Avatar f tn Have you thought about getting a heart rate monitor? I forming recently and after entering all my details such as age and weight it calculates the calories I'm burning, even if I just go for a walk. Avatar f tn And it seems that at this point my body only requires 500-1000 calories a day to stay at a steady weight, with most days erring on the side of 500; I can afford a couple 1000 calorie day "splurges" a week for eating out but the other 5 days of the week I really do eat about 500 a day. Avatar f tn How could my blood sugar spike when I was really watching what I ate, hardly any carbs at all. I do not think I have been taking in 800 calories a day. Could I have put my body in shock from such a restrictive diet? Up to my 2nd blood test I did not eat any meat, had oatmeal for breakfast - a can of sardines at 11:00 am (or low fat cottage cheese & an avacado) and 2 pieces of fish for a late lunch, and soup at night with a salad. I did a A1c this month at home and my # went to 6.4.

579258 tn?1250649343 I often get a craving for salty things or tootsie rolls - potato chips have always been my downfall and when I weighed 115 lbs and could control my weight easily, it didn't matter if I indulged. Now with the thryoid problem and this excess poundage that won't let go of me, I can't do that anymore. The worst time for me is in the evenings and I've been trying to get up and do something - clean the kitchen, do laundry, sweep floors, work out, etc until the craving goes away.
172023 tn?1334672284 s worth noting that most studies linking breakfast to weight control loss looked at a healthy breakfast containing protein and/or whole grains -- not meals loaded with fat and calories. And protein is a key ingredient; adding a little lean protein to your breakfast may be just the boost you need to help keep you feeling full until lunchtime. I have about 3 or 4 quick and easy breakfasts that I can make in very little time. I rotate them to prevent breakfast boredom.

Avatar f tn Make sure you always have breakfast, because people who eat breakfast tend to lose more weight then people who skip it. Try staying away from soda and any drink that contains calories. Drink water, or iced tea with no sugar or maybe some green tea. Lipton makes a great diet green tea with citrus, it tastes really great. Also, stay away from the junk food and get your mom or dad to buy some of those 100 calorie snack packs. They come in chips, cookies and candies.

Avatar n tn You did not state your age so I am not sure how many calories you need a day. If you want to lose weight, it is done by eating healthy and exercise. You need to do is increase your physical activities to 1/2 hour or more a day. That 1/2-hour or more can be broken up through the day, 10 minutes here and 20 minutes there. For example, park your car in the back of the parking lot and walk to the store. That will give you additional walking.
Avatar f tn I see by your weight/height that you are underweight. Being underweight, you have to gain weight slowly. You need to consume approximately 1800-2000 calories a day. Suggest you eat 3 meals a day and try to eat a Heart Healthy diet which will give you the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your body needs, gain weight slowly, and help with possibly preventing future disease states.
Avatar n tn Hello, I'm 5 weeks, one day today and am wondering whether or not it's too soon to begin increasing calories. Avatar n tn s physical activities (play, dance, sports) to lose weight, and not lower calorie intake due to the need of calories for growth. Limit time in front of the TV or non-active-video games. There have been studies showing the longer the length of time a child sit in front of the TV, the greater the weight gain. Suggest you do limit high sugar drinks/snacks and replace with milk/yogurt or fruit/popcorn/cheese. High sugar drink and snacks do not give the child nutrients they need.
