I have a miniature dachshund that is approximately ten years old. Okay so my dachshund has cysts on her body in various areas, although most of them are on her upper body. I asked my vet and he said that it was completely normal for older dachshunds to have cysts like that. Also sometimes during the year she will get an allergic reaction type of thing where she gets hives and in bad cases she will get her entire face swells up..

I adopted a 4yr old male dachshund a couple months ago who appears healthy and has had all his routine tests and shots and everything appears normal. He eats with great gusto (surprise! he's a dachshund) and has plenty of energy. MY worry is his weight. He's a 'tweenie' size but only 12.5 lbs -- clearly too thin. His vertebrae and rib cage are prominent despite giving him two meals a day and frequent snacks.

My 16 year old, 11 pound dachshund has ALKP 810, ALT 440, Retics 1.1, HCT 60.2, WBC 3.70, RBC 10.51...which does show early liver disease. She has had bloody diarrhea, possibly from 1/2 2X daily SAMe 225??? It has improved by not giving it to her...I changed her from Fromm Weight Management food to Royal Canin Hepatic; my vet gave her a shot of diathal and put her on endosorb, and the diarrhea is better. I think the dose of SAMe is too high??

I have a male mini Dachshund 7 yrs old about 12 lbs not over weight at all, in the last month he cries out if you pick him up and I notice sometimes when he is laying onhis side and he tries to get up he has a hard time `getting his back legs under him to push himself up and cries, but he still jumps, we try and and keep him from jumping. What do you think?

We did research and found a dachshund website and read to confine them as much as possible to put in small kennel to keep them from trying to move around. To give a dog asprin by the weight of the dachshund which he is only 7lbs. It also said a small dosage vitamin c every day. We only did the asprin for about a week for inflamation , and the vitamin c continued and within 2 weeks starting seeing improvement, and within a month he is back on his feet active as ever.

I wouldn't listen to the weight chart thing, I'm nearly 35 weeks amd ever since a set up this app it has been telling me av been gaining too much weight, av never worried as think it is probably better to be gaining to much than not enough.

Yeah - I know. *Good luck* keeping a dachshund from running up and down stairs, jumping off stuff, etc. I've got a grumpy old woman (11yrs old dachshund) and two new puppies. It's become the "dachshund 500" around my house lately. Hi everyone- I just want to have your feedback on this subject. My dachshund and Cornish Rex cat have seen me through more surgeries and pain trials than anyone! It's like they can read my mind! I actually think their little spirits have a part in lowering my pain and when they are not around I notice an increase in my discomfort. My miniature dachshund has a reasonably sized growth by his penis. I can press it down and it goes away for asecond then just comes right back. He doesn't act like it bothers him though. We were told by our vet to go the neurologist as emergency and then may be surgery. s not a good idea to start with heavy weight right on. So when you start you should be doing 2X12 or 15 with light weight then gradually increase weight then go for 3X12 and when you feel comfortable you can go for mass building which is 2X6 or 7 with heavy weights. To know what is the appropriate weight you have to be barely able to lift the 6th or 7th repetition. If you have no problem doing all the 7 repetitions then it's time to add weight.
