594189 tn?1386916607 Well I started my weight loss journey on 9/11, I have to loss at least 5%- 10%(about 20-40 pounds) of my body weight by 12/10/08 According to my scale I have lost 22 pounds. Went to the doctors office yesterday for the monthly weigh-in and I have lost 15 pounds according to her scale(they always seem to weigh higher than ours) :) But the nurse said that I have had a really good start. How did I do this? First thing is I gave up all empty calories. So no soda, juice, chips, candy.

Avatar m tn First of all start eating healthy and less, around 1700 calories daily (for more info contact a nutritionist) please don't consume less than 1500/day. You could try jogging but if that's too intense for your knee a-45-minutes walk 4-5 times a week is proven to promote weight loss. Also you can look for exercises like crunches, curls and leg raises that won't make your knee worse. You can also follow my blog on tumblr for more inspiration and tips :) feel free to ask anything.
168348 tn?1379357075 I find it motivates me for the entire day .... not only for weight loss, but it's a very positive wake-me-up that I enjoy to read/watch with my morning coffee. See, I have to take my thyroid meds on an empty stomach, first thing in the AM, and then wait up to an hour before I eat -- so I come here to become motivated for the day, and mentally think about what I will or will not eat and do today. What is the first community you log onto to read/post in? Ok Ok ..
Avatar f tn ll have to enlist her help in your weight loss efforts. Ask her to make sure there are plenty of fresh veggies for every meal, as well fresh raw veggies to snack on, fruit, and plenty of lean protein. You'll have to give up things made with white flour and sugar, such as breads, pastries, sodas, etc -- simple carbs. Exercise is very important and there's almost always time to do a little bit. Try walking to school, participate in sports, etc.
Avatar n tn Hello all - I am 29/F - Stay at home Mom to a 3 year old (not b/c I psychically can't work but b/c we chose this for her) - for the past month I have been experiencing this discomforting "chest wall" pain - when I say chest wall that is what I am assuming that is what it is - basically there's this "sore spot" on the left part of my chest just above my breast (right under my collar bone) - - when press on it, it's tender - - I had this last month around the time I
Avatar m tn You are welcome. As far as the weight loss goes, I have never been one who believes in diets, it's all about lifestyle changes. It took me about 4 years of serious life style changes to manage the weight loss without any fad diets. I just ate a healthy diet, managed my portion size and exercised every day, I've been losing weight slowly, that's the best way to keep it off.

168348 tn?1379357075 been battling his weight coming in "right on the mark" and passed weight by the skin of his teeth last night and will be playing the playoffs on Saturday! So ... he is my inspiration to do it ... maybe we can draw from his good eating habits and substituting healthy for not so healthy foods since football started in August! Some treadmill and mega workouts in full gear, too!
Avatar f tn Here is the answer to this question. In order to lose weight, you have to subtract calories. Safe weight loss is 1-2 lbs/week, so in order to lose 1 lb/week, you'd have to drop 500 calories from your BMR each day (1 lb is equal to 3500 calories, so 500 calories X 7 days = 3500 calories or 1 lb). OR you can drop 250 calories from your diet and increase exercise to use an additional 250 calories. Changing up calorie counts and exercises will help prevent plateau.
Avatar m tn fast weight loss is most of the time lost water and muscles. Fat takes ages to go away. Third: Think of a diet as something permanent. Crash diets just help you gain weight faster once they are over. So, pick some simple rules of a balanced and healthy diet, and follow them. Don't sweat it if you crave for something "bad", to a balanced diet belongs the bad side, too. If you give in now to a small piece of chocolate, it is much better than to eat two whole packages later.
Avatar f tn Yes please talk to your dr, there are many things that could cause rapid or excessive weight loss and some of them can be serious. In addition to Thyroid and GI testing maybe ask about diabetes. It seems odd, but it can cause weight loss.
Avatar f tn I promise you your completely fine. I'm 19 weeks haven't gained any weight. Lost weight and the baby is perfect. It didn't matter how tall or how much you weight as long as baby measures up during ultrasound it's perfectly fine.
