I had the same problem with weight loss during tx. I have only gained 5 lbs of it back since stopping tx 3 1/2 months ago. Way too thin!
After the weight loss began I ate a lot of ice cream, cookies, cakes, chips, pancakes, pasta, peanut butter sandwiches,etc and all foods with high calorie content. It did not help much and I did manage to gain a few lbs, but I strongly feel eating that way kept me from losing more weight.
The majority do lose weight but some people just don't. Doesn't matter what brand of interferon or ribavirin because antiviral therapy as a whole seems to diminish the appetite regardless. In my case I consumed smaller portions because I couldn't get down what I had been accustomed to eating but I ate whatever I wanted to and still lost weight. Some people stay the same or actually gain weight on treatment which is hard for me to understand but it happens.
I too didn't lose weight on tx. I was hoping I would drop 10 to 20 lbs but no such luck. I managed to maintain my weight and am over 1 yr post tx now and still trying to lose weight. I began AD's after TX (PAXIL) and started to experience weight gain. After a yr on the Paxil I weened myself off and am off of it now. Still battling the weight.

Doses for therapy meds can be recalculated for a lighter weight. If your doctors have not noticed your weight loss, you may need to bring to their attention, so they are not dosing you too high. Stick with the high calorie foods; cream on oatmeal, whole milk, butter, ice cream, malts & milkshakes. I know these are all dairy but there are other higher fat foods, too, like hamburger, avocadoes, etc. This may be your only chance for the rest of your life to break every rule. Do it.

yeh id def get ya thyroid checked too,iv heard of tx doin tht,also it can mk us gain weight iv heard too.i was very active b4 tx and tx just knocked me for a sixer so i sat on my bum most of tx and maybe thts why i didnt lose weight.
Sorry you're having such a hard time. I'm one of the people who didn't lose weight on tx, so don't have lots of advice there. I was told, however, by my care team that people who don't lose a lot of weight do better on tx. Not sure what they meant by that, but wt loss was the ONLY side I might have liked, and it just didn't happen.

Medical marijuana is often recommended as an appetitite/weight stimulate for those on treatment. There is also another drug, Megace,, but the weight gain is almost entirely fat, but it is an option. You can also try caloric dense weight-gain products like Ensure and Prosure. You could also add some ice cream to the prosure or Ensure if she can tolerate.
Can hypnosis done on a child cause trauma, if while under some one shot a gun and gave them terrifying info. can that cause ptsd and loss of memory, which effects them later in life?
Deirlo, I lost 20 lbs while on tx.. but, I'm one week post tx and I'm loving food right now. My guess is that the 20 lbs weight loss will be short lived. How many weeks are you into tx?
