I have an answer for you. I too had my GB out, and soon after had the same symptoms. I DIAGNOSED IT myself....not much initial help from the gastro MD. It is called "biliary diarrhea". It's fairly common, surprisingly. Apparantly has no reflection on the quality of the surgery (I had the short cut method). However, good news: I've beern able to control it, for which I do give gastro MD credit....The cholesterol drug Welchol. Without it I'd be housebound!

While you wait for the dotor ot answer: Like all the rest, foods/drinks (and coffee), vitamins, and other drugs, take Welchol hours away from your thyroid medication. Welchol can make it harder for your body to absorb certain other medications, including levothyroxine/Synthroid. So as long as you take them both far apart from each other, you should be fine. Low Vitamin D, did you tell the doctor? Will you be taking supplements to build up your low V-D, I presume.

It turned out to be the welchol I had started on to decrease my cholesterol. I felt bloated, constipated, a little dizzy and a fast heart rate every late afternoon and evening. I was very fatigued and just felt lousy all over. I have to admit that the pressure feeling in the esophagus was the scarriest.

here is my question. I am 29 male in reasonable health. 5'9 about 175. In reasonable shape. I work hard for a living in a factory. About 10 days ago I was walking through my house and all of a sudden i got a pain in my upper abdomen. Not a sharp pain, but a dull discomfort. I felt as I needed to rush to the restroom. I was constipated completely. Makes sense with the pain right? But the pain just hit out of no where. Well I stayed very constipated for about 3 days, and the pain stayed too.

I would assume they're giving you welchol for diarrhea and the Ami for GI spasms. This is a combination that is given to many (or combinations like it) when someone is experiencing unexplained abdominal pain (perhaps due to spasms) and diarrhea. Ami is used fairly frequently in GI problems, so don't consider it a 'head med.' It is, but in this case it's probably being used to work on the receptors in your GI tract - not your head, although it will do that, too.

I just got off of zetia and welchol. I could not take statins. I tried them all. Used to take Niaspan and fenofibrate but they took me off cause both cause problems in some and had not 'reduced the incidence of cardiac events'. I think they have concluded that neither do Zetia, except when used with a statin, so it is the statin doing the work. I also think Welchol has been shown to not reduce cardiac events too. not sure. I am on Repatha. Third bi weekly shot.

Ask your doctor about Welchol; it's a cholesterol medicine that binds bile salts. I had mine taken out in February of last year and tried to "tough it out," but after a doctor put me on Welchol, I rarely ever get sick after eating.

My OB said it was probably gallbladder disease, as it it common in pregnant women, and I could have it removed after I recovered from childbirth. Two months ago I finally had my gallbladder removed, my ejection fraction rate was 13%, and thought I would finally have my life back.

I had a colectomy due to a malignant major blockage causing my colon to be in such bad shape that it started leaking gas and fecal matter into my body cavity 3 years ago, Aug. 2008. I was diagnosed with stage 3 b colorectal cancer. I have a permanent very high output ileostomy.

Generally, if you experience muscle weakness as a side effect of Lipitor (atorvastatin), other statins will produce similar effects, so that eliminates the use of Zocor (simvastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin) etc.

I take (2) 500mg of metformin at breakfast and supper. I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?

I went to family dr. and he gave me Welchol 625 mg daily and told me to stop taking the Cymbalta I was taking. He told me to come back and see him to recheck things in 2 wks. I did not have any problems until then. I suffered with IBS for years until my Gastro doctor put me on Welchol and it is wonderful I take 3 pills a day and I can get anything I want and I don't have any IBS episodes anymore. I am not afraid to go out anywhere anymore. But I have another problem.

The benefits of it over statins is that is is not processed in the liver and does not enter the bloodstream. It is supposed to bind with bile duct acid and lower cholesteral in the digestive track. Did your cholesteral spike after treatment? Did it go down any after a while? I was shocked when my doctor told me my cholesteral was 318!!! My LDL was higher than my total cholesteral has ever been!

I will also ask about cholestyramine and welchol. My Lymie friend who I saw yesterday also recommended the cholesytramine.

the first two times, there were a few blockages - 10, 18 and 20% The last time was in December 2013 with a different cardiologist (I moved across the state) and he said I had NO blockages at all. HUH??? My lipid profiles are still horrible even with medications. Pravacol, Tricor and Welchol. His answer for this question was: "Those medications took the blockages away." Of course, I am no doctor but this seems funny to me.

I had the same problem, went to a GI doctor and they ran a colonoscopy (perfectly normal) but he decided it was because of my gallbladder removal. The bile in your liver has no where to be stored since your gallbladder is gone and therefore it constantly drips into your intestine causing you to have diarrhea every time you eat.

I had my gallbladder out 2 months ago and I eat a low fat diet and also daily diarrhea. I read online that it is common after gallbladder removal and some people it gets better over time and others always have diarrhea. Does your husband feel better atleast after gallbladder removal?? I had mine removed but it did not take away the pain.

Once a medication is dispensed from a pharmacy it cannot be sold back to the pharmacy or any other person. This is because even if you've only had it for a day and the bottles are still sealed, it is impossible to know if it has been stored properly and has not been tampered. I know this seems wasteful, and it is, but it's the law. I work in a HIV clinic and patients come in with unopened bottles of meds to donate to ppl who can't pay, other countries etc.

I had mine out at 23% and had bad diarrheah for 6 months. They can give you welchol or questran to help bind the stool if that happens. I also found out that sphincter of oddi was my problem that made the gallbladder go bad. If I would have known I had SOD then I would have waited a little while longer to get it out since now the SOD attacks are worse than the GB pain.

My 20 year old daughter had her gallbladder removed in June of 2013 and is still have bad stomach pains, she says it is like needles in her stomach, bouts of diarrhea, and just over all cramping. She has been back to her surgeon/doctor twice and he said this is normal. She has lost 35 lbs from just changing her diet but shouldn't this pain be gone by now? Any suggestions? Help......

s been undergoing a Welchol treatment for the last 5 to 6 months and has only been able to take 1/2 pack every second day due to the pain but she feels she's on the right path. I, of course, am doubtful, been that route before. Again, thank you for taking so much time for us and for the others you help.

I had my gallbladder removed over a year ago. I have the same problem. I have found that a old cure for this type of problem that a Aunt has used for years is simple flour and water. I mix 2 tsps of plain flour in a little warm water stir till no lumps and drink it down in a gulp. Has worked wonders for me no more problem.

Now I am following Burascanos protocol for Barts, which is levaquin and welchol for detox, I am having problems with the welchol so had to cut back. My idea is so many LLMD's try so many different protocols it is just a matter of luck. What works for some may not work for others.

I had my gb out 3 weeks ago and have the identical same syptoms. Went back to surgeon today who lectured me that I must be not following a low fat plan. I had Grape Nuts with skim milk and a peach hardly high fat breakfast and start getting quezzy after about an hour. Pain snd cramps have caused me to clamp my teeth together causing my jaw joint to ache. Dr. says it will get better. Has your syptoms improved any? If so what did you do or have done?

I do have to urinate a lot too. I was taking cholesterol medication (Welchol) and Cosamine DS for back pain. I stopped taking it last week but I still have the pain. It subsides for a while and then starts again almost like contractions. What is wrong with me? I have been trying to eat the right things like salads, veggies, chicken , turkey, no mayo or fats, only whole grain products.
