i never gained any weight from klonopin but why you on both they same pill benz, should not be on both are you coming off xanax all together, klonopin is a much better med and long term us .

There are healthy ways to lose weight and that could be discussed in the specific forum but obtaining a nutrionist is best and Weight Watchers good as well but avoid weight loss products. Most are unhealthy or useless. And products with Nutrasweet should be avoided as well as that can worsen depression (as some studies show). Replace all sugared drinks with flavored seltzer water for starters. That worked for me.

I've been on Klonopin for months and I barely eat and I keep gaining weight. It's not just Klonopin, it's any medication that I take for my brain that causes me to gain weight and when I get off the medicine, I never lose the weight. So now I'm clincically obese (it's been 7 years, almost 8 in a few months) and I don't know what to do anymore. Right now I'm on Geodon and Klonopin and they help out my BP and anxiety so much but at the risk of what???

I work my butt off and still the weight stays. I am beginning to think the Klonopin may be hindering weight loss. I will talk to my Dr about all of this when I do see him - but that isnt for months. So, I am curious what some of you may have to say about whether or not Klonopin may be the weight culprit and/or suggestions of whether or not I should try to taper off (and how). I guess I am asking if it may be my medications, diet, or what it might be to cause this weight loss, bruising, weakness, dizziness and memory loss and for the blood test to show a low blood count and high sugar levels. If any one might be able to help or have any suggestions, please contact me.

You might talk to your doctor to see if there are alternative meds you can take that might control you disorders, without causing weight gain. In my case, I have hypothyroidism, which slows my metabolism -- if my thyroid levels aren't right, there's no way I can lose weight, because thyroid controls metabolism.....

I can no longer go it alone. Xanax had some really bad side effects for me.....weight loss, increased anger, mental fog and many others. My question is this. Does anyone here have any good reports about Klonopin or Valium? My doctor will only give me xanax which I know is short acting...I need something that lasts longer. What are the side effects short term and long term? Is it worse than xanax when trying to quit? Any help would be appreiated.

I have lost a significant amount of weight over the past 10 monhs,, actually 35 pounds. I actually was looking too thin and the loss of weight was due to severe stress and depression/anxiety. Yes, you should be proud of yourself! From the reading I've been doing weight gain is one of the reasons given by people wanting to get off Lex. Some seem to complain especially about weight gain in the tummy area. My daughter lost weight initially on Lex and is just putting a bit back on now that she's tapering off. (She is tiny so weight loss was bad). Everyone is different I guess. In her case she may not have been on it long enough to encounter that side effect.

Topomax can cause hair loss. Topomax is actually marketed for weight loss as well. Topomax is a full mood stabilizer not an anti-depressent but its effect is generally not strong enough to use by itself so its generally prescribed as an adjunct (additional) mood stabilizer. My former Cardi discharged me from his care when I refused to continue taking Amiodarone after really bad reaction to it after 6 months on it. The dreaded hair loss,weight loss,combo was just the start of the ugly stick that stuff whacks a person with...Hated It. Just my experience tho..maybe other folks are just fine with it. Now that I have stopped taking Geodon, I would like to know if anyone out there has been through the same experience with weight gain AND if weight loss is a side effect of coming off of Geodon? Over the past 6 months I have gained 30 pounds. I have OCD and was put on Lexapro along with other meds which really put the weight on fast.
