Common Questions and Answers about Weight chart anorexia

weight

1938479 tn?1325705620 If Arnold Schwarzenegger was to use a BMI (weight vs height) chart while bodybuilding, it would have classified him as obese. Another way to look at fat versus muscles is that a cubic inch of muscle will weigh more than a cubic inch of fat. Muscle is about 18 percent more dense than fat. So a better question is am I in shape or do i need to convert more areas of fat to muscle? With that said, here is a weight chart that should only be used to give you an idea, so don't take it as gospel.
Avatar f tn BMI is a useful way to determine a healthy weight. You can find a BMI calculator and other tools for determining a healthy weight on the CDC or NIH web sits. But healthy weight is only part of recovery, as I'm sure you know. I hope you're working on the other aspects, from good nutrition to the mental side of EDs and monitoring for anorexia sequalae.
Avatar f tn My monthly is late this month. I'm not sure exactly how late, but my gut instinct is telling I've lost too much weight and with the weight I've lost I've lost my mentural cycle as well. This scares me because if that's so that means I'm going to have to gain weight.

1158511 tn?1262554942 At 5'4" and 87.4 pounds, your body weight would qualify for anorexia. Low body weight is one of the criteria for anorexia. By visiting the bella vita website you could take our free eating disorder survey and also read more about anorexia to help you understand more.
Avatar f tn I would like to get some kind of information on a healthy way of gaining some weight. I would like to put on at least 8 pounds.
Avatar m tn t mention your weight, you do mention severely restricting your food which is a hallmark sign of Anorexia as well as your fear of gaining any weight. Please understand that Anorexia can be very serious and lead to eventual death if not dealt with. This information may be helpful for you to understand all Anorexia entails https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/eating-disorders/anorexia-nervosa/mental-health-anorexia-nervosa#1.
Avatar f tn m no expert but I would say your in the begginging or middel stage. You are one pound under weight and I take you by what you said you want to lose weight so my guess is yes. But I would talk to your doctor because no one online can diagnose you. You need to see a profeshanal doctor. And try posting this in the eating disorders fourm!!!
Avatar f tn t eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight. Though technically, part of the clinical diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa is losing 15 percent or more of what your normal body weight should be, you do not need to be super thin in order to have an eating disorder. Most of what an eating disorder, such as Anorexia, consists of is the emotional/mental aspect..
Avatar f tn t happen over night and doing it right will keep it off longer... With anorexia the second you start to eat your body holds in everything including the fat because it knows you will starve it again. Also when you stop eating your body will start to eat itself (including your muscles). You can do this hun... keep it up and persevere.
Avatar m tn She has lost an extreme amount of weight. A couple of years ago when this all began, she was losing weight quickly and couldn't eat anything unless it was pureed. Without going into all the details, she presented all the signs of anorexia and still does. She's been in and out of the hospital many times and near death. She and her family continue to tell everyone that it's LD.
356080 tn?1227034315 Whatever he is eating it is keeping him in the Growth Chart. Children that age do not usually have anorexia. Have you tried is to engage him in the kitchen more because they usually love to be a part of making food. Have him help you with preparation of food and setting the table. Hopefully this will increase his interest in other types of food. Important part is to relax and do not make a big deal about what he eats or does not eat at meals.
Avatar n tn I'm a 27-year-old female and I "recovered" from severe anorexia after in-patient treatment in 2005. I'm 5'3" tall and weighed in the low 70s before treatment. After treatment, I was eating about 1850 calories a day and weighed just under 100 pounds (still low, I know). I continued eating about that much and exercised a bit more (but not much), and by spring 2006, my weight had dropped for some unknown reason to about 83 pounds. I was secretly pleased but disturbed.
5061022 tn?1363018223 its a constant battle and I hate it....I am trying so hard right now to fight losing weight the right way....I am having a very hard time.....
Avatar m tn Looking for insight on my girl friends malnutrition. she has a history with anorexia but has managed it herself over the years. We've been together 3 years now I've seen her success with routine eating but hardly cosistent. She cycles to work, works 3-4 jobs and manages to find time to workout or swim 1-2 times a day plus consumin considerable amounts of water and eating light meals here and there. I believe these habits contribute to her insecurity of gaining weight.
Avatar n tn I donot know anything about anorexia but I do know about OCD. I also know Lexapro works well for me. Our body is made up of vitams and minerals along with all else. The brain has many chemicals. Loss of certain chemicals can be replaced by mood stabilizers or SSRI's which are used to replace serotonin. I am not a doctor but my OCD symptoms have lessened, almost nonexsistent by the use of antiphyscotic drugs to correct the chemical imbalance I have.
Avatar f tn Hi Bran, I haven't been to the site for a LONG time---at least a month and maybe more---but I've been thinking of you and hoping you are doing well. I am SOOOO proud of the comment that you posted above: "So to answer your question, there's not really a such thing as mild. I mean there is but mild doesn't last for long. Mild is that VERY short step between healthy and deadly." You are ABSOLUTELY correct!!
Avatar n tn Ok so my girlfriend has what has been classified as anorexia nervosa by her doctors that was much worse in the past than it is now. She has raised her calorie intake but she is afraid to bring it up to completely normal levels. Right now she is at a healthy body weight but she would still like to lose some pounds.
Avatar f tn So I'm a 16 year old girl, about 5'5' and 110lbs. I'm on a calorie restricting diet and exercising a lot to lose weight. My family doesn't know and I can't talk to them about it due to circumstances i cannot discuss. My one friend who knows about this tells me I'm on the verge of anorexia and people at school are talking about me saying how skinny I'm getting. When people originally told me this I took it as a compliment, now I find it embarrassing.
Avatar f tn I have suffered from anorexia and bulimia for 12 years now. I am currently at an over weight weight but started losing massive amounts right before I found out I was pregnant. Same thing happened with my daughter. Its going to be hard. I'm not going to lie to you but don't deprive yourself. Remember, restricting yourself is restricting the baby. talk to your doctor and see a psychologist that specializes in eating disorders and try to do some yoga and writing therapy.
1310561 tn?1285863461 It's the only way I lose weight, really. I tried dieting, but it was only good until 125 pounds, which is only decent for my age/height. Any tips on sticking with anorexia?
Avatar f tn i suffered from anorexia an still have blips from time to time is this the cause of my PCOS? have i caused my infertility???
18663 tn?1198171815 Hi Thanks so much for taking my question. While I don't know for sure, I suspect my girlfriend has anorexia. She has been dropping a lot of weight, but says it's because she's too fat. Right now she is 5'4" and weighs about 92 pounds and she looks like ****!. She thinks she's FAT! Everytime we go out for dinner she only eats a few bites and then has to go to the ladies room.
Avatar f tn but then a nurse who was incompetent got the wrong chart and so she told me my weight.175! So, i ran out of the office and got a scale. i found my diet diary app and am going nuts. I recently got more labs done and still my labs are horrible. I am tired and losing hair...all the symptoms besides weight gain are hard to deal with. i am 5ft 7in so 175 was not ok with me.
