Avatar m tn Hi, You can try some memory enhancing exercises like solving puzzles. Another very good way to improve the memory is to learn a new language or a musical instrument. Also do some deep breathing exercises to keep you relaxed as stress and anxiety can also cause problems in concentration and memory. Hope this helps!

Avatar f tn I am now 7 weeks through abstinence and there has been slight improvements in concentration, memory, and cognitive functions. I took a cat scan, EEG test, and went to neurologist. Still have to get an MRI to get full diagnosis from doctor. Man cocaine abuse is scary stuff! I recall 7 weeks ago my brain felt fried and beyond repair, now I have hope as improvements have persist.
Avatar m tn Hello-I was a recreational drug user from the time is was 13yo to 23 yo. I did overdose when I was 23, which acted as a catalyst for me to stop doing drugs. I've done cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and alcohol. My issue is that I feel like I have memory and cognitive issues due to my past drug use. I have since graduated from college and hold a computer related job. I do well in my job, but can't get over the past drug use and blaming it for my perceived inadequacies.
1534024 tn?1294246075 Hi all, For the past 4 nights I have been having a really hard time falling asleep and when I do it's like I black out and wake up multiple times throughout the night. I do have a deviated septum and I was wondering if maybe that's related? In addition, about 3 weeks ago I started having digestive problems, I became highly irritable during the day, my memory has gotten bad, I have increased sensitivity to light, and problems concentrating.
Avatar f tn I've been depressed for four years now and am now being medicated with 150mg venlafaxin, 8mg serdolect and just recently stopped taking mirtazapin. My problem is my memory. I have hard time remembering what I did the day before and sometimes because of my memory issues I can't even be sure whether something happened or not. I may have this little feeling that I kinda know what I did earlier but can't be sure because I remember a lot of things like they were dreams.

Avatar n tn I don't know if this will help or not. I think when you get to the brain it can get very complicated. I too have always said the same thing and when I was in college a professor asked me if I was having a hard time concentrating. Also asked me if I am easily distracted. I laughed and said yes. When I was in my younger years my parents always got little notes about me not listening (I was never a behavioral problem-model student).

1934417 tn?1323431281 As someone with a prescription and needs it, I can understand the desire to take just a -little- bit more to study just a -little- bit better and make you feel smarter for the test. Logically, you have to realize--a little vyvanse should help you focus, but like the last poster said, too much will just make you strung out and twitchy for the test. You need to sleep!
Avatar m tn If you go to college, after last class, go straight to the library and do it all right there. But sleep is the key to being alert enough to get thru homework quickly. Fun can wait until weekends, unless a big paper or term exams are coming up.
Avatar n tn I am wondering if there are any ways to improve visual outcome after surgery for a retinal detachment, e.g., vitamins, herbs, exercises? Three years ago, I had a retinal detachment in my right eye. I had a vitrectomy and laser treatment and a gas bubble. A month after the surgery, before returning to work, my retina detached again. I had another operation ( I think the same). Again I had the gas bubble. This time the retina remained attached and in a month I was back at work.

Avatar n tn ) I think the concentration and your memory will go back to what it was like before if you leave this habit and improve your diet. Also, I completely understand about your high school grades taking a huge part in your college career- that happened to me! One test was actually what seperated me and my dream career, and that was very stressful, especially when I was not the smartest student.
