Welchol gallbladder

Common Questions and Answers about Welchol gallbladder

welchol

401016 tn?1201451802 I would assume they're giving you welchol for diarrhea and the Ami for GI spasms. This is a combination that is given to many (or combinations like it) when someone is experiencing unexplained abdominal pain (perhaps due to spasms) and diarrhea. Ami is used fairly frequently in GI problems, so don't consider it a 'head med.' It is, but in this case it's probably being used to work on the receptors in your GI tract - not your head, although it will do that, too.
Avatar n tn I had my gallbladder out 2 months ago and I eat a low fat diet and also daily diarrhea. I read online that it is common after gallbladder removal and some people it gets better over time and others always have diarrhea. Does your husband feel better atleast after gallbladder removal?? I had mine removed but it did not take away the pain.
Avatar n tn I want to know why so many people develop IBS after Gallbladder removal? I did not have any problems until then. I suffered with IBS for years until my Gastro doctor put me on Welchol and it is wonderful I take 3 pills a day and I can get anything I want and I don't have any IBS episodes anymore. I am not afraid to go out anywhere anymore. But I have another problem.
Avatar f tn Diarrhea after gallbladder removal is often due to excess excretion of bile, which irritates the colon. So, this is why asked, if stool is green. But the bile may still be the cause. I think bile would cause at least some anal burning during bm. There are some remedies which bind bile in the colon and they may help.
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor about Welchol; it's a cholesterol medicine that binds bile salts. I had mine taken out in February of last year and tried to "tough it out," but after a doctor put me on Welchol, I rarely ever get sick after eating.
Avatar n tn I had my gallbladder removed over a year ago. I have the same problem. I have found that a old cure for this type of problem that a Aunt has used for years is simple flour and water. I mix 2 tsps of plain flour in a little warm water stir till no lumps and drink it down in a gulp. Has worked wonders for me no more problem.
Avatar n tn My wife had her gallbladder removed about 3 months ago. Since then she has had what is called chronic hives. Is there any connection between the two? Any help would be appreciated. She has gone through many tests and doctors, and still no relief except through steriods. Thanks!
Avatar n tn since ive had my gallbladder removed i have been unable to keep food in my stomach, Constant trips to the bathroom, Im worried that im not getting the proper nutrients since i pass the food so quickly.
Avatar n tn I developed IBS after my gallbladder removal and was like all of you. I am taking Welchol my gastro prescribed it to me. I take 3 pills in the morning and that's it. I can get any type of foods and never have a IBS episode. Before I could hardly eat anything because I would end up in the restroom. But this medicine is wonderful. I always remember to take it. I am not afraid to go anywhere anymore, wondering if I will be racing to a restroom.
1374371 tn?1279332622 I have been diagnosed with gallbladder sludge and 13% gallbladder function. I have only had three attacks in the past year, two while I was pregnant and one after having the baby. I haven't had any since. Sometimes I just have gallbladder pain/tenderness for a few days if I eat something I shouldn't have. I was supposed to get surgery but I walked out. The surgeon didn't even want to discuss any other options with me.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I have about 600 welchol tablets that my insurance company accidently over-sold me. I cant take this medication any longer. It was prescribed to me because of gallbladder removal. Can I do anything with this medication since I will not be taking it? Its in 3 huge , sealed bottles.
Avatar f tn I had my gallbladder removed 2 weeks ago. I am still unable to eat much at a time and am still having right lower quadrant abdominal pain and nausea. I decided to try to eat a little more than usual yesterday and ended up vomiting. I have also had a great deal of diarrhea since I was discharged. Is this a normal part of recovery?
1543146 tn?1293661166 So, because your gallbladder is not functioning anymore (its not there right?) than you have bile flowing...it is not being directed to the intesines...I know a girl who has the same problem...there are certain foods that make it worse than others. In your case...alcohol, asprin and pain killers are things you can not take comfortably. If you have to take them...than you will have to determine what is worse...the bile or the pain.
