welchol

219609 tn?1210348114 While you wait for the dotor ot answer: Like all the rest, foods/drinks (and coffee), vitamins, and other drugs, take Welchol hours away from your thyroid medication. Welchol can make it harder for your body to absorb certain other medications, including levothyroxine/Synthroid. So as long as you take them both far apart from each other, you should be fine. Low Vitamin D, did you tell the doctor? Will you be taking supplements to build up your low V-D, I presume.
Avatar f tn Hi, Your "Welchol tablet stuck in the throat feeling" symptoms sound like they could have been written by me. I've been on Welchol for lose to twenty years now, but now (after having thyroid gland removed due to follicular cancer at the end of last year), I'm having the exact same symptoms taking the Welchol tablets as you described (I thought it might have been dyspagia brought on by the Levothyroxine I'm forced to take now).
401016 tn?1201451802 I would assume they're giving you welchol for diarrhea and the Ami for GI spasms. This is a combination that is given to many (or combinations like it) when someone is experiencing unexplained abdominal pain (perhaps due to spasms) and diarrhea. Ami is used fairly frequently in GI problems, so don't consider it a 'head med.' It is, but in this case it's probably being used to work on the receptors in your GI tract - not your head, although it will do that, too.
Avatar m tn Can anyone explain to me why I still had a heart attack even while taking the following meds atenenol 50mg bid, HCTZ 25mg daily, zetia 40mg daily, plavix 25mg daily, welchol 625mg bid. Also what is the chance of a second heart attack My Aortic Valve, Tricuspid Valve, and my Mitral Valve are failing because they are stenotic and regurgitative. The Aortic valve is in the worst shape of the three they tell me. I have psoriatic arthritis and ankolosing spondylitis. all joints are involved.
Avatar f tn I have an answer for you. I too had my GB out, and soon after had the same symptoms. I DIAGNOSED IT myself....not much initial help from the gastro MD. It is called "biliary diarrhea". It's fairly common, surprisingly. Apparantly has no reflection on the quality of the surgery (I had the short cut method). However, good news: I've beern able to control it, for which I do give gastro MD credit....The cholesterol drug Welchol. Without it I'd be housebound!
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor about Welchol; it's a cholesterol medicine that binds bile salts. I had mine taken out in February of last year and tried to "tough it out," but after a doctor put me on Welchol, I rarely ever get sick after eating.
Avatar n tn I take (2) 500mg of metformin at breakfast and supper. I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?
Avatar n tn Lipitor caused severe muscle weakness, Zetia caused all kind of digestive problems and Pravachol zapped my energy...my count actually went up 30 points while taking WelChol! My doctor is telling me that I have no other choices of medicine to lower my count (total 285, HDL 106 VLDL 21, LDL 188, Triglycerids 106.) My sister is having the same problem so I guess this problem is a family thing. I am really troubled by my doctor's lack of concern.
Avatar n tn I HAD MY GALLBLADDER REMOVED IN DEC OF 09 I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS EVERY SENSE. everything I EAT COMES RIGHT BACK OUT. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO GO WHILE IA M EATING. NOW I HAVE TO HAVE A COLONOSCOPY. I AM SCARED SOMETHING IS MAJORLY WRONG. MY FATHER HAD CHORNES AND HE DIED. I AM ALREADY A SMALL PERSON. I WAS 118 WHEN I HAD MY SUGARY NOW I AM DOWN TO 107. Avatar f tn I am curious if you tried cholestramine or welchol pills for detox? I use the welchol because I can't drink liquid meds.
Avatar f tn Can Welchol be mixed with something else besides water ? Today was my first dose and it was horrid. I am a juicer and was hoping to mix the water/Welchol mixture in my juice, would that work or somehow disturb it's efficiency. Maybe it would detract from the nutrients I would normally absorb from the juicing. My liver function is too high so my Dr. wants me to avoid statins. I just can't get this stuff down without some help. Suggestions ???
1139187 tn?1355706647 I have about 600 welchol tablets that my insurance company accidently over-sold me. I cant take this medication any longer. It was prescribed to me because of gallbladder removal. Can I do anything with this medication since I will not be taking it? Its in 3 huge , sealed bottles.
