extra weight. I thought getting off the prozac an going onto Welbutrin would help. But, Wellbutrin did nothing for my BDD anI had to return to prozac. I guess you won't know if it helps unless you try.

i just want to discontinue the wellbutrin and go back to taking my prozac, but the last dr i saw said that i had to wean off the wellbutrin comletely before i can even start my prozac..so that means it will be atleast ten days before i can START to get back to normal. i wanted to know can i go ahead and start my prozac while weaning off the wellbutrin and are there gonna be side effects if i were to just stop taking the wellbutrtin without weaning?

m a 16 year old boy and i was prescribed topamax 25mg for migraines over a year ago. A few months ago i was also prescribed wellbutrin 300mg and prozac 10mg for depression and anxiety. When I first started taking the topamax i hardly sweated. I did start sweating a fair amount before taking the wellbutrin and prozac but the sweating has just increased since then and i've been getting large stains on my armpits just from sitting in class.

I have found that Wellbutrin counteracts that side effect. Also, I discovered that staying on the Wellbutrin, until my system adjusted to it made the side effect go away.

Eating cleaner and exercising consistently to name a few. Loss weight on Wellbutrin could have kicked in your obsessive thinking about your weight, body image and eating. Cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and interpersonal therapy can help you work through some of these obsessive thoughts. Lexapro or zoloft as an antidepressant could be explored. Of course prozac at high doses (60-80mg) has proven to be effective for bulimia and binge eating.