268356 tn?1236002604 I, too, am pregnant. I empathize with your situation. I had my gallbladder removed in 2004 and began taking Questran about 3 months later (after living a miserable life for those 3 months!). I took my vitamins while trying to become pregnant at opposite ends of the day from the Questran. Questran has been my lifesaver! However, my Ob-Gyn does not want me to take the drug while pregnant, but my family physician and fertility doctors okayed it.
Avatar f tn There is a rare thing called Sphincter of oddi dysfuction. It mimicks gallbladder pain and often causes your gallbladder to slowly lose function because your sphincter spasms and backs up the bile causing damage to your gallbladder. When I had mine out last year I hurt even worse and started having attacks of severe pain in recovery . It was because they had me on morphine in recovery. It turns out Morphine causes severe pain of the sphincter because it increases the pressure.
Avatar f tn I am curious if you tried cholestramine or welchol pills for detox? I use the welchol because I can't drink liquid meds.
Avatar f tn It turned out to be the welchol I had started on to decrease my cholesterol. I felt bloated, constipated, a little dizzy and a fast heart rate every late afternoon and evening. I was very fatigued and just felt lousy all over. I have to admit that the pressure feeling in the esophagus was the scarriest.
Avatar f tn My OB said it was probably gallbladder disease, as it it common in pregnant women, and I could have it removed after I recovered from childbirth. Two months ago I finally had my gallbladder removed, my ejection fraction rate was 13%, and thought I would finally have my life back. Needless to say, I am in almost constant pain in my upper abdomen and run to the restroom about 10-15 times a day. Since I had my son I have lost 40 lbs and cannot keep weight on.
Avatar n tn My 20 year old daughter had her gallbladder removed in June of 2013 and is still have bad stomach pains, she says it is like needles in her stomach, bouts of diarrhea, and just over all cramping. She has been back to her surgeon/doctor twice and he said this is normal. She has lost 35 lbs from just changing her diet but shouldn't this pain be gone by now? Any suggestions? Help......
Avatar m tn Can anyone explain to me why I still had a heart attack even while taking the following meds atenenol 50mg bid, HCTZ 25mg daily, zetia 40mg daily, plavix 25mg daily, welchol 625mg bid. Also what is the chance of a second heart attack My Aortic Valve, Tricuspid Valve, and my Mitral Valve are failing because they are stenotic and regurgitative. The Aortic valve is in the worst shape of the three they tell me. I have psoriatic arthritis and ankolosing spondylitis. all joints are involved.
Avatar n tn 10 years ago I had my gallbladder removed a few months after the birth of my daughter. Of course things have never been quite right as far as my digestive system goes since then. However, I now have a new set of problems. Since January I have been waking up with severe stomach pain, nausea and vomiting. And once I vomit, which is nothing but bile, I usually feel slightly better although have no appetite for a few hours.
Avatar f tn She was talking to me yesterday and said that everything came back normal but her doctor took the gallbladder anyway, and when he got in there he said her gallbladder was just so diseased. She hasn't had problems since I almost wish that they could do an exploratory surgery to check the gallbladder just to see what it looks like because obviously modern medicine isn't doing that great of a job of diagnosing problems like this for a lot of people.
Avatar f tn t understand is why there is bile is my system at all because I thought bile is only released from the gallbladder when you eat food, (and you fast for 12 hours for the endoscopy). Anyone else out there have bile reflux? If so, I was wondering if you knew anymore about it than I do. What causes it? Gallbladder problems? Gastroparesis?
Avatar f tn I had my gallbladder removed at the end of January 09 after it was found to contain lots of stones and be inflamed but have not felt well since the operation. My doctor has diagnosed IBS and doesn't seem interested in helping and Im getting worried there is something else wrong.
215461 tn?1331862765 the hypothryoidism caused slow digestion and a thickening of the gallbladder wall. They thought all of this junk was actually my galbladder because the docs wernt creative enough to run my TPO or TGAB. Then months later they realized they made an "oopsie". but i did have legit pain down there and my middle back hurt like hell if you want to see if its your galbladder, push on your glabladder and exhale at the same time.
Avatar n tn Lipitor caused severe muscle weakness, Zetia caused all kind of digestive problems and Pravachol zapped my energy...my count actually went up 30 points while taking WelChol! My doctor is telling me that I have no other choices of medicine to lower my count (total 285, HDL 106 VLDL 21, LDL 188, Triglycerids 106.) My sister is having the same problem so I guess this problem is a family thing. I am really troubled by my doctor's lack of concern.
