My mother was diagnosed with c-diff and Colestipol granules were prescribed. Upon researching this drug,i see that it is used to treat cholesterol problems. Can it be used to treat c-diff?
My cardiologist has prescribed an increasing dosing regimen of colestipol granules to help lower my LDL level. Here are my last two most current labs from before I started the colestipol. I eat a lower fat diet, exercise by walking 40 minutes 5-6 times per week, don't smoke, control borderline hypertension with 5mg lisinopril daily, have a BMI of 30 but don't have enough self control to lose any weight.

It turned out to be the welchol I had started on to decrease my cholesterol. I felt bloated, constipated, a little dizzy and a fast heart rate every late afternoon and evening. I was very fatigued and just felt lousy all over. I have to admit that the pressure feeling in the esophagus was the scarriest.
am now taking glipizide 5 mg along with colestipol 1gr twice daily and gabapentin 300mg 3 times daily and my blood sugar levels are staying high. First time on all these meds and my sugar levels were fine on lisonpril. Could one of thse being causing the high readings. My diet is the same if not lower in sugar and calories.
Can anyone explain to me why I still had a heart attack even while taking the following meds atenenol 50mg bid, HCTZ 25mg daily, zetia 40mg daily, plavix 25mg daily, welchol 625mg bid. Also what is the chance of a second heart attack

Lipitor caused severe muscle weakness, Zetia caused all kind of digestive problems and Pravachol zapped my energy...my count actually went up 30 points while taking WelChol! My doctor is telling me that I have no other choices of medicine to lower my count (total 285, HDL 106 VLDL 21, LDL 188, Triglycerids 106.) My sister is having the same problem so I guess this problem is a family thing. I am really troubled by my doctor's lack of concern.
I take (2) 500mg of metformin at breakfast and supper. I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?
I did not have any problems until then. I suffered with IBS for years until my Gastro doctor put me on Welchol and it is wonderful I take 3 pills a day and I can get anything I want and I don't have any IBS episodes anymore. I am not afraid to go out anywhere anymore. But I have another problem.
I am curious if you tried cholestramine or welchol pills for detox? I use the welchol because I can't drink liquid meds.

and he said I had NO blockages at all. HUH??? My lipid profiles are still horrible even with medications.

Of course, I am no doctor but this seems funny to me.
So i have been dealing with this issue for over a year. It comes and goes. I am 26 years old and am currently suffering from leakage of bowels. This can vary from a little liquid to a small amount of stool. I had a flex sigmoid and the GI said my muscles down there were fine and he didn't notice anything. I have very loose stools and have a bowel movement about 3 times a day. He put me on colestipol, but it didn't fix my issue. It helped with the loose stools though.
You may want to ask the doc if he can try a bile binding resin like questran or somehting like Welchol. There's also the possibility that calcium could help. But it has to be in a specific form and take ant specific times of the day. Google 'lnape and calcium,' and look at the information provided. The contraindication would be if he has a history of kidney stones or parathyroid problems.

36 year old female, asthmatic, GAD and hypothyroid. Currently take Prozac, buspar, synthtoid and singular. 5’8”, 120lbs, Middle Eastern, live in US. Normal BP is 90/50 (I teach spin so lots of cardio). I stopped taking my hair skin and nails vitamins a week before the labs and take a regular women's multivitamin a day.
