Avatar f tn I have a one year old great dane who was suddenly paralyzed in his back legs. The paralysis spread to his front legs in a couple of days. It's been about a week and half and he can now move his legs around, but refuses to stand up. He'll sit up sometimes, but only when he absolutely wants to. We don't really know what it is. There are so many options that have been thrown at us: tick paralysis, coonhound paralysis, wobbler's disease, snake bite, or ischemic myelopathy.
390388 tn?1279636213 Caesar, my Great Dane does not want to drink, front toe is knuckling under, drags back leg at times or stagers/wobbly. Holds head up proud. Tail is down and he's depressed. This all came about within two days. The first day we thought he was just sick. He did not want to even stand without his front leg shaking. Yesterday we went to vet and he's taking flagyl (for very loose stools) and recieved fluids(450 mg. of Dex. and saline).

1432547 tn?1283364911 I have a great dane he is white so fleas are well attracted to him, but other than that he has two gashes in his right back leg, he has lost a ton of weight the leg is swollen and oozing and im worried about him. I think he was bitten by a snake but im not sure, he won't let us get close enough to get a good look at it, but he's miserable i need to get him some medical attention but i need to do it very affordably can anyone help me?
11119474 tn?1428702170 Thanks everyone. He is a super sweet boy, too. Poppy, he will likely grow another inch in height. He is now 36" at the shoulder. He will certainly fill out and put on more weight. Now he's 150 pounds, but I expect him to reach 180 when fully mature at three years old. Immisceo, you are very right. And that is one of my other passions concerning this wonderful breed. In some places of Europe, particularly France, Italy, Poland, they are being bred to look like Mastiffs..
Avatar f tn YAY for you!!! I'm so freaking happy for you Dane - really, I really am. And ENJOY the vacation - and the one thing that should keep you from drinking - is remember - you want to REMEMBER this vacation right? It's a milestone of sorts so do NOT mess that up!! (you know I love you) - I am SO proud of you dane.
Avatar m tn I have an 11 year old Great Dane who has quite literally been the best dog I have ever had, and been my best friend for years. He has no bad behaviors and is exceptionally well behaved. Or at least he was. He has always been fearful during storms, but within the past 2-3 months it has gone to extreme lengths, and he is now quite literally destroying my home if no one is home when a storm hits.
Avatar f tn Hey all, well i did it, little over 30 days clean and home from rehab. It feels great to be home and back in the swing of things. I am feeling and doing great and last night was the first night i actually slept, i am finally starting to feel good and its a great feeling. I have allot of work to do making amends with the hubby but over all its going great. I already visited my therapist at home and i will be seeing her 2 times a week.
Avatar f tn That's a great suggestion. We'll be adding the food tracker very soon and eventually you'll be able to compare your data across trackers to see how various things influence each other. We'll let you know when the food tracker is available and you can get started.
Avatar f tn Anybody else have this problem? I feel like a great dane when I wake up with slobber on my face and pillow.
Avatar n tn How do you get a dog out of the bed? My great dane loves to sleep with us and does not like us trying to get her or keep her out of the bed.
Avatar f tn I have 2 dogs, am 29 weeks pregnant and have a 3.5 year old. My dogs are a 2 year old miniature pinscher and a 9 month old great dane and I'm not getting rid of either of them, despite being allergic to the great dane. They are a part of my family and we couldn't imagine being without either of them, especially since my great dane got really sick and almost died of Parvo a few months ago. The dogs are fine to be around a newborn.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a great dane who is almost 8 1/2. She is very healthy and just had her check up in November. She is playful and active and loves to go for walks. She is a lean great dane and always has been at approx 105 lbs. We have noticed that her back legs shake when she is going into a lying down position and sometimes quite a bit. She has shaken a bit in her back legs when sqatting to urinate for a while but it didn't seem excessive.
2046312 tn?1360379600 I got hungry reading through the food she list's LOL....I'm not on Incivek...but I still found it helpful and interesting. Thanks for sharing it.
Avatar f tn So, about 3 months ago hubby had bought me my dream dog...a harlequin great dane. I had to give him up yesturday because he mauled me and my oldest son both had to have stitches. My trainer who is also my Vet decided she would take him because she too has a very aggressive great dane and knows how to *deal* with them, she also has no children which I guess is okay. We went to drop off the dane at the clinic and she had brought a little Mutt puppy 8 1/2 week old jack russell/Blue heeler.

She has 1 other dane right now and lives alone with him and a few parrots. This woman is amazing and we are bringing Scooby down this weekend to see how everyone gets along =) Cross your fingers for me! This could be the magical household we've been looking for, for so long!!! I'll fill everyone in when we come back from the visit!!
Avatar f tn Hey all, today is my 60 day mark and I feel great! My only complaint is my sleeping and I get very restless at night other than that I am back to normal. Please guys, if your suffering it does get better I was using for 10 plus years with the last year in heavy addiction and now I am seeing life in a new light. Wow, life is just beautiful!
746058 tn?1248344665 I have a 4 yr old great dane that has always had sensetivies to foods. We have always fed holistic high quality foods but he never seems to have a solid stool, some foods are worse than others of course, it goes from being soft formed stool shape that turns to mashed potatoe consistency once out, to full blown diahrea. He eats grass when his tummy is upset and for that we give pepsid ac. He always has facial acne which he itches and it bleeds.
Avatar f tn We have three dogs- 2 Great Danes and a Basset Hound. Our girl Vida is a 10 year Dane and some months ago got an infection and nearly died. The cause was never really established but we believe taking them to the Dog Park was the source so once she recovered, we stopped that. Two weeks ago a family friend had the Danes for the weekend and took them to the park. Monday night, Vida exhibited the same signs as last time---very lethargic and NO appetite.
Avatar f tn In a dog with ideal weight, you should be able to easily feel his ribs and see a slight bit of the last rib, but the rest of the ribs or the pelvis and spine bones should not be poking out. You can see a chart of body weight conditions at the following website: http://www.purina.com/dogs/health/AdultBodyCondChart.