Avatar n tn You may want to ask the doc if he can try a bile binding resin like questran or somehting like Welchol. There's also the possibility that calcium could help. But it has to be in a specific form and take ant specific times of the day. Google 'lnape and calcium,' and look at the information provided. The contraindication would be if he has a history of kidney stones or parathyroid problems.
Avatar n tn One is to decrease the amount of fat you take in. In addition, you could ask your doc if you could try some questran, or another form of bile-binding resin. Another thing to try might be Welchol.
255722 tn?1452546541 I have thought vaguely that Marshall is on the same train as the rest of the LLMDs, he's just in the club car playing with a slightly different set of rules in the game of Lyme. Mainstream LLMDs (if that makes sense ... meaning LLMDs minus the really fringe Lyme docs) seem to accept the idea that one reason Lyme is hard to kill is that it hides in tissue in unique ways that make it hard for antibiotics to reach ... the 'cysts' aka 'biofilms'.
Avatar n tn since ive had my gallbladder removed i have been unable to keep food in my stomach, Constant trips to the bathroom, Im worried that im not getting the proper nutrients since i pass the food so quickly.
Avatar f tn I never smoke or drink anything in my life the cardiologist said it has to run in my family because my sister is very young and she have heart issue herself. I'm just scare because I don't want to have a heart attack or a stroke I'm only 35 yrs old. I 'm on meds for my Cornary Artery Disease. Avatar f tn I had my gb out 3 weeks ago and have the identical same syptoms. Went back to surgeon today who lectured me that I must be not following a low fat plan. I had Grape Nuts with skim milk and a peach hardly high fat breakfast and start getting quezzy after about an hour. Pain snd cramps have caused me to clamp my teeth together causing my jaw joint to ache. Dr. says it will get better. Has your syptoms improved any? If so what did you do or have done?
Avatar n tn HI! I can't believe I found this site! I am a 53 yr. old female that has been experiencing these same symptoms since I was 13! Some of the diagnoses I have received over the yrs. have been really interesting... Possibiy from my menstrual cycle dripping blood and causing cramping (not cramping--dr.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your reply. She is already taking Ciproflaxin, plus Flagyl, Pentasa and Welchol. In assition, She was presecribed the steroid enemas to combat ulcers which fomed between the pouch and her anus; which is so contracted (possibly from the lack of solid stool for 20 years?) that with the constant irritation of liquid stool, cleansing and shrinkage she says it too painful to insert the tip of the enema bottle.
268356 tn?1236002604 Even ate completely vegetarian for two months. This has not seemed to help. I ate a snack on the way home one day and had an accident in the car (sorry TMI). I am scared to eat out. I can't seem to find which foods trigger it. Just when I think I have figured it out, I will eat the food in isolation and nothing happens. It is like my bowels have taken on a mind of their own. Anyone else have the same issue? If so, what have you done that has helped with the problem.
1543146 tn?1293661166 I have gastritis and fibroImilgia (sorry I can;t spell). When I drink alcohol or take asprin or pain killers. I get alot of bile flowing. What can I take for pain that won't upset my stomach and what can I take to control the bile? I have gone to the doctor and they just say stay away from these things. With Fibro... I am in a ton of pain but I can't take something to try to control it because it upsets my stomach. Ton of pain in my side and back pain - worse at night.
1374371 tn?1279332622 I have been diagnosed with gallbladder sludge and 13% gallbladder function. I have only had three attacks in the past year, two while I was pregnant and one after having the baby. I haven't had any since. Sometimes I just have gallbladder pain/tenderness for a few days if I eat something I shouldn't have. I was supposed to get surgery but I walked out. The surgeon didn't even want to discuss any other options with me.
20922415 tn?1661860103 If pregnancy occurs, progesterone is produced in the placenta, and levels remain elevated throughout the pregnancy. The combination of high estrogen and progesterone levels suppresses further ovulation during pregnancy. Progesterone also encourages the growth of milk-producing glands in the breast during pregnancy. High progesterone levels are believed to be partly responsible for symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as breast tenderness, feeling bloated, and mood swings.
